Does anyone think there's any course the Pats could've taken that Felger WOULDN'T be pressing this same, basic narrative? Did you see him totally destroy that Chris Kristy crème look alike Lombardi in another segment. Wow I’d pay money to see Felger go after Bill in an interview Stephen A got Brady on his show a while back
Judy's comments about why Bill didn't get hired sound fine... in a vacuum. It's not. Bill comes with his Bill Requirements (i.e. baggage), and THAT is a huge reason why he wasn't hired. If it were just about plugging in a guy to best run a team on Sundays, of course he'd get hired. But it's not.
It’s not just the requirements. It’s then also giving those requirements to a 72 year old. IMO, if bill had the same resume but was 10 years younger, he gets a job easily, but to blow out your entire front office for 2 years of Bill is just stupid. Kinda the same reason lots of teams weren’t in on Brady. Do you really want to blow up your setup just for one guy for two or three years. Tampa was in a place with a loaded roster, but no QB, so it was a very easy transition. That situation never opened up for Belichick tho
@@tmanning2000 No doubt. And I think that's why what she said is too simplistic/lacking context to be valid or even relevant. It has nothing to do with how good a coach he is. Dallas does not have nearly the talent to win the SB. A QB who has running skills, but the only way he can reliably hit a receive is if somebody draws a string between the two to show him where to throw the ball. Also they have a crap GM, who continually makes stupid decisions.
Two tackles, a QB, a new offensive system, probably two WRs, no TEs under contract, an aging center who may retire this or next year, probably also need a new edge rusher to at least pair with Judon for this year, or replace depending on contract situation cause he isn’t young. I'm way late to this party but Belichick should never again be trusted with a HC position. He's borderline megalomaniacal, and a cancer in any position of authority. I would hire him as a DC with very minimal authority only. He's also a HUGE hypocrite. He expects EVERYONE ELSE to be accountable and team driven so, WHY ISN'T HE??!! It's abundantly clear that Belichick is a brilliant Narcissist. He's the best defensive and tactical mind the game has ever seen, but he has NO respect for offense and offensive players, and NO respect for the Owner that employs him. He has repeatedly undermined what was best for the team while claiming otherwise. Sitting Malcolm Butler in SB 52 threw ALL Players under the Bus! How was that best for the TEAM?! Players are human and all different. It's a HC duty to manage personalities and CREATE an atmosphere of SUCCESS for overall TEAM benefit! Ruining the starting QB consciously or unconsciously because he isn't "your guy" is Textbook NARCISSISM and absolutely NOT what is “BEST” for the TEAM! Belichick does what is best for his EGO! He may have cut his football teeth under Navy Athletics, and he may THINK he runs a team modeled on the military, but he does NOT! He FORGOT that EVERY serviceman swears an oath and is accountable to a higher authority! The Admiral or General, may not agree with or even respect The President, but it's their duty to their country to follow orders and to NEVER undermine or subvert “The Boss” or the MEN under their command. Belichick repeatedly undermined and subverted Kraft and the players. IMO, players were willing to endure the "Belichick Way" because they believed TB12 ensured a legitimate SB shot year after year. Yes, the defenses were equally important to the repeated success, but The GOAT was the GLUE that held it all together. When the glue dissolved, it unsurprisingly fell apart.
Belichick had a deal in place in 2018 to send Gronk to the Lions for a 1st Rd pick. Gronk threatened to retire if the trade went through. So the Patriots were left carrying Gronk an additional year. Gronk retired at the end of the season and when he returned said he'd only play with Brady in Tampa. How is that on Belichick? The Patriots went out and signed Antonio Brown as a way of appeasing Brady. Antonio Brown goes out and gets accused of DV after a summer of lawsuits and distractions. The Patriots (reportedly at Kraft's request) cut Brown which infuriated Brady. How is that on Belichick? Brady's deal had $25+ million in dead cap $ tied to it. The last contract he negotiated said he couldn't be franchised. Add Brady + Gronk + AB's dead cap $ and you're pushing $40+ million in dead cap charges based on what? 1 retirement, 1 terminated contract and out of loyalty to Brady. This narrative this all falls on Bill is disingenuous, manufactured NONSENSE being peddled by a hack media full of lazy overachievers. The Patriots sold out to win SB's over Atlanta and the Rams and they had a shot at another and lost to the Eagles in between. With that came cap consequences. Belichick tried getting out from Gronk.
