I loved how he approached Carl. This wasn’t like those interviews to get the drama, but a good conversation about redemption. I loved how he tapped in mostly on his restoration rather than his sin! We love Bryce !

The fact that your 21! Our worship leader at my church is 21 and her voice and posture on the Lord is so encouraging to see. She is finishing up her program at a great university in music and soon leaving our church for a music program in another state soon. All this to say; something about the young generation with strong wisdom and maturity in the Lord is so beautiful. I’m so excited for the young generation and as I raise my young kids, I’m just strongly encouraged to teach them early on Gods word and encouragement to them with prayer to our Heavenly Father. God bless you Bryce!! My testimony was similar to yours about 15 years ago. Truly you are one that needs to be reminded how the Lord is going to continue to sanctify you and use you, you are a gem because of your genuine love for the lost. I understand about how challenging it can be with family, the Lord will help you with that; it’s all very relatable what you said . Anyways I’ve been praying for you because your faith is so strong and bold when teaching the lost may you be encouraged and be an encourager. The Lord will always sustain you with his never ending love❤

I’ve been learning so much that God wants to use me relying on Him in my habitual sins and weakness to encourage other Christian’s. And I pray God will do that incredible work in your life too Bryce. I’m also 21 and saved in the same year as you. Thank you for using your hardships to encourage me as I’m going through the same thing. God is with us.

This is beautiful, it’s so incouranging to hear the story of someone who cheated and then got right. Unfortunately my mom gave my dad the opportunity to come clean when he was going through the deep and he chose to hide which created a lot of pain in my family. I’m so grateful hear a story from someone who did choose to come clean and heal. I have so much fear that I’ll end up like my dad. So I’m so grateful to hear a story of someone who chose differently and god chose to forgive!

I'm glad you had Carl on Bryce. I think the problem here is not that people are just upset with his sin and not seeing him as a brother. Sure there are those folks and their opinion isn't godly nor loving because we should always want to see restoration of those that have been inflicted by their sin but are repentant. However, this issue is different in that he was a pastor, a shepherd, held under far stricter judgment. I think the word "was" there is really key. Sure, he's still a pastor to his wife and children, but what happened most definitely should biblically exclude him from pastoral ministry for life. Obviously all Christians make disciples, but from the actual office of elder.
And when a pastor commits sexual sin it's more severe. It completely eliminates him from being a pastor in the church again. It doesn't mean God isn't using it, I think He is and to the restoration of Carl, to the encouragement of sinful men battling lust and temptation and trying to follow Christ, etc. But people have a right to be upset and hurt in a different sense than this just being a brother in the congregation. There were warning signs. Biblical Christians were calling and have called out Hillsong on unbiblical eldership and practices of concern. They just ignored it and chalked it all out to theologically correct. In many ways, it's his own elder that should be disqualified as well for not biblical eldership of Carl's soul and in the numbers and mass, his ability to operate without safeguarding his soul is a constant risk it's amazing he made it as far as he did. Praise God His family is stronger than before. And I pray that for his marriage too, wonderful that his wife stayed and that he's working through healing. And I do think people project what they are going through, but also, they aren't necessarily pastors. Laypeople aren't held to the requirements or stricter judgment of Timothy and Titus, and the impact of their sinfulness is greater, deeper, and broader.
I'm glad that Carl was hurt by where he was, because it revealed he wasn't in a biblical place in the first place to be honest... I think he's lacking in biblical knowledge and theological deep truth, because of what Hillsong is like, I hope he ends up Reformed, lol. Seriously though, to be with people that love and are patient and loving shepherds. I bet he doesn't even know what it's like to be even truly pastored and soul cared for. Love that he is taking what he has learned to help other pastors. In many ways what he said revealed he wasn't really ready for the level of ministry that he was called into and up toward. Nor had the support for the growth for his own soul.
Though what he said is true about it's God not on the perfect pastor or preacher, Paul called for hard labor and effort to become one approved.
Honestly what it is Bryce, is Pragmatism and anti biblical intellectualism that has plagued churches like Hillsong. It becomes emotionalism and sense manipulation instead of truth which is apart of love. I really honestly feel compassion for Carl. Not because he got caught, but because he was caught up heavily in a movement that wasn't anchored in practically being doers of the Word and things that aren't shallow. I truly loved to hear how he sought another chance and sees everything. It's awesome, and his wife is giving hope to men and to wives too through this. God being glorified through it. I hope they find a healthier biblical church and I think that's the thing with those big shallow feel good ted talk like churches people float through and is more like a business trying to continually kept to run for profit and to be relevant. Love that Bryce asked that question and I think Carls response was solid.
There really isn't biblical truth in forgiving yourself or giving yourself grace. It's more so faith in that Christ has forgiven you and that His grace is sufficient. It's more a struggle between faith and doubt, and i personally think doubt is that thorn that's challenging. Even Paul stated he didn't do what he wants and does what he doesn't. This is the beauty, the fact we actually acknowledge and can see where we aren't obedient to God when we want to be is reality that we are saved, the Spirit convicting, it's our flesh that wants to turn that to shame and condemnation.
It's really the difficulty of doing the Word and submitting our emotions and many thoughts captive to it.
We think a lot when we're trying to process how we're learning while we go, it's messier and following Christ is difficult, it's no easy way. Great response from Carl.
Love the vulnerability from Bryce, I've felt that same thing regarding continual screwing up, and then you read Hebrews 12:15-17 and misinterpreted it can really dig deep holes of lacking assurance. But if you listen to John Piper's sermon on that you come to find out, God has poured all the wrath on Christ for the punishment of our sin, we're atoned. He truly does look at us as sons, but He does discipline us through trials, even our own mistakes, to make us holier and sanctify us to share in His holiness. It's for His glory and our good.
It changes the perspective on afflictions and failure and leads us to love Him and have bold faith knowing He loves us. That He spilled His blood so we could have a seat at His table. It's all His righteousness, we're just living to be more like Him now and that's no easy process. It's important to know God's purpose in it: ruclips.net/video/j1eNTjiA30s/видео.htmlsi=Bt4nyZ8cX0ZsAui1 from Piper here is super helpful, can't recommend it enough to you Bryce, brother.
Christianity is about God, it's about us in response to Him, and it's actually seeing Him for who He really is biblically that does set us correctly. So though he teaches it a little wonky, but you should feel convicted over sin and desire to repent and change. And if you have a pattern of sin, then yeah it's something to see as serious, but the fact you care and want to be more like Christ through it, God is going to get His glory through sanctification. But practical antinomianism is more of a problem the average Christian going to a non denom envangelifish church is leaning toward. It's a surrender and an attack simultaneously. The reason we need our minds washed by the Word and to hold thoughts captive, that's key. I like that he went to that Scripture. And it's constant, waging war to do the private work with Christ and to be encouraged that He enjoys to work with us compassionately and tenderly.
Love the courting advice he gave by the way, spot on as a young married guy who got married at 20 to my 19 year old wife, been married 13 years and have 3 kids. And it's something you constantly have to revisit. But the commitment in marriage is a covenant. We dealt with tons of financial difficulties, I thought I was over porn and then first year of marriage realized it was just dormit for Christ but actual sex with my wife brought back challenging urges physically. We went through so much, I failed a lot, so did she, but we had Christ so in common that He worked and has worked to mature us and she said last night before this new year that I'm more of a man to her than ever before. It'swho are you going to convenant with that you are committed to it all with. That's what matters. They may be funny or fit in the start, that may change. You may have moments of insecurity and annoyance with one another... when real problems come you may want to handle them differently. It's the commitment to Christ that holds the commitment to one another, through hell.

