It's Dan Castelanetta doing an impression of Michael Caine. They wanted to get Caine for the episode Homer and Apu in S5, where he'd take a job at the Quickie Mart because Michael Caine takes any fucking job, but ironically he turned it down so they gave it to James Woods instead. But they loved Michael Caine so much they put him in this S5 episode and had Dan voice him.
@@billmcdonnell79He should really mind his P's and Q's. His career since the 90s has consisted of hits like On Deadly Ground and Austin Powers in Goldmember.
@@Gitarookefka Nah that's not it, at any point Bart could've inquired about his family, so these actors are working round the clock with their performances, hence the very large script.
That's the problem, "Homer loves his family" is a hardwired part of his character, of course the actor can't do him right when he's trying to act out a character contrary to that character's nature.
great point! I love your analysis. I think that's why the bad episodes are bad because they are trying to do the same thing lol ie. making characters act contrary to their nature
I dont think she is asian. In the Simpsons show, asians tend or at least used to have in these older episodes white skin, as well as more exagerated long eyes
Is this supposed to be a praise for Michael Caine's acting skills or a jab at his willingsness to take any role if the price is good? Or a little bit of both?
Indeed; realistic rubber masks used to only mostly exist in cartoons and comics. Then such latex masks began appearing in live-action media, and soon the CIA and Hollywood production teams were using them, though I know the earliest silicone masks were used by movie stunt actors in either the late 80s or early 90s. But still, this episode was from before they became more widely-known.
"I've never seen it, by all accounts it was terrible but I have seen the house that it built and it is terrific" That's pretty much sums up Caine with Jaws IV or as Mark Kermode likes to say he saw the opening to the script saying "Opening, the bahamas" and that was the only motivation he needed.
Michael Caine in another Brilliant Performance.....

Possible that Michael Caine really hates The Simpsons and never wanted guest starred in any Simpsons episode?
@@billmcdonnell79wild theory.. got any facts to back it up? 😅

Love how he's wearing glasses under the mask
That's an awful lot of script pages for what's supposed to be a short scene.
Burns is probably blind as a bat so he needs big letters
Boy, i really hope somebody got fired for that blunder

It's the same guy that played the Krusty Burglar and Milhouse's stuntman!

I love how Burns has to flip through the script to find the right line.

So he knows his name now?
How much of the script Burns had to flip through to find an instance of Homer saying "D'oh"
The last page probablyb😂
Mr. Burns who hardly remembers Homer Simpson that knows Homer doesn't says "b'oh", he says "d'oh".
haven't seen this episode in about 5 years and laughed the hardest when the fake family showed up
Still love the fact he had to look it up.
Are you sure he doesn't say "da oh"?
My favorite instance of the "age-old mask device" being used in the Simpsons! I also like how "Marge" is really a beautiful Asian woman.

He's hilarious.
Yeah, what is he doin’ there
Is this meant to be Michael Caine?
Yes.
I actually always thought they used the likeness of the voice actors and that Dan decided to do an Aussie voice
D'oh
Roger B I kinda thought that though Lisa had some smoker doing the voice in this gag
Literally.
0:01 Monty Burns: People, that was all wrong! Homer Simpson doesn't say, "B'oh!," he says... (Looking for Homer's catchphrase in the script) "D'oh!"!
Cichael Maine.
Some British/English people played Marge and Homer in some show that is probably The Simpsons.
hey you know we're getting into golden time
He seems like he has no problem around the end there.
Truly only Gary Oldman can pull Homer off...🤣
Fantastic Career Michael Cain. Happy Retirement

Yup, it is!
Not really him. He turned down the simpsons.
Right, but it is supposed to be Michael Caine, even though that's Dan Castellaneta doing the voice (I could tell it was him.)
Crazy. He turned down the Simpsons but gave the ok to Jaws: The Revenge. luls
