Cody releases a video
Me: "best part of the day."
and then while you are clicking on the video, “BeSt PaRt Of ThE dAy!” whilst sort of screeching.
This is what I think 💜💜I love Cody’s vids! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
True❤️
Once a year as a tradition of our club our coach’s Christmas present to us 100 100s
Same
I don’t remember the hardest set I’ve done, probably because my brain couldn’t function after that set enough to remember it.
Lol I feel you
@@brandongear7184 ruclips.net/video/FqlMwYcvZRk/видео.html
You were traumatized beyond belief and your brain blocked it off
True
What makes it harder is a coach that gets mad at you for going slow
*24 Hour Practice*
Cody: “That’s borderline abusive.”
Me: “No. That’s abusive”
ruclips.net/video/FqlMwYcvZRk/видео.html
Hardest set ever: swim every event offered by U.S.A swimming with 10 second rests in between each event
😳 that sounds rough! LC or SC? And pace?
@@greatstuff5 short course because there is technically more events as we did 25s as well
We something close to that. There were teams and once everyone on a team finished an event they were allowed to start the next one so it was a race
where I swim we call those board swims- it happens if someone misses an event, or if coach is just in a bad mood
Really not that bad. Unless they are on intervals. Like for the 1500 or 800 IM
I just wanna see the extra footage where Cody has to stop his car get out in the cold and go get the camera from some of those shots 😂
it’s 5:30 AM, and i’m watching cody swim
the hardest set i’ve ever swam was 10 x 200’s on 5 seconds of rest between each 200, we do it every single tuesday, then we go 20 x 100’s stroke on the same 5 seconds of rest every thursday
U do that every week, omg
I would die
That’s rough buddy
oof.
I did that, but instead of 10x200 they were 20 and instead of 20x100 stroke we did 24
To whoever is reading this: have a great Christmas! You'll crush 2021!
Thanks
Thank you, you too!!
Tell that to COVID lmao. Jk, being serious, thank u and I hope the best for u!
AMEN YESSIR
2021 will probably crush us but thanks anyway
The practice was called "Come Fly with Me." Basically, every single lap (from warm up to cool down) was butterfly. The total practice was over 5,000 total yards of various 25s, 50s, 100s, and 200s. It was a real "yikers" moment.
Yeah...after that set, everyone made the joke that next time we should "back away slowly."
“Olympic set”
Everything all out suited up, 3-4 minutes rest between distances:
400 freestyle
400 medley
200 fly
200 backstroke
200 breaststroke
200 freestyle
100 butterfly
100 backstroke
100 breastroke
100 freestyle
50 freestyle
I think i would have died
I-
O my
You did that? Holy shit
I’ve done it twice, it was brutal both times
Mad respect to Cody! New born, Christmas and still consistently posting quality content every Wednesday! F. And still swimming!
Merry Christmas! Thank you for making this video, it was awesome! nice to see blake again!
To everyone who reads this, merry christmas, 2021 will be a lot better
Hopefully 🙏
Will it though?
Let's hope so...
Joe Biden’s America probably not.
We did 20 100’s, 10 seconds or faster off your PR (57, so had to hold a 1:07). I literally emptied tears out of my goggles 🥲
#Pain
Sounds like an easy mile pace set
thats like a mile pace set
I did the same set and my or is 58
@@mattwilliamson3555 it's not easy to hold 10 seconds of your pr for 20 100s its really tiring
I was a distance swimmer and during my first year of college, my coach surprised us as the distance group was only having 1 practice that day. We were all really excited as of course, it was 2 a days seemingly all winter break. The 1 practice was brutal and it went something like this..
1x1000 warm up
2x900
3x800
4x700
5x600
6x500
7x400
8x200
9x100
10X50 (cool down)
Grand Total of about 19.500 yards
I would already leave by the second 900 🥲🥲
been there... wasn't fun
Was there a pace you were supposed to go?
Cap, eint no way, im a siwimmer and thats cap
Thank you Cody for all of yours videos which are great !! Happy Christmas and happy new year’s everybody !!
