    Good video. What was that number on the sharpness test? Was that number good for sharpness? How does that number compare to fixed heads?

      175 was the sharpness measurement. From everything I've tested thus far it is pretty sharp, as far as compared to fixed heads its really just based on which head. The RAD Mad Man measured in at 125, but I've had some other fixed heads come in at 400 right out of the package.

    I agree when your shooting a high power bow penetration doesnt really matter, it will keel

    Great video Trent. Id say your best. Id also say, I love Rage! I believe they fly the best at distance (closest flight from a broadhead vs a field point). I also think there isnt a broadhead that does the damage Rages do. I personally have not had a failure to open but have heard those horror stories. I did shoot a big boar hog w a 2" Rage NC, & got like almost no penetration. Hogs have that protective shield on their vitals, so woth that consideration, my shot placement could've been a contributing factor. In any case man. Great video. What state are you in?

      I appreciate the kind words. Those hog shields are tough! I'm located in Illinois.

      @@Chestthumperoutdoors, im flying Sunday from Indiana to Chicago for my connection back home to FL. That will be the 1st time Ive been to Illinois.

      Chicago is a different world from the rest of the state. A lot of corn and beans where I am and some pretty good whitetail. Not much in the way of skyscrapers.
      High taxes through out the entire state though. Lol

      A Ravntek 2.0 would of penetrated and killed the boar. Rage is nearly infringing on Ravntek's patent. But there NC contraption still dont work near as good, because the blades lose momentum on impact and need to be kicked out causing alot of energy loss and no penetration. There old slip back heads are just as inferior to a Ravntek, rage has many ways to fail due to blades stopping on impact flipping wildly allowing too much time and space for something to go wrong especially on angled hits. Of you notice how rage makes there ends of the blade, thats not for looks, thats because the end of the outer blade on angled hits flips facing forward and can basically stab into the target and close the blade back up, so to help this they have to avoid having pointed end and stabbing into target causeing even more failures. But this still is one way it still fails.. Also there shoulders of blades are just waiting to slip under the hide and not deploy right, especially on angle hits where they use a big cutting tip blade(this is why they can't and you lose alot of cutting surface in front increasing penetration) the angle creates a bigger hole and if you hit bone and it deflects the head inward centering it in this now enlarged tip hole the blades will slip under and not deploy and you can bet you probably won't find the deer easily if at all.

    Sad these heads break after hitting firewood when the sevr 1.5 mechanical heads can go threw a car hood or shot at a cynderblock and still beable to go hunt with the same head

    When did Rage use O-rings?

    • @Chestthumperoutdoors
      @Chestthumperoutdoors  3 года назад

      The original rage and the generation right after used O rings. After that they went to collars. Now the NC design.

    Guy must like tracking “might use this for a doe hunt if I don’t want the deer to run very far” ...and why do people shoot wood? If the deer is behind a tree probably not a good shot to take...if your shooting boards to show the blades will break well they weren’t designed to shoot boards...the public just wants to know will it kill stuff faster...and it sounds like if you shoot fixed blades you like a long hard track job QDMA did research on fixed vs mechanical thousands of deer shot look at the results don’t be stupid

    I enjoyed the test..But test a ravntek broadhead! and you will see the mechanical superiority in which it opens. And design superiority in which it stays together vs all other rear deploying mechanicals. Ravntek is a REAR mechanical thats as reliable as any fixed blade shot on any angle but deadlier. How could you ask for anything more. It be great if the true physics of how all these mechanicals compare are exposed properly by someone. Rages physics happening can fail. There desperately trying to overcome physics with there crazy design cuts in blades and the function. Ravntek needs to not do such desperate acts.. Ravntek is patented, and in time should be one of the best selling heads on the market once hunters hear, try it and understand how it works. It cannot fail!. It opens like a Cadillac, smooth, easy and quick loseing no blade momentum. The blades can also pivot back and forth extremely smoothly and go around bone if needed on severe angle hits and then instantly lock open once past. You can just open and close it in your hand and will see and feel that theres nothing like it on the market. Problematic stop on impact slip back floppy blades like nap, rage, and now other companies copying, cannot be corrected. Instead of one of the big companies giving in to there ego and just buying the ravntek technology so hunters could experience the better physical aspects of it, they try to out market it. But there now nearly if not infringing on it. But there's is still a contraption waiting to fail on someone, they will just keep misleading hunters into buying there unleading technology that is no longer alone on the market anymore nor the best mechanism
