  • Lakeridge Health is home to the largest interventional radiology (IR) program in Durham Region. But what is it? Take a moment and watch this inside look at an incredible program which will double in size in the next two years. Lakeridge Health Foundation must raise $5 million to outfit and rebuild the new IR suite. With your generosity, we can bring better, faster and safer health care to more people in our community.

Hi, thanks for the video. As a commercial tip: dont mention the negative. Equipment of 14 years old still works. If it performs withing today's standards...why even mention the age?
You HAVE the stuff, but...if you have the brains, you have the stuff...and more ;)

i believe the whole point of this video was to get some federal grants or support for these interventional radiology procedures by showing how effective they can be even with outdated equipment, not make some commercial. They're a hospital. Sick people will come.
And yeah you can perform the same procedures with old equipment but do you realize the margin of error that exists when using old equipment? Doctors have to take board exams every so often to prove that they are up to date with current medical findings and knowledge. You can't expect someone to perform a complex IR procedure with equipment from 2000. There's been a lot of advancement in tech since then. Like a procedure that could take about 8 hours back then could theoretically be cut down in as little as 2 hours or even 1 with the right technology. And it could minimize a lot of the risk involved in some of these procedures. Wouldn't you want your doctor to be using up to date equipment when going through a surgery or would you be fine with him or her using 20 year old equipment that "works"?

14 years is not that old. I thought it's 40 years. Sounds like the doctor wishes a new model.

it's not about the years but the tech that happened it could be last week a new tech released and your equipment will be outdated and you can have it for 50 years long and still new cuz there weren't new tech invented yet

Eat less junk food, smoke less cigarettes, and get more exercise and you’ll decrease your chances of needing these procedures done, folks.

Not exactly true, I am 18 with a blood clot and need this and before I had a blood clot I was extremely healthy and active. Never smoked and eat healthy… But I still got a blood clot in my left leg? So this statement is not 100% accurate.
