Thank you for posting the podcasts on RUclips. I enjoy doing "reclaiming" cleaning while listening. For example, recently I had to return to washing the dishes because my husband seriously cut his hand. We did swap chores, but we both prefer when he washes and I dry. Unfortunately, I tried to go back to having "enough dirty dishes to make washing dishes worthwhile." Fortunately our kitchen is now decluttered to our ordinary time clutter threshold so "enough" is much less than when I decluttered well during COVID, 4.5 years ago! Thank you, Dana! I hope this also helps somebody or 3 scrolling through comments.
I love listening to Dana while I declutter. and my motto for 2025 is, "Take it there now." That phrase has been a game changer for me these last couple of months--keep in mind I started my decluttering journey with Flylady more than 20 years ago. 🤓
Sometimes if something has to leave a room to be put somewhere, if you put it near the door closest to that hallway, it reminds you to pick it up the next time you head that direction. Also, anytime in a space and you see trash, pitch it.
"The Snag that Stops Everything" - oh, how I know about that. I am so happy to tell you that I finished a STSE over Christmas, that had been sitting around since 2020. I bit the bullet and finished it (it had been 99% complete for 4 years. 4 years!) and gave it to the person it was meant for. Just in time for a life situation requiring bandwidth (and table space) that that STSE was robbing me of. And I thank you, Dana, for helping me do that.
Good morning, Dana😃. You are making my day. I purposely slept in this morning, and here you are ready to inspire me while I ate breakfast and took my morning meds. You have helped me so much. I too have the problem of having the place where something belongs be inaccessible 😂. I’ve also realized that I need to stop “doing “ (whether watching TV, playing a game on my phone, or listening to a podcast) an hour before I want to be in bed. That way I’ll be able to do my night routine and not skip something like washing my face or putting my clothes away. It will mean that I can wake up on time and not throw my whole day out of whack 😮. Thank you, thank you, thank you ❤❤❤❤❤
That's me. There are too many things in the way of the "take it there now" spot. I'd have to move clothes boxes out of the way to get into the spare room. But, once in there, there are trashable and donatable items.
Yeah, I can't take it there for one room, a bedroom which has had dust, dirt, mould smell boxes from moving wherever removals person stored the ( like outside in muck and covered in chemicals). HVAC affected, gave me diarrhea ( sorry) . Allergic skin reaction from cleaning or whatever was on things. Seems like a big job to correct.
I feel like this is a direct call out to me 😂 Taking my Christmas decorations down Mon I came down with a bug literally mid way, I had a temperature and felt nasty, had to abandon it and go to bed. Only got up Fri and haven't had the energy or mental bandwidth to finish it. I'm finishing my cuppa and doing a small section at a time. TY Dana 💜💝
I found some necklaces I have not worn in years. I am thinking about donating them even though there is nothing else I would store in their place. It is weird in my house that we are in very different stages of decluttering, but I figure every bit helps even if it is not every room that is simplified.