Enjoyed the podcast ,I just felt God tell me to tell your not alone in feeling condemned for not being a good enough Christian. I have been known to be a passionate Christian in the eyes of people that know me but at home it tends to be hard to stay quiet around your family when they distort your character .In moments like that I find comfort in my personal relationship with God because at the end of the day he knows the intentions of my heart .With the added bonus of also seeing us under the lenses of what Jesus has done .Also I’m thankful that you shared that as well because I supposed I was going through that on my own .

Awesome amazing chat 💖 you both had such great information and encouraging messages. Bryce just a couple things I would add when You are around or visiting people that “push the buttons” take a few minutes to be alone with the Holy Spirit and ask him to fill you will his peace. Also put on the Full Armor of God every morning.
I was having such whispering thoughts of condemnation after speaking to people about the LORD and or giving my testimony of how Jesus saved me from fear, anxiety and depression. I have made it a point to put on the amazing gift of Gods Armor every morning. And these thoughts and feels had to leave me. We are the righteousness of Christ and children of God. The devil has NO authority. You are a young 21 year old man but you are amazing. Remember how young David was when God chose him 🥰 Jesus love you ❤ you are awesome Brother ((hug)).

Bryce thank you for your honesty about families. This is how me and my husband were with each other. But by God's grace we now accept each other with where we are and not by what we say. I mean we know we love each other and the enemy wants division so he puts these schisms to take us of track any time he gets us of balance hes glad. But with the knowledge of Jesus grace we still love and accept our differences as we are all in the body of Christ. I then prayer and ask Jesus to show me how he loves my husband when we have our differences and then the hurt and disappointment goes and peace and love come in and with this Jesus brings peace to me and my husband so we are both able to listen in peace and accept our own behaviour and not blame each other. We then have reconciliation and love its amazing but Jesus knows us and our thoughts to bring us peace. Bruce and team you are doing amazing God bless you and your family 🙏🏽❤🙏🏽

Oh, Bryce. This journey with your family is something God is refining in you and this experience will bless others in the future, I have no doubt. Little by little you will get better at talking to your family. Be patient honey, you have many years ahead of you and maybe he is using this frustration you feel for your family for your toughest mission outside of your family. He’s got this. He’s got you. You are not a fraud because you’re gifted at reaching the most lonely and yet can’t extend that kindness to your family. So many people struggle with that. Pray for them, but most of all pray that your heart softens and forgives every time before you go home. Before every conversation with your family, pray for your heart. It will come. I love you and am praying for you. I know this journey isn’t easy. Never stop enduring though. He’s got you and loves you.

Remember brother, Romans 8:8 - There is therefore now NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

[31] but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Wow I’m so guilty of thinking badly of people. I can not say that a was holding a grudge against Lars But when it came to this I can be honest and say I was harsh against a brother in Christ who sinned very much like I do everyday and have done all my life. And I am so sorry. This man is a great guy and all love to him. He Said very good things that I really needed to think about. I need to remember to put the sin in the light and I’ve itts Christ and tell maybe a pastor so I don’t feel alone.

I love the content Bryce, I think if you say the word like a lot less in situations that your forming your sentence on the spot would help a lot and would make your words stronger and sound more articulate.