Merry Christmas Cody! Thanks for keeping us going through 2020 x
Probably the hardest set I had to do was 10 100’s all out breaststroke where we got 3+ minutes of rest each time but weren’t allowed to cool down, stretch or even stand and had to let the lactate set in.
A one mile the hard way with th senior group at my swim place and I’m only 11 I cried once I was done
What do you mean the hard way?
Always look forward to a new Cody vlog!!
Looking forward to having you here in Tokyo for Olympic next year !
A 2000m fly set
Keep up the good work and have a good christmas
Well I once had a 4800m training, a 4050m of which was fly💪
PS it was not a Christmas training but it was probably one of the hardest i've ever had
I just did this set this morning. Definitely not the hardest set i've done but it was pretty hard.
5x100 IM @1:10
4x100 BNF @1:20
3x100 Free @1:05
2x100 WNF @1:20
100 DPS
4 Times.
6000 Meters (SCM) in just that set. We ended up doing over 10,000 in 2 hours.
yards ?
@@davidmakena2984he said short course meters
I look forward to your vlogs every week🙂 much love❤️❤️❤️
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas, Cody Miller.
I can’t remember the full practices exactly, but I remember having 20 full out sprint 25s with in IM order with 45 second planks on the deck in between every one
I've heard of this set in our team, (I didn't do it) it's name was "Hyvää Joulua Saatana" which is Finnish for "Merry Christmas Satan" or "Merry Christmas Mfs". It was 20x400im.
Ooff
Paljon menee 40000im
@@uuni608 Its actually an 8000IM
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you, Cody! Let's be jolly and enjoy!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Oh I wish our pools were open in Pennsylvania. Enjoy you new baby! Ugh terrible sets during hell week.
The hardest ones for me where: 100×100m, 10×200m butterfly, 4×1500 backstroke. But its always fun to finish them and then be able to tell other people what you did
All in one practice?! Wow! Thats awesome!
Oh my! That's an accomplishment in itself!
just to be clear that wasn't in one training. Those are practices we did when we trained on stage (I don't know the right translation of that word. It's when you go abroad to train.) We did have a second training a day tho but not as hard as the first one.
@@woutwielfaert3426 oh, thats still amazing though!!
One of the hardest sets we have done was 10x200's best effort on an interval where you receive 15 seconds rest, so I went on a 2:30 interval because previously during practice my fastest was a 2:15
Haven't had a lot of swim practise lately due to the recent lockdown in the Netherlands.Whenever i watch your videos it's like i am swimming myself❤️
MERRY CHRISTMAS CPDY VLOG 🎄🎁AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉
My Christmas training is given to me by my coach and it’s 10x 200s evens backstroke odds free and then 3x 100s butterfly
on an easy day
And I swim on the same team you did in high school so all my sets come from coach Ron
Hello! Merry Christmas! Wish there was snow in the pool for u lol
This Christmas has been different but last Christmas in holiday training I did 12x400 alternating IM and rolling IMs
Love the vlogs Cody, keep it up!
We always had a training trip at Christmas and always at the same place. And always the same sets for 4 years. But the two hardest practices were 10x400 IM descend interval LC and 60x50’s fly and an extra 8 if you wanted to do extra while the other swimmers on different intervals were still swimming
“Armageddon”: you race every single event there is once all out for time. 1:30 rest after each race. The order is determined by a random number generator
that sounds horrible but I would actually want to try that someday
200 fly at end 🤩
We called it EEFAS (Every Event From A Start) but there was no rest in our version. Just back to back, get out dive in and so on.
I did something similar to this set but (we didn't do the mile because lets be real no one would swim that) but You could gamble any race and swim oyur best race and if you dont go a best time you immediately go into that race no rest
hardest set i’ve done:
800m warm up
20 x 200m on 3mins - form (back)
10 x 100m on 1.50mins
Hey Cody, instantly liked btw, my hardest set soo far in the Polar Bear Club was 20 x 200s free as 10 @2.30 and 10 @2.25 L.C at 170 - 180 bpm. Pretty rough but your videos keep me mentally stable during this Aerobic, Threshold, Hardcore, Insane, Nuts training camp that I am in right now so, thanks😂😄
The production value was UP in this video. Very good job on the editing
90x50 fly Long Course Meter - During what we call “Hell Week.” Its a bit ridiculous of a set in my opinion but the goal is to “try” and not break stroke or break stroke as least as possible. The standoff depends on your level and age.😳😱🥵🤗🤩🥳
What the fawk 😀
If I'm being honest, if the goal is just to not break stroke. I kinda want that set. I love working on my technique when it's like a 50 fly.
