Lucky you! My first thought was “nope, not buying” because I love the small size of The Flower Year. But my goodness these are such beautiful illustrations!! 🤩. Guess I’ll be adding another book to my collection. Thank you for the detailed flip ❤
Haha I was surprised at the size, but it works. I don’t think the illustrations would work as well with the smaller size. It’s definitely a gorgeous book 🤗

I’m hoping Hanna will do a website so we can order from her im searching for a company that will ship her Swedish copy to Australia.. I’m hoping Amazon will release her book at the same time hear in Australia.. it’s sad about book depository as well ❤xx

One of the things I really appreciated in her Flower Year book was the index at the back that had a small pic of each page with the names of the various flowers in the pic so you could look up what colors to use for each if you want to. Wish this book had an index like that.
YES! I miss the index. I have no clue what flowers I’m colouring without it 😅

I have been so upset about Book Depository closing, too. I live in USA, and Hanna Karlzon and Maria Trolle are 2 artists I buy foreign editions from BK, because it takes forever for the books to print in USA.
Same here Barbara. I’m hoping another company will step in and fill the gap in the market for us. I don’t think I can wait nearly a year to get the English version lol 😆

This book review was beatifully done. You took your time and allowed us to actually see each page clearly, and reading the poetry made the whole experience very relaxing. I really like the book a lot, but have to sell some of the ones I had bought when my taste was quite different in order to earn enough from my mistakes to pay for any new books.Thanks for a very nice review!

Love your review! Such a beautiful book and I like the increase of environments and fauna shown here! I coloured that image of the bird with the fancy crest you were wondering about - I did some googling and discovered it's called a Hoopoe!
Shame that there isn't a list of what all the flowers etc in each pic are... I wonder if the publisher or Leila herself might add a guide online? I'd love that, because for realistic illustrations like this I often like to colour them true to life!

I have Leila Leila Duly's other books and I love them. I pre-ordered mine which will be arriving tomorrow but I'm not sure now I've seen the video. I'm not keen on mandalas and there are quite a few, but we'll see. There is lots to love
Hi Wendy, there are some mandala type of images, but like you said there’s lots to love. There are still plenty of full single and double pages, bouquets and spherical designs. I usually go by my rule, if I don’t like at least 50% of images in a book then I bypass it 😊
Being a nature lover I love this book! I have on my desk a magnifying glass on a lighted stand which helps to colour in small details.
I'm thinking of trying my Grabie watercolours in this book. What do you think? Her artwork is so delicately drawn.

I think they’d work beautifully in this book Monika. With the bigger size book the details are easier to see, but I love the magnifying glass idea 🤍
Hi Monika, do you mind sharing what kind magnifying glass are you using, please. I bought one by Oushiun but it didn't work for me, I still can see better with my normal glasses. Maybe they don't work for people that already wear glasses, I'm not sure.

This book is a lot like floribunda and flower year. Those books had the flower and butterfly names listed to identify what they were. I wish this book had the names of the oceanic images and flowers. There is no way of telling what any of the butterflies and fish are unless you look it up in some reference book. If anyone knows where I can find the names of the images in this book.

Lovely book! I have her other ones but they are still untouched because I don‘t trust my skills enough….yet. Her illustrations are so true to nature and I am a biologist so I don‘t want to butcher them. 😂
