  • This is the latest China's 2022 City Commercial Charm Ranking:
    First-tier cities:
    Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen
    New first-tier cities:
    Chengdu, (No.5)
Chongqing, Hangzhou, Xi'an, Wuhan, Suzhou, Zhengzhou, Nanjing,
Tianjin, Changsha, Dongguan, Ningbo, Foshan, Hefei and Qingdao
Finally, I came to Chengdu, which I have been thinking about for a long time.
    ----------------------⭐⭐
Chengdu is the capital of southwestern China's Sichuan province. Chengdu's history dates back to at least the 4th century B.C., when it served as capital for the Shu Kingdom.
Artifacts from that dynasty are the focus of the Jinsha Site Museum. The city is also home to the famous Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, a conservation center where visitors can view endangered giant pandas in a natural habitat.
    ----------------------⭐⭐
Chengdu located in central Sichuan Province in China, is the provincial capital of Sichuan and one of the sub-provincial cities in China. The State Science assures Chengdu as the center of technology, business, financial and communication.
Chengdu is also the political, economic, cultural and educational center of Sichuan Province.
Home to the adorable, cuddly giant pandas and Sichuan peppercorn, the provincial capital of Sichuan, Chengdu, is undoubtedly one of the fastest-growing cities in southwestern China.
Known for its relaxed lifestyle and culture, abundance of natural, cultural and historical sights, it is indeed no surprise that the city welcomes an estimated number of 100 million tourists each year.
As one of the Chinese cities that made it to the nation’s top ten leisure destinations, what makes this “Brocade City” so special and increasingly popular?
    ----------------------⭐⭐
Here are the reasons and a round-up of what this charming city has to offer.
    Rich History & Culture
Chengdu is one of the earliest settlement in southwest, with a history traced back to 2400 years ago when the first Shu emperor built its capital here. Retaining its original name ‘Shu’ till nowadays, it has long been an important political, commercial and economic hub of Sichuan.
The province is reputed as the ‘Heavenly State’, or ‘Tian Fu Zhi Guo’ in Chinese, literally a place richly endowed with natural resources. Thanks to excellent irrigation and the abundance of mineral resources, the fertile Chengdu Plain was the center of the ancient Shu Kingdom, forming a brilliant civilization that nourished the place’s deep-rooted cultures and rich heritage.
Historical attractions such as Wenshu Monastery, Wuhou Shrine, Du Fu’s Thatched Cottage Museum, Kuanzhai Alley, Daci Temple, Jinsha Site Museum, each with its fascinating antique beauty and cultural heritage.
A trip to Chengdu wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the city’s Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, where the public will have the chance to meet and learn about Sichuan’s most iconic and lovable creature. The Research Base was opened in 1993 to further scientific studies and enhance the public’s awareness of the conservation of the endangered wildlife species.
Be immersed in the local culture and experience Chengdu’s relaxed and laid-back lifestyle. Spend a leisure afternoon sipping teas at a tea-house is an integral part of local living in Chengdu. Watch a Sichuan Opera at night and be mesmerized by the mysterious techniques of bianlian (changing faces), gundeng (rolling lamps) and tunhuo (spitting fire)!
    ----------------------⭐⭐
    Chunxi Road
If one travels to Chengdu for the first time, Chunxi Road Pedestrian Street is a place that should not be missed. Located in Jinjiang District, this road in a broad sense covers an area of about 200,000 square meters (2,150,000 square feet). It stretches to the east of Beixin Street, the west of Hongxing Road, the south of Zongfu Road, and the north of East Street.
The street was originally built in 1924 to connect two commercial centers, the East Street and Mercantile Corporation. After nearly 100 years of evolution, it is now not only the center of fashion in Chengdu, but also a place that brings together delicious snacks from all over the country.

