I interpreted this as “What we’ve done is taken the same vehicle we’ve been build and made marginal improvements to its previous counterpart. We’ve still got the same flat bottom hull that is 100% battle proven to not withstand an IED blast of almost any size. Next, we’ve taken the Haji armor military personnel add in theater, and added it ourselves from factory. We can guarantee that it is 100% the same Pakistani made steel that will stop almost nothing. The best part of all though is we’ve added ABS as well as this push bar and painted it grey.”
They built exactly what the CUSTOMER ordered. So I don't understand why there's so much hate in comment section here? I was in the Marines for 5 years. The HMMWV was designed to replace the old jeeps as a utility vehicle. It was never meant to be an armored fighting vehicle. But we slapped some armor and weapon systems on them and got the job done until something better came along, which it did. The MRAP and JLTV. Those are the new armored fighting vehicles. The US military will still keep the HMMWV in service until 2050 as a utility vehicle, which is what it was originally designed for to begin with!
The WWII Jeep wasn't mean't to be in direct combat either, but it was used for raids in the North African desert by the LRDG and also saw various machine guns and recoilless rifles mounted on it. Chances are that if something has wheels, someone will mount a weapon on it and use it in combat. Consider the used Ford pickup from Texas that ended up being bought by ISIS and used in the Middle East.
@Thrive Outlands He's referring to a Ford pickup that a plumber sold at an auction house or something. The pickup ended up in ISIS hands and they (Auction company) forgot to remove the decals that was advertising the plumber's company, then all the lemmings started calling the plumber a terrorist, and started sending death threats towards him and his workers.
I would love this model for pulling a boat trailer on a fishing trip. Perfect weekend truck when the risk of IED’s are minimal, the design of the vehicle is pretty iconic been around for a long time. For military use I think it’s seen it’s hay days when it comes to IED’s etc
I was on an exercise in southern italy with NATO forces, including 82nd airborne. We we in a convoy driving through a town, and my commander told me to turn into a side street. We were in landrovers, so we had no problem driving through the traffic. The Americans following us couldn't even turn into the street due to the width of their humvees. So they had to take another route and meet us later.
I wish I had that back in 2004 I crossed the berm from Kuwait into Iraq in the m998 with no doors our M4 carbines hanging out like a big giant porcupine and sand bags on the floor for anyone that does not know an m998 Humvee is the u.s. armys basic model no armor whatsoever
I am sometimes confused by AMG. They had a good platform for the 70’s 80’s. Coming into the new millennium, we have Econo cars throwing 200hp. The uparmored hmmwv with the upgraded engine is doin 180hp with 6.5 turbo liters. We have normal people putting duramax engines with 500+ hp all over and they come out with a heavier looking hmmwv with only 280hp. Did I miss something or are they not putting power in these things on purpose?
Sooo let me get this straight ..... you increased the approach and departure angles with those big ass bumpers, which take away from approach and departure angles???????? O.o
What about sloped armour, is it not neccessary anymore? At least for front windows I believe it would be beneficial? Also, no V-hull or any other fancy-modern mine resistance? Its still as crappy as older Humvees! I hope my country wont procure these!
One a Humvee is basically a more modular Jeep..... some expect to much from one vehicle and asking it to do something it's not intended for.....the Humvee is an off-road light troop/cargo vehicle that done the job great and was not meant to be mine resistant.....and land mines are not used in a conventional war anyone if I'm correct on that because it's outlawed....yes in today's war environment MRAPs are more effective... But I believe the Humvee is still a great vehicle and there's some with the Oshkosh tek4 suspension witch is on a lot of vehicles in our inventory...just my opinion
True. And it doesnt look like they even tried hard enough! I believe that evern 3rd party companies are able to offer better humvee variants with much better IED protection, like Textron for example with they SCTV hull kit.