i love how theyre all just practicing and they have motivational cardboard cutouts in the backround and act like its normal
Merry christmas Miller family
We did every high school event including the mile off blocks sprint on Christmas Eve two years ago
hardest christmas training sets, you ask? let a backstroker tell you a tale of horror...
400 shakeout (30 min dryland prior), followed by 8x100 on 1:30 odds IM even free
16x50 4 kick on :55, 4 swim BC 3/5/7/9 on :50, 4 pull on :45, 4 desc on :40
prep: 6 rounds, 100 kick 150 back swim interval switch. what this means is the starting interval for the kick was the ending interval for the swim, and vice versa, transitioning 5 seconds per round. so, for me, the kick intervals were 1:30/1:35/1:40/1:45/1:50/1:55 by round, while the swim intervals were 1:55/1:50/1:45/1:40/1:35/1:30 by round. painful, to say the least.
main: 3 rounds
8x100 followed by a 200 back
round 1: 100's are 10 yds off every wall on 1:40, 200 back is on 3:00 same way at 80% effort on speed
round 2: 100's are 1 fast 1 ez on 1:45, 200 back is 90% effort (within 10 sec of best time)
round 3: 100's are desc 1-4, 5-8 to 95% effort on 1:25 (within 3-4 sec of best time on 4 & 8), 200 was broken, beat best time.
10x50, odds free BC 5, evens kick on 1:00 cooldown
to put it into reference, by the time we hit round 3 of the main set, i had already been on pace for close to a best time in practice twice in the 200 back, and your legs were starting to cramp up. oh, and did i mention this was outside, as a backstroke practice?
needless to say, i got a nice tan.
good lord.... i can only imagine if a flyer did this
30 50s with 10secs in between and then 16 50s two times all on our best stroke
Rough time to be a flyer
We had 17x400 as 1. Free Fast 2. Fast Medley in Long Course, on 5.20 for both. That was a 2 weeks of hell set for the distance group. The sprint ones was 40x50s max dive on 45, Medley order in long course
Texas long horns set. 3x25s 8 times through on :20 for breaststroke abs then we do the set again freestyle on :15. We do that every day the week of Christmas
my hardest set ever was: 20x100 as fast as you can, every 1:20 (long course, meters)
yeah that would be hard ive seen yet
Cody
Excellent. Love having tge 3 star Lily, Blake and Cody, but the real star was Axle. Have a wonderful Christmas 🎄
There’s a set that my high school team does. It’s not the hardest hell well set, but it’s unique. It’s called 90 seconds of hell. You start doing 100’s on the 1:30, but after each one, the interval drops by a second (so the 2nd one is on the 1:29). You go until fail. You sit out one interval after you fail and drop down to 75’s until you fail. You do this until you do a final 25 on 20 seconds. We also write down what intervals we lasted till for each of them and compare with previous years.
today we did “12 days of christmas” and the first envelope a guy on my team picked was 200 fly so we did 12x200 flys😓
Ha! That's nothing 😉 I did 28x200 flies at 10 years old
I did 9000x200 flies at 3 years old... amateurs
The hardest set I've ever done is probably this killer long course distance set.
8 x 100s @1:25
1,000 free smooth @1 min rest
8 x 100s; 4 @ 1:25, 4 @ 1:20
1,000 free strong @1 min rest
8 x 100s @1:20
Min rest
1,000 all out
Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
I remember last season for our Christmas practice we had to do the Auburn sprint set (iykyk ;) ), but as 50 freestyle sprints (SCY) and the occasional relay in between sets. It was absolute pain, especially for me, since I'm kinda slow, so I was only with the rest of the group for the first 2 of each set. Long story short, it was not fun at all XD
100 25s fly on 20 sec (we are 11-12)
40×200 freestyle on difficult intervals this was the most killer set for a 50m freestyler
how long did that take ahhaha
Merry Christmas mate
cody is just such a good dad man its nice to se that.
