- The Number 1 Noodle House in Saskatoon serves delicious authentic Chinese noodle dishes. The chef here has over 30 years of Chinese cooking experience, starting from Nanking, China. He and his wife have been serving delicious Chinese food at this restaurant for 8 years. They serve specialty dishes from areas such as Shaanxi Province. As well they serve Cantonese favorites and also North American Chinese dishes.
In the second half of this video, I'll show you how to make homemade Chinese noodles.
I learned to make homemade noodles when I visited the Muslim Quarter in Xi'an, China. These noodles are chewy and dense, and delicious with your favorite spices and ingredients. Great method to make noodles when you don't have any packaged noodles handy.

Recipe is below:
HOMEMADE CHINESE NOODLES
Add a little cumin and chili to get authentic Xi'an style stir fry noodles. I'll show you how to make these noodles so you will always have noodles whenever you feel like eating noodles. This
is a simple and easy recipe to make.
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water
In a mixing bowl, ad flour and salt together. Briefly mix together. Gradually a water and mix with flour. Form dough into a ball. Cover with cellophane and let dough rest for 1/2 hour.
Roll dough and then pull into one big strand. Use rolling pin to flatten dough.
Put rolled noodle or noodle strands into boiling water for 2 minutes. Put in strainer and run noodle in cold water. When noodle is cooled off, cut into 3 inch strips. Cut noodles to desired width.
You can also roll the dough and cut into 12 inch pieces. Bang and stretch the dough into noodle strands. Boil noodles for 2 minutes as well. Run noodles in cold water.
PORK AND HOMEMADE NOODLE STIR FRY
3 tablespoons peanut oil (or other cokking oil)
1 plate of homemade noodles
1 tablespoon chopped ginger and garlic
1 teaspoon sesame oil
3 to 4 oz. ground pork
1 to 3 tablespoons light soy sauce
1 to 2 teaspoons dark soy sauce
1 to 3 tablespoons Chinese oyster sauce
Pre- heat your wok or frying pan at medium to add high heat. Add cooking oil. Add chopped ginger and garlic and. Briefly stir fry. Add ground pork and briefly stir fry.
Add noodles and continue to stir fry. Add sesame oil, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce and Chinese Oyster Sauce. Do final stir fry and serve on a nice plate. Enjoy!

Ive seen hundreds of Chinese Restaurant videos, never saw Biang Biang Noodles before. Saw it in many cookbooks tho.

I'm a Saskatchewan boy, long since free in the Republic of Alberta. I respect you made a basic, nutritious meal at low cost. I could pick apart your dish but I respect your passion and effort. Perhaps vegetables could be invited to the party. Respect.

Oh wow that looks so good I wish they had these places in Nova Scotia. There are no authentic Chinese restaurants here I miss Toronto. I wish I can travel there also to Saskatoon. It’s so far though.
I'm doing documentaries about Chinese restaurants across Canada. I haven't been as far east as where you are. Right now, I'm trying to decide among New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Are there any old Chinese restaurants in Nova Scotia that have had several generations working in them? Some with original decor? Sometimes some Chinese restaurants serve authentic Chinese food if customers ask for specific dishes. Hopefully there are some of those types of restaurants in your area. there's a Sushi restaurant here in Ontario called Robo Sushi where it had those similar robot servers too. When you enter, these cute little robo toy greets you and leads you to your seat and you order using a tablet where those servers deliver your food. The sushi were just mediocre and average at best. The robot is just a cheap little marketing gimmick to attract customers.

Good idea. I went there for hot pot many years ago and I have been to the Chinese restaurant up top many years ago as well. I bet you dont need to pay that much tip over there, people in Vancouver complaint about hikes in tips those day you can even hear it in Chinese radio show.
Yes, less pressure to tip overall I would say. Recently I went to an Italian restaurant in Vancouver and I was going to tip 15% on my credit card. Their starting tip amount was 20 percent. I asked the waiter if I could tip 15 percent but he said he didn't know how to set it for the lower amount. Definitely not the way to do business. Thanks for checking out my video.

In my video, this is the first time I saw biang biang noodles made with a pasta maker. I'm thinking about buying a pasta maker at some point.
Attached is a video of biang biang noodle making when I visited Xi'an. Also, I did my version of biang biang noodles, which is not that good. I use 2 cups flour to 1 cup water. Is that similar proportion to dough used to make lasagna?

Saskatoon has decent Chinese restaurants? In PA there’s none really, so I make my own and it’s way better than takeout here.

I would have used the word "Professional" if I had the room to fit in the title. It's used in the same way as a professional athlete such as a professional football player or professional hockey player.
I'm not saying a home chef is not as good as a restaurant chef. Many home chefs can cook as well or better than restaurant chefs. Someone who does Chinese cooking in a restaurant canchurn out dozens of orders in an hour.
Maybe I'm wrong in the sense pro chef can be used to describe a home chef or someone who likes to cook. I was watching Mary Berg the other day. She has a cooking show in Canada. I believe she has not worked in a restaurant but she developed her cooking skills at home because she likes cooking. She won top chef in one of the cooking shows but I can't remember which one. I heard her giving "pro" tips in her show.

A lot of dishes from different regions have not taken off, including this one. Unless you have been to those areas or from those areas, it might be hard to relate to them. Thanks for checking out my video.
I have no problem with that dish, the noodles look home-made. Didn’t realize they have a machine to shave the dough now which makes sense so customers don’t have to wait long for their order. Chinese dishes do not disappoint no matter which region in China, always good like coming home.
@@yollyuy1529 Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Some customers aren't familiar with Chinese food from different regions in China. Once they become familiar, they may be more open to those foods.