TWD115 yes, it was never meant to be used that way as MRAPs are, but militaries around the world at first had only them so sent them to the front lines. The problem is - AM General still tries to pitch this as the bee knees.
pressure from a number of campaign groups organised through the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, a global movement to prohibit their use led to the 1997 Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on their Destruction, also known as the Ottawa Treaty. To date, 162 nations have signed the treaty....that's what I was thinking about.
What use is survivability if it cant move? The key is to keep adding survivability without sacrificing too much mobility because a military vehicle that isnt mobile or cant get across difficult terrain is fucking useless even more so than a vehicle that cant take a hit.
Coming from the Army as an 88M, what did you do to increase ground clearance, serviceability and IED/mine protection? So far I see a Hummer with new lipstick.
i always wondered why they didnt install removable skirts over the wheeles, somthing like the old 70s cadilacs had but armored. it would not only protect the tires but the engine and drivetrain as well.
whats wrong with the Humvee? what unneeded stuff? there is nothing wrong with it. they just took a Humvee and improved it without having to triple the price.
The humvee has no v-hull which means no reduction/dispersion in force from its most common modern threats - IEDS. Engine upgrades and wheel well armor are good and all but if you aren't addressing your largest clients need - troop/vip protection, you aren't addressing anything.
Since the MRAP exists the Humvee will play more of a support role like troop transport. You cant use an MRAP everywhere i feel like its more confined to in and around bases or on roads heavily gaurded. That said they missed the point entirely.
Agreed a Humvee is basically a more modular Jeep..... some expect to much from one vehicle and asking it to do something it's not intended for.....the Humvee is an off-road light troop/cargo vehicle that done the job great and was not meant to be mine resistant.....and land mines are not used in a conventional war anyone if I'm correct on that because it's outlawed....yes in today's war environment MRAPs are more effective... But I believe the Humvee is still a great vehicle and there's some with the Oshkosh tek4 suspension witch is on a lot of vehicles in our inventory...just my opinion
Funny thing is.. AM General have a perfectly good MRAP that could fill this role that's also based on Humvee platform. Otokar Cobra... We've been using our Cobras for the last ten years against Kurdish militants and they are to a degree even more succesful against IED attacks then some MRAPs US employs.
Spencer Caldwell MRAP is a vehicle type not a brand of vehicles. Everyone have their own mraps now. Cobra is closer to M-ATV but it's about 10 years older than it. When you guys were trying your lucks with up armored humvees our boys were pretty happy with v-hull Cobras, you should've bought them too
AM General is not a car manufacturer. Go to their website and check them out. Need a bridge built? Call AM General. They don't just provide parts.. they provide an entire vehicle life cycle in most any geographical area. And that's just a start. Of what they do
This is an improvement but the Humvee was never meant to be an unarmored troop carrier anymore than the Jeep it replaced was. AM General needs to start with a clean slate, not keep trying to turn a logistics vehicle into something its not.
diltzm yes it can be troop carrier in conventional war like it was meant to be in........ a Humvee is basically a more modular Jeep..... some expect to much from one vehicle and asking it to do something it's not intended for.....the Humvee is an off-road light troop/cargo vehicle that done the job great and was not meant to be mine resistant.....and land mines are not used in a conventional war anyone if I'm correct on that because it's outlawed....yes in today's war environment MRAPs are more effective... The improvements to an already good design are noteworthy particularly for 2nd and 3rd world nations especially with all the variants available. The Humvee was not designed as an armored car to go into battle, although it is better at handling heavy weapons mounted. IED protection is so old now. This Hummer 1.5 has LED protection. Oh and a mighty 620Nm torque. Yeah it sounds so much more than 457Lb-ft. Is this a 4 cylinder? Flat surfaces and no cargo room inside. But it can actually carry up to 4 troops inside. Whooo hooo.
I'd be interested in a side by side comparison of the NXT-360 and the M-ATV. Both seem to fix a lot of the problems from the old M1114s that the U.S. learned in Iraq and Afghanistan, but I am curious as to which is the safest option for troops around the world.
To AM General you need a new Light Tactical Vehicle that seat 4 troops think and up dated MB or M 38 jeep that would cost about 28000.00 dollars each with an lightweight up armor kit consisting of Kevlar composite material. and remember keep simple and cost as low as possible and also keep mind that form follows function .You may keep any ideal or concept that you take from me free of charge your friend the old army guy.
The same hummv, same problems as before. Did they address the issue with the useless passanger mirror? No, did they address the ergonomics issue? No, same cabin space. Did they address the issue with the improvized explosives? No, still flat bottom. As a conclussion this is trash

great summary!
I heard the same. Weird.
hahaha. really cool.

Totally agree. With the dimensions of the HMMV, it can be driven into the belly of a CH-47 or underslung via a sling load.
Well said

I need one of these for my grocery runs
I need one. I don't care if it's just "a new paintjob" I need one.
Then you’re an idiot,,
My last dream car is Humvee. I live in Seoul, Korea. Can you tell me how to buy it?
Price/transport/operating, etc.

really striict rules to using mines like they have to be detectable by a mine detector
Who are your customers?
Other than banana republics, who would want this after Oshkosh JLTV?? You can only improve so much in an inefficient 1980s platform.
True. And it doesnt look like they even tried hard enough!

Really depends on how you define survivability. There's many ways to survive, ever try and kill a fly with your bare hands, mobility is survival.
Reminder that the SR-71 traded all survivability for all the mobility.
None were shot down.
That is when you make a tank.
Not in today's fast paced warfare.
Can you straight pipe it?
Coming from the Army as an 88M, what did you do to increase ground clearance, serviceability and IED/mine protection? So far I see a Hummer with new lipstick.
Good to see AM General on display 👍
Raised it from 5 to 6 mpg?
Maybe show the interior?!
There probably isn't one to show on the model.
i always wondered why they didnt install removable skirts over the wheeles, somthing like the old 70s cadilacs had but armored. it would not only protect the tires but the engine and drivetrain as well.
I wonder if these improvements could be applied to the prior HMMWV?
and how much does it cost? would have been nice to see the inside
...No V-hull? So it's literally a humvee with a bunch of unneeded stuff and a better engine/transmission.

