Out of all of the 40 years that I watched Michael Jackson, this is by far, his most joyful and happiest period....I wish that we could have seen this side of him more..

T Fuller I guess I know what you mean but I think he was just putting on a brave face and acting happier than he actually was deep inside, it was the time he felt ugliest and that’s what caused him to have surgeries on his nose and whatever, I think he had so much going on for all of the stages of his life, there was always something going on with him and there was always people talking about him negatively..
he was always struggling with something and it’s so sad. He didn’t deserve it.. I don’t believe he was ever completely happy in general.

If I recall correctly, the filming of The Wiz was Michael's first time "out and about" in the world without his brothers and out from under his father's boot heel. I think he even stated years later it was a very liberating time for him.

This movie was a major undertaking as it was filmed on the largest sound stages in the world. They had to shut down major areas in New York City and with the extra set design, sound and visual effects plus costuming, choreographing and on and on. Many people misunderstand how much work went into making it. It’s a masterpiece

Otherwise, it's just the clever editing of the video cutting off the intro of the reprise. It's so subtle, you wouldn't know it was there if you didn't look for it.
