- The Frostbite Bloodworm is one of my favorite chironomid larva or bloodworm patterns. Chironomid larva or bloodworm are perhaps one of the most overlooked stillwater patterns. Give a bloodworm pattern a try this season, especially early in the day, during the summer months when trout feed deeper and once again in the fall.

Thanks Gary, I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed my video. I hope this pattern performs as well for you as it has for me.

GREAT vid, thanks !!
I notice how important the BULBous HEAD IS in this pattern reminds me of my wife sometimes when comments on my head after i catch a big trout on the FLY rod She always says Look THE head is gettin Pretty bulbous Again lol!
Great pattern bud thanks
Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed my tying video. Hopefully, we can all get on the water again soon.
Cheers, Phil
Nice tie, so you wouldnt ever fish these under an indicator ? And can you fish them in shallow water?
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. I would definitely use this pattern under an indicator and in shallow water too. In my local lakes, some of the best bloodworm feeding takes place in deeper water over muddy bottoms with reduced plant growth.
Thanks, Phil
Hello! Where can i order this stuff?
Hi Ivanov, Frostbite is getting harder to find. A great substitute is Bibio Red Buzzer Wrap. You can get it online from Fly Mart. Here is a link to their page, www.flymart.ca/product.aspx?product_id=4084. I hope this helps.
Thanks, Phil
Philip Rowley thank you!
