greetings from France Do you know that this film is based on the true story of Frenchman Jules Brunet who fought the Japanese Imperial Army alongside the last samurai and if you don't want to believe me, I invite you to go watch the video (the last samurai the true story)
This is loosly based on true events. Algren is based on the French soldier Jules Brunet and Katsumoto is based on Saigou Takamori who led the Meiji restoration(Meiji was the emporer) and later the Satsuma rebillion(what the film is based on) against the Meiji government.
The idea that samurai didnt use firearms is silly. They were using firearms from the 1500's.
7 minutes in, and you're getting so many of the small things.

@@CJmidnightreactions To me comedies are the toughest to rewatch because you know them so it's never the same, but some of them you see more stuff with the rewatch. There was a few people of African descent in Japan back then. Most famously Yasuke, who was a retainer for Damyo(warlord of a region) Oda Nobunaga.
