Bessa users unite! I have the T, the quirky one that only has a rangefinder window, and you must suppy a hot shoe viewfinder for your lens focal length. But I love it! The rangefinder is bigger and brighter than any you'll get inside a viewfinder, and I shoot zone focus a lot on the street without the rangefinder distracting me by suggesting a different focus than I've chosen (at f8-f11 and a 35mm lens, who cares?). Also the meter is at a glance down, rather than having to bring it up to my eye. Even the loud shutter has its charm! (?)

Bessa cameras went for cheap couple of years ago but are now harder to find and prices went up significantly. Since Leica M film camera prices went through the roof, the Bessa ones came behind and experience the same trend now. IMO the Bessa R4M model with the 21 mm frame lines is probably the best addition to a Leica.
Ya I know right? tbh I could probably resell this camera for more than what I bought it for. That's why I knew it was a safe-ish buy. Besides me actually liking the camera and wanting to use it regardless.
@@AlexOnStreets I loved that camera. I had it with me on interrail all acros Europe, and fed it a steady diet of Tri-X 400. Had two Voigtländer lenses. A Nokton 1.5, and an Ultron 1.7. Ah, the memories. It was hard selling it, but I'm all digital now and I'm done with film :)
Aperture priority alone makes the Bessa R2A/R3A/R3A far more agile and versatile than any Leica M film camera (apart from the M7). Just set your aperture, zone focus and use it like a point-and-shoot.
@@waveril5167 You can use your existing M-mount lenses. The Bessa R2A, R3A and R4A have a TTL meter and can automatically set the shutter speed based on the meter reading.
Just bought the r4A. I really enjoy aperture priority mode n the wide angle frameline. And the other advantage I get from the camera is that the frameline is about .5 magnification which I can use without issue with my glasses on
4:55 uncle walking down the alley just checking back (twice!) in hopes that you'd perhaps take a street shot of him and feature him on a magazine or something. lmao
I got a Bessa R2M a few years ago and have since added the winder bottom to it which is pretty cool. Bessas are now worth 3X what I paid (not that I would sell)
Yea internet fads killing deals. I want another FM3A but because there are youtube videos claiming it's the best slr... I paid $800 new inbox in 2018. They are now around $1500 near mint. I wish people figured out photo quality depends on the lens and film stock but often they are spec sheet nerds buying these late model cameras.
That has to be the sexiest thumbnail on RUclips. Nice pick up Alex but Leica has the greatest rangefinder of all time lol jk. Just shows you don’t need to spend thousands to enjoy photography.
Prices on these Cosina made cameras have shot up in recent years. People call it a a Leica alternative and they're correct. Leica is overpriced and the lenses are just ok. The Voigtlander prices are too high for a Cosina camera but I'd use the Voigtlander over a Leica.
Leica ist gut aber Voigtländer ist Bessa!😆 Everyone who had a Bessa on youtube sold it and then bought a Leica anyway. Maybe Alex will do a review about it. 😀
Damn you're right. Sold my Bessa already. Picked up a mint M7. Strap lugs really make or break the camera. Anyways.. back to putting more gel in my hair.
@@AlexOnStreets I bet you he's never even handled one! I got to try one once and it was very nice. They've really gone up in price compared to what they used to be. Voigtlander should make more of them.

That Bessa R2a is super nice!

Whats the camera strap he’s using on the bessa?
What's that tiny lens he swaps at 5:25 ??? 🥺

Always appreciate that :)
could i shoot with a 21mm on this camera? how would i use the frameline settings with it?
Where's my voigtlander sponsor

Most of people paid Leica for the Brand which is freaking Pricey. I personnally Don't care about it, I care about the Functionality.
It’s “Leica” CLE 1:32

the good thing about my r2 is i dont fear breaking it (rip my rf35)

Yes they do