    Wow!
I dont know if it's just me, but the night seems to fall very fast :D
I always love how chineses cities are always so enjoyable during the night, it's as active as it is during the days, maybe even more.
And always soo much green all around...
11:10 i though it was a butterfly, but then i saw the little character and i was like "What is this?", then my brain start working again and i remember you said something about fairies at the beginning of the video XD
24:01 the towers remember me the towaers from another city you show before... i can't remember in wich city, but they were two towers like this with lights and all, i think it's maybe in the city that they were a show with light on the surface of all the tall building near a river. You filmed it :D
25:41 is that a little panda car in the background with the baby in it? i wonder if it's something available in the city of if the family own it :D, as it's kind of panda city too.
37:16 ah yes, i saw on news that it's the dragon boat time in China :D, i remember when you show it to us before, hope you have lots of fun :D
48:22 this remember me Changsha, the place where there is a show with the half boat outside (you showed it many times with singers, actors and all XD)
53:49 Lego panda look cool :O, wich i could have one at home. I would love to have a Lego store in my city. i think i would try reproduce all the chinese monuments you showed me before XD
1:03:19 LOL This is soo weird... I dont even know what tothink about it XD
The malls are always soo clean :O, it's crazy.
1:18:27 WHAT IS THIIIS??? O_o, it look like a mix between a worm and a tiger.... a tiger worm ? XD. It's super long tho, goes around multiples store and all, and different level too. WOW!
1:31:58 HA HA HA XD, look like someone want to do like King Kong. XD
1:38:29 Love it, same color as Grumpy cat... Cleaning itself and Having good time. Just like all humans around Ha ha ha XD
I saw some "Were is your pant?" In this video :D, seems like they are coming back. I guess the night must be warm, and not too cold.
Thanks for the visit :D, seems like it's a very active city, specially at night. I really like how everything is an excuse to decorations and lights. All the food stand and store open during night. Everybody seems super relaxing and happy.
I can understand it's the appiest city in China, you got no stress there. If you want todo something, you can do it all day or all night, no need to hurry before something close or else, and all the decorations give lots of life and fantasy to the city.
i think some cities in the world should copy this style. Many big cities are just plain cement with no decorations or just have advertising and not proper decorations/lights.
I hope one day you could make a small pictures of a city from far, just to see how it look from a distance out of the city. it must be super big and all the light and all must give a crazy look like if teh city was some kind of giant amusement park from a distance :D
Have good time on dragon boat party :D (maybe i m too late, i dont know exactly XD)

1:18:27 Haha, Frank, this is neither a tiger nor a worm, but a tiger tail specially made in this LV store, a special edition made to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Tiger.
This long tiger tail will be in this LV store one year.
I estimate that the tiger's tail is 100 meters long, and it fills the rooms of the two-storey shop in a continuous manner.
1:31:58 The panda lying on the roof has become a symbol of Chengdu.
Yes, Frank, you got no stress here and this is one of the happiest cities in China. So glad you can find so many interesting details.
      Have a great weekend, Frank!

It strikes me how full of life the cities are, and how much there is for socialization and pleasure, my country's cities are dull and dying with businesses giving up left and right. Another one off from the list of cities you have visited, good quality as always! I wonder whether you're also planning to do some videos in the northeast as well. If so, Harbin and Changchun would be my top recommendation, the cities there have unique architectures and rich in history, could be a good change of vibe for you. Weather would also be more bearable in summer if you can't handle the cold, but ofc snowy winter is what they're famous of. Cheers!

Ahhh Chengdu, they say it’s more a relaxed city with a slower pace of life many say.
The HUGE cross junction that has the fancy raised pedestrian walkway and views ring is jaw dropping, it’s overlooking like 4/5 lanes each way junction within a city 🤔🤯
Since three gorges dam has Chengdu expanded a lot much like Chongqing? even if so you guys plan ahead and plan ahead some more 🤣😂 and it shows.
You can guarantee with every video you film and upload for us that something will have you think “my god just look at either the beauty ( not just the girls 😂 or that pole dancer, remember that max 😂, hmmm was that Chengdu too ? ) and or the engineering and planning.
You then catch Tianfu Twin Towers and the floor to the heavens display panel wrapped around the buildings and words fail me so, Jaiyou Zhongguo 👊
As you walk around it always impresses me and I’m sure I say it a lot but the volume of greenery your Government or local government is planting in many of the public areas is great, you get some nice erratic shapes and colour curtesy of mother nature in amongst architects swish styles, works great time and time again.
The Tiger tail at the LV store had me a bit puzzled, ok they are jumping on the year of the Tiger but with only a tail ? not even some paws at the entrance or walk through giant Tiger jaws made of paper at the entrance, just a long tail 🤷🏻‍♂️
1:28:18 Stop that Panda 🐼 haha
1:38:59 these decorations put up for the dragon boat festival ? very pretty.
Cheers as always Max for filming your walks and sharing them with us, much appreciated 👊

Chengdu is very modern and has a long history. There are many tourist attractions around it. It has both beautiful natural scenery and a long history and culture. Sichuan Province, where Chengdu is located, also has prairie and snow-capped mountains. From the high-rise buildings in Chengdu, you can see the snow-capped mountains when the weather is good. It is a modern metropolis under the snow-capped mountains.
