The BBC already know how to make a company pay, as they already run BBC Studios, who make a profit. Why can't (won't?) the government simply order them to base the whole BBC organisation on the same model, where it pays for itself and generates profit, just like any other TV broadcasting company?

I paid for my pension from 43 years of Nat Ins and superannuation taken off my wages. Pensioners like myself often have money in the bank from lump sums back from these payments and possibly from downsizing their house. But we have a low weekly income. I have about £1250 a calendar month. Half what is considered to be the least required to live. The Winter Fuel Payment helped through the cold winters. It was like a Thank You. The Pension is not a benefit. To receive it you have to have worked. But receiving it gets in the way of getting other benefits.
