That is the standard play in that situation. It was probably the fact that she wasn't fully invested mentally with hitting her opponent that she put the ball in the net. Shame to see such a match end on a ball put into the net.
There are 3 levels of women's tennis tours. The Top-level WTA Tour. The WTA Challenger Tour and finally at the bottom the ITF World Tour. Wang the winner today played over 90% of her matches on the bottom level ITF World tour last year.
That’s because she had to. She was a previous top50 player and hadn’t played for about a year so gotta earn points to get back to the top100 by playing a lot of itf events
'3 hour marathon?'. You telling me a so called professional athlete can't be on court for under 3 hours and it's an issue? Yet they harp on about equal pay to the men. No wonder the world has gone down the pan.
Apart from it being a great match. That match point. Emma could have done anything with that ball. She chose to try and hit the opponent with court at her mercy. Wrong shot choice bad execution and bad manners.
@@jgunner94 I agree. I would suggest it is the standard "safe" play in a professional setting. It happens fairly often in doubles and is seen as part of the game.
Another gutsy match from Emma and the next step in the right direction for her. She was clearly not 100% and we all learn from losses as well as wins. Well done to both players.
Emma, sorry for the brutal truth, but as usual ,,ITF level'', but it doesn't matter FUNBOYS are still crowing with delight. The most random Grand Slam winner and I ,,FEEL SORRY'' for her ,,BIG'' sponsors 😥
I wonder how many of those people complaining about Raducanu claiming injury have ever played a single match at any kind of serious competitve level let alone on a stage like the Australian Open. Being relatively young and also coming back from a whole string of injury issues is hardly likely to be an easy thing. Yes, she may have appeared to be just a little short on the gas in the third set but it could also be down to a build up of stress, both mentally and in the muscles. Either way, although I didn't see most of the match, it did seem as though Raducanu is striking the ball well and with more confidence than last year. Just look at top players like Andy Murray and Dominic Thiem to see just how hard it can be to recover a previously held ranking after significant injury setbacks. You are looking at players at the elite level where small issues can put you in trouble. I hope to see all three of the players currently trying to regain form do in fact manage to break through in 2024. If only to shut some of the haters up!!
Every time she loses they say she's sick. The better player won give Wang the credit she deserves
I mean they call for a trainer way before the end of the match so
That’s what she deserves for that disrespectful last strike where she tried to hit her opponent

ITF is obviously Raducanu's level. 😆
@@jeffbrunswick5511Intresting, cannot believe she's a grand slam champion but you're right.

This
They also get to sit down quite a lot during that 3 hours. I play amateur tennis for 3 hours sometimes and there is no sitting at all.
The Women’s side is played in 12 days usually and there’s no 2 day break for the semi final to be fair.
@@jeffbrunswick5511are comparing club tennis to professional? 🤣.
@@jeffbrunswick5511wow, you're a hero
Whenever she loses, there's always some sickness or injury...
Raducanu is truly back!! Fake illness breaks and gamesmanship and always an excuse for losing.
lol. Can't believe Raducanu went straight at her in that last shot. There was plenty of space crosscourt. She was struggling though, so fair enough.
She's like a spoiled kid who needs to grow up.

How was that the wrong shot? She was close so hitting towards her looked the best move.
I don't think it was intentional - she was exhausted and unwell.

Delighted for Wang.
Ofc she feels sick. She’s just like that one little spoilt kid always crying when losing. Just accept ur not gd enough for the opponent 💀
One Hit wounder
Not at all surprised, on hit wonder.
Wonder how all the sponsors will react.
For some reason, excuses are made every time she loses. Perhaps she's not that good...just fluked the U.S. open?
Im bored of her saying she is sick in every single game she is losing. Its repeatable years now.
I don't see her being sick!

She's done an awful lot of 'learning' since her US win...
I wonder when we'll actually see the results of what she's learnt.
a true fanboy response

she's a one hit wonder
A one fluke wonder.
Don't be ridiculous
The commentator's reaction to Raducanu's loss is sooo biased :D they sounded as if the 3rd world war started.
2:57 Thats how karma works 😛
Agreed, she intended to hit her forehand straight at Wang. Nasty. 😮
Easy lob 🙄
*pretends to be shocked*
She didnt even deserve automatic entry to this GS. Absolute BS and disgusting. Ranked miles down the list, yeah right

last strike, the punishment, because she tried to shot the body of the oppenent. Nogo. Give it up, glamour girly.
Raducanu should retire doin another job
Any excuse let's face it she's not very good her big win was a fluke
Let's face it you don't know what fluke means
