Crispy Thattai is a popular South Indian snack that is typically made during festive occasions and is also enjoyed as a tea-time snack. This crispy and crunchy snack is made with a combination of rice flour, urad dal flour, and a few other flavorful ingredients.
Here is a recipe for Crispy Thattai with detailed instructions and ingredient list:
    Ingredients:
    2 cups of rice flour
1/2 cup of urad dal flour
    1 tablespoon of sesame seeds
1 tablespoon of red chili powder
    1/2 teaspoon of asafoetida
    Salt to taste
2 tablespoons of melted butter or ghee
    Water as required
    Oil for deep frying
    Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the rice flour, urad dal flour, sesame seeds, red chili powder, asafoetida, and salt to taste.
Add the melted butter or ghee to the mixture and mix well.
Gradually add water as required and knead the dough into a smooth and soft consistency.
Divide the dough into small balls.
Place a ball of dough on a flat surface and flatten it using your palms or a rolling pin to form a thin circular disc.
Prick the disc with a fork or toothpick to prevent it from puffing up while frying.
Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
Once the oil is hot, gently slide in the flattened discs and deep fry until they turn golden brown and crispy.
Remove the fried Thattai from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
Store the Crispy Thattai in an airtight container once they cool down to room temperature.
Enjoy this delicious and crispy snack with a cup of hot tea or coffee!
