How can we differentiate the pronunciation of "the verb live" from "the verb leave"? Could you please clear that?

Hi, I would like to ask you if it's correct to say - "How much time does it take you to do it?" instead of "How long does it take you to do it?". The same question refers to interrogative and negative sentences with the same structure "it takes". Thanks!