The fact that I left my couch and got to the pool on Christmas... that was the hardest on ever!!!!
My Christmas training is..... Wait they closed the pool. Well I guess that my training is not to get fat
Yep. For people who love swimming, that’s Hell Week, or Month, or however long the people can accept being locked down by their stupid governments.
YOU are by far my favorite swimmer to watch
Last day of training camp, main set LCM: 7x200 starting at 4 minutes descending pace by 10 seconds, then 7x600 50fly/50back, 50back/50breast etc. 15 seconds rest
30*400 free set and plus without any assistance !!!! Omg i cannot even talk about it !!!!! and i am 15!
It's impossible
@@robertocastagna7618 i know right it seems impossible but the irony is that we did it
35 x100 all on 1:15 ;-; absolute death I tell you
Same
It was not absolute death though I was holding 1:10
nice
although for me the guys had to hold 1:00s or better and girls had to hold 1:06s or better
That’s the death part :)
Hi Cody, our university coach used to do for our "signature" Christmas training set of 100 x 100s. Savage.
Hardest set i ever did was a 1000m warm-up then 1000m,900m,800m700m,600m,500m,400m,300m,200m,100m freestyle a minute rest after each one. We had fins for some and arm paddles and snorkel for some. It was a 3hr practice
This is my first year swimming. Started like 7 months ago. Anyways, hardest set was:
12x200
Broken up into 4 sets. Odd stroke and even free. I forget specially how we were supposed to swim each set but the main point was that every set started again every 4 minutes and within each 200 the distance is broken up into 25s 50s 75s and 200. Each set is at max effort which is why the interval for the 200s is 4 minutes then you go straight into the next 200.
24x200m in track is still the hardest workout in any endurance sport ive done. Or 5miles at 6min per mile pace when i tried to keep up with some varsity kids one year on a tempo day.
My old team did the 24hr practices too. They were a ton of fun! We had tents, and pizzas and all that stuff. It was in San Diego, so it wasn’t too bad outside. (As opposed to colorado where I am now).
I have another. 4x200s on 3 minutes jumpouts, 16x100s best average (hold 400 pace so for me like 1.06-1.07) then 8x50s Max Dive Medley order on 3 mins walk backs. Half the squad ended up sharing one bin. Best bonding time when you are all throwing up into a trash can.
Happy Holidays Everyone! If I could pick one main set from the 10 years of holiday swim practices I have done... I would have to pick Christmas Eve practice 2015. The main set was definitely brutal but so rewarding at the same time.
Main set:
4X (400 IM, 4x100 fly, 4x100 back, 4x100 breast and 4x100 free)
Love your enthusiasm.
And I might have your polka-dotted Speedo
My friend and I adopted your line before we get in the water for morning practice we always say best part of the day!
All I want for Christmas is a great video from Cody: Check and a like from Cody
200m warmup... 4x15 for activation ...10x400m first 5 all out... rest build pase then 4x100 kick, pull and all out freestyle then 20 over speeds off the blocks all out.. and yeah hahaha... merry Christmas to you and your family Cody love the vlogs bro
I can't even talk about it...it was too painful
also cody axel is so sweet!
I don't remember the hardest to swim set diverted during Christmas training. I remember the hardest set we would do every Thursday for a while which is like warm up then 30 25s underwater with fins then 10 200s on a set time frame. The first time I did that I couldn't move when I got home. The only thing I remember from Christmaz training was doing so many wall sits that my thighs felt super solid.
Hey Cody, there are timers you can get for your Christmas lights so they turn on and off when you want them too, they are really convenient
Its 4am..I'm at work..this just made my day
Cody, I wish I was doing that set or any set for that matter. I was not far off of the required time for the Olympic trials. I planned on working out past my senior swim season to try and make it to the Olympic trails. Now they are 6 months away and all pools around me are closed and all I can do is dryland. It has been a dream of mine to participate in the Olympics.