@@liljjbo17 pretty sure the mrap can go in the same places as an uparmored Humvee, and they are their own protection lol
Great for protection against small arms fire.
Death when it comes to an actual battlefield or IEDs
can i get one for my self? cause im a big military vehicle fan
Optional hood scoop.... hahahahaha
Timothy Smith did you see the welds on that thing lol looked like it was a last minute idea and done a couple of hours before the exhibition
scoopity poop
Can I find this at my local hummer dealer?
This looks amazing, Hello from Russia btw! 🇷🇺
So 15000 pounds is light?
manifest 73 I mean it lighter than a tank.... 🤷♂️
That's the gross weight. The curb weight is probably closer to 3 tons.
Our army still uses the humvees and its doing the job pretty well

not for long will be replaced by Oshkosh JLTV for the future.

Still has a flat bottom survivability rate is still about 5%
So we're upgrading our 80s and 90s humvees, ok future people.
in russia, we sill have UAZes, based on platform designed in 1972
Does it still consume gallon of fuel per mile
Which would be over all better the Greek licensed M1114gr Humvee or this model
So basically Bruce Wayne asked if the Humvee came in black
NO, GET IT RIGHT...... CHUCK NORRIS LOLOL
Horse power is an English unit while neuton meter for torque is a metric unit. Why mix units?
Why not release the thing into the civilian market now? You need one to drive through Detroit, or Chicago, L.A. etc., etc, etc, but especially Portland.
"we've increased angles of departure and approach"
*shows giant bumpers*
Everyone bitching it won’t survive IEDs when it was never intense to... this truck was made as a logistical truck.

The Oshkosh is twice the price and is not good at off road
Dion Scales Oshkosh is heavier and to be honest most soldiers aren't worth protecting for its price tag
when you see bolts sticking out like that, that tells you if something hits it it is going to hull break
What about that oversized bumper on the front? Probably gets in the way if the driver needs to get over a sand hill or someth
am i the only one here who thinks this is cool im glad the HMMVV is still alive
Probably.
Hmmvv are still cool. They can still be useful and serve a purpose. Just not on the battle field
would a regular jeep not be able to do the same.
the HMMVV has all of its driveline components tucked away and doesnt have solid axles to drag on the ground or break also if you buy a HMMVV you can configure it to be a 2 door 4 door or a 5 door truck in minuites
holy shit let me provide a bit of advise ....fuck the Humvee worst peace of shit machinery every created i would rather ride into combat on a fucking tricycle.
those are some crazy numbers. 250 HP, but 620 Nm torque to move a vehicle weighing 15,000 lbs
I-I-I think in love!!!
Nice! In 15 years those will make great daily drivers!
How much is this nxt 360?
Does it have Apple Car Play?
will this be the new humvee that we see being used again instead of the Oshkosh JLTV?

Meant to meet a price point
Can I please get a free Sample delivered so I can test it for you and let everyone know how good it is?
Everyone complaining: it's the same old crap!
Me: can I have it with an American flag paint job?!😎
Humvee with a hood scoop and cool paint/body work
New hummer looks great but can a civilian buy one
Soldiers' coffin
Just call it the Humvee H2. Worked for GM.
Awesome would love one
Looks so bass How much
Ah yes the optional hood scoop. The most important tactical part of a military vehicle.
I'd be interested in a side by side comparison of the NXT-360 and the M-ATV. Both seem to fix a lot of the problems from the old M1114s that the U.S. learned in Iraq and Afghanistan, but I am curious as to which is the safest option for troops around the world.
Blade4952 JLTV mrap oshkosh is hands down our best option, in my opinion.
M-ATV has significant more blast protection thats why it was procured
M-ATV has angled bottom armor, more space, more power, is more reliable, and better survivability
The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle blows this away
So its not General motor company?
What about crew,s comfort? Can your engineers sit in this car and travel 1000 km continuesly? Crew don't have space to place feets , understand?
Who the hell would want a 105mm howitzer on a Humvee?
Shoot and scoot baby
I would!
Nah, I want a TOW launcher!
Wow. Looks exactly the same
William B. Travis not really
Energy absorbing seats is that a hemmorid option as the bottom iz still weak
Needs a Cummings diesel engine and Alison transmition. Then I'd be interested.
Looks like you just upgraded the suspension and powertrain of an up-armored HMMWV
Why use the old POS GM 6.5 diesel..... Duramax....Cummins?
Excellent 💝
I want one
I swear ive seen this exact vehicle in a direct-to-dvd movie before
"The customer" isn't necessarily the US. Defense contractors routinely make money exporting weapons to friendly countries.
But can it survive an IED?
I like how they use standard for horsepower but metric for torque. Whatever has bigger numbers i guess.
GOD DAMMIT SHOW THE INTERIOR
The same hummv, same problems as before. Did they address the issue with the useless passanger mirror? No, did they address the ergonomics issue? No, same cabin space. Did they address the issue with the improvized explosives? No, still flat bottom. As a conclussion this is trash
Sure. Hey SGT I'm scared I don't want to drive. It works every time.
That front grill is a jeep trademark.
Cool ~ car ♪
Sounds just like one of those Apple product reveal event. Very innovative and innovative!