We did a set on New Year’s Eve a couple of years ago. 100x100 off of varying turnarounds and varying pace
I mean the last time i did swim training with a team was 2017 but it wasnt a hard set but i somehow got a rip in my long flippers which probs happened on the fly part of my set. Which is sad because of not doing any type of full on swim training I have only been doing sets with them on for the full set to get my technique and stamina up before I go into doing certain drills i used to do in my team swim training, the day i get to do that will be an exciting day for me 😁 also merry Christmas
Oh, and five-hour practices on Sat. (7:00 to noon) every Saturday throughout the year. (Sunday was our "easy" day w/only a 3-hour practice on that day.)
First love you so much you inspire me everyday
Hi cody tysm !!!!! For liking my comment friends and I went litteraly CRAZY .. keep up the good work 🖤
One time when I was 8 my coach got mad at the team and we all had to do 500 reps of squats pushups and chrunches then we had to do a pretty hard set also I forgot the exact yards and times but there was another set called the Christmas tree set that happens every year that is really hard
The classic 100x100 m of the 31st december.
Happy Xmas everyone
Cody you should make a video about lifestyle health hacks like eating etc
I forget the exact set but we had to do this set before the pool closed it was called the 12 days of swimmas and we had too much time so we had to do it 2 times so we ended up doing 24 different sets that day I was dying!
I am 11 and the hardest set I’ve done before was 4x50 choice and then we did one of Michael Phelps favorite set, it was 30x50 on the 45.
the hardest set of my life (ever, xmas time or not) my coach had us do an all out IM set of 45 200 IM on 100 IM Pace. (this was the last practice before our xmas break), also this was my second week of training back from breaking my foot. tbh all of us died after and we also had our teams secret santa and no one would want to talk to the coaches bc we were all so mad.
OH! Yesterday we did a set that we did a 200 medley and then get out of the pool do a push up. Then, we dive into a sprint 50 fr. We did that 4 times in a row no rest. It was hard but it was great.
Without your videos, I am still swimming today. I had a moment where I wanted to quit but you gave me motivation.
This Christmas may the peace of God fill the Miller Family with his love greetings from Lima Perú.🙌🎅💕💕
60*100 on a slowly descending interval starting around a pretty easy 1:15 and the last few finishing on a 1:00, I can’t remember the way they descended but there was no extra rest between sets of 100s it was just straight through and there was also intervals like 1:07.5, and was such a frustrating set, honestly though I think my anger powered me through it. I’ve done sets that are more painful or tiring but I hated this set so much I just had to put it up there, it was also the last practice of Christmas training with the previous few day being full of distance training. I don’t think I’ve had nearly the feeling of dread that I had looking up at that set since,.
Dude ur vids r great keep it up😃😃😃😃😃
Lol I had Christmas training today but I live in Australia and it was in an outdoor pool and I’m not even kidding my cap ran is sooo bad
I’ve had 2 stupid hard practices during Christmas, one physical and one mental. The first one was what we called the “ultimate medley” and it was every single event in swimming. Even 25’s and the 100 IM. It was kinda fun, but we started with the mile, so it was pretty hard all the way through just cause we were dead from the start.
The mental set was during my first high school swimming season. My coach wanted to do a set revolving around the 12 days of Christmas, so he wrote a set in that fashion. Little did he know, he accidentally wrote a 4 hour swim set. It wasn’t too physically taxing, but an hour and a half later, we were around day 7 or 8, and not even halfway through. Additionally, we had Christmas music playing the ENTIRE time. So we got very sick of redoing the first 3 or so days while hearing frosty the snowman for the fifth time. We eventually stopped the Christmas music and quit halfway through day 10, cause it would have been at least another hour after that to finish the set.
Earliest I’ve ever been for one of your videos.
Here was my set a few days ago: BTW I’m an Age group swimmer
(Warm up)
400
8 50’s on 45
4 100’s descend 1-4
2 rounds of variables

8 25’s backstroke on 30
3 200’s 2:10 or better
8 25’s freestyle on 30
2 200’s 2:05 or better
(Post main set)
3 100’s on 1:20
6 50’s drill down swim back (choice)
