Updating an Akai MPC 1000. Link to install video from MpcStuff: / watch Link to screen: www.mpcstuff.c... Support by playing my games: www.ppicapps.com
I've been through almost every model of MPC, from the 60 to the 2500. I'm on the MPC One now to compose, but kept a 1000 for live use. Perfect balance between size and possibilities (I miss the slider on the MPC One)
My mpc one broke after 2 years I opened it up and it’s just junk ... I then bought a used 1000 for 280 that looks like it was thrown down some stairs .. after 15 years it works fine
Most of yall dont know how shit originally was. The og os, we had no wave form chopping, no auto chop, no none of that we just had to high light and extract piece by piece.
Thanks Bro! The 1000 was my first. I currently use the MPC 3000(You have to be in the mood) and the MPC Live 2 as my go tos. I have the ONE but I barely use it.
For me the mpc 1000 is the worst mpc, even with the JJOSXL. The workflow is cool but the sound is weak. This is an mpc to break the habit. Comparing the lame crutch with the mpc one is a joke. The Mpc one iz a Beast
@@hiphopchannel6257 I was able to get a MPC 1000 for 300 and I also got the akai s3000 XL to balance out the sound haha.. but I'm an audio engineer so I can create the grit myself in the mix .. 🤔🎹🎹
I think the big screen looks hideous. I would never buy that for my mpc 1000. It makes it look out of place. I wish they could make a flip screen mod for the original small screen and it would be dope.
I got one few years ago and little by little over the years I replaced the Pads,New Skin plate, Installed new Black screen, new internal SD drive, new Right side PCB Board and Most importantly JJOS XL,to me totally worth!
Thanks for the "Real". Just picked up an MPC 500 (so low I couldn't resist) and I actually wanted the 1000 but it is out of my current price range and plus I'm just on the "Nostalgic" thing because I'm just fine with the Other MPC controllers using the MPC Software BUT...... If I can get my Paws on the 1000 or better, best believe I'm gonna grab it. Just something about clickin' buttons and spinning the jog wheel. LOL
Thanks for the video, can’t believe you said you have tinnitus!!! Me too bro, I feel ya on the whole sound thing! I have a 1000, may fix it up for fun. The big screen is dope.
can you explain screen installation.... I need a screen for my 4000, was wondering where you got yours from? does that fit the 4000 ? thanks Bro...and keep rocking
I bought the screen from mpcstuff.com. I think it fits both but don't quote me on that. Here is the link to the installation video: ruclips.net/video/8txCzGafSN8/видео.html&ab_channel=mpcstuff and here the link to purchase the screen: www.mpcstuff.com/mpc-1000-xlcd-large-lcd-screen-kit-for-akai-mpc1000/
u could sell the cf reader from this model, if i remember right the blue mpc1000 had a cf reader which is compatible with the roland sp 808, which came with a zip drive :-) . when i still had a sp808 the compatible cf readers sold for around 250.
It has the headphone and swift jack attached to the board. I don't think I would sell it and lose the headphone functionality. And, I just fixed the CF card reader.
I'm trying to figure out why he's talking about menu diving...I have a 1000 and 2500 with jjos os3 and it's nothing compared to my 5000 and mv8000 in regards to menu diving
I ordered a 1gb Transcend card, it should be here this week. Transcend seems to work best the 2000xl and 3000. Fingers crossed. The card reader worked once with a card I ordered off of eBay that doesn't even have a name, but I can't get it to work anymore.
Hey, The MPC 1000 is great. I would start with one of the newer ones first. MPC One or live. I'm going to keep for now, I've been getting good use of this boy lately. Thanks for asking though.
@Paris Pinkney stumbled upon this video again and just wanted to update you on my progress. So I had a black model, it was missing the sides, scratched up, broken buttons and dead pads. I put in the V2 pad sensor, cleaned the buttons but had to replace 4 of then. I put a white skin, with the glow in the dark green fat pads. I ended up with the bright pink sides so it's got raver vibes for sure with the glow in the dark/pink. Finally just got jjos on it and an internal hard drive. I'm considering the mega screen upgrade also but I'm currently rebuilding a 2000 OG I pulled from the trash first. The 2000 sensors don't work one bit, floppy drive took me a while to get working but once I got the OS to load and made sure stuff worked I decided it's time to repair!
@@mastaboog749 Thanks for the updates. I love origin stories, and stories about fixing broken, discarded items. I would love to see some pics of the neon 1000. Keep me posted on the 2000. That is the only old school MPC I've never touched at all.
It was. I had to have one my kids look in there. My eyes couldn't focus even with my glasses on. I got a precision screw drive and bent the very first pin back and now it works great.

It was very portable before the big screen. Now, not much so.
My mpc one broke after 2 years I opened it up and it’s just junk ... I then bought a used 1000 for 280 that looks like it was thrown down some stairs .. after 15 years it works fine
Crazy this machine is still my go to after all these years. I can make beats with my eyes closed with the 2500 and 1000. JJOS is a must
Damn I ain’t know the 1000 was $1499 back in 05. Akai been taxing for decades 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, and they are still taxing. At least the old machines lasted forever. I have a broken MPC Live 2 and a broken MPC One.
They weren’t taxing. It cost $1499 because it’s pure quality. It’s not those cheap shitty MPC’s that Numark puts out today.
I did the upgrade already, fat pads, hard drive and xl LCD and all. So worth it! I love jjos as well.
Most of yall dont know how shit originally was. The og os, we had no wave form chopping, no auto chop, no none of that we just had to high light and extract piece by piece.
😮 Shit mane
With JJOSXL is Dat thing a Beast
I started on the 2000xl. Then the 1000 and now the One. The 1000 is by far my favorite of the 3. Great video, subbed!
I pretty much did the same except I used rack units instead of the 2000xl currently using the 1000 can’t use the one anymore
Thanks Bro! The 1000 was my first. I currently use the MPC 3000(You have to be in the mood) and the MPC Live 2 as my go tos. I have the ONE but I barely use it.
do u think the 1000 has a good sound

Awesome vid very well done. I just have a live and for some reason Ive always wanted to get a 1000.
Big screen mod is tempting but imo it kills the form factor of the 1000 so I cant bring myself to do it

I agree! It was totally worth it. To think, I was just going to sell this 3 months ago. I'm so glad I kept it.
That’s dope. I didn’t know they made a big LCD screen for the 1000. The big screen gives it a modern look.
I know right! It makes using it easier. If only it had touch screen functionality. It would be more perfect.
Then it would be an mpc one

I’ve bought the MPC 1000 (twice) and it was a headache. Got the Live 2 now and it’s night and day.
I bought my 1000 from Best Buy of all places. This was in 2012. It was a little under $1000 by that point.
Thanks for the video, can’t believe you said you have tinnitus!!! Me too bro, I feel ya on the whole sound thing!
I have a 1000, may fix it up for fun. The big screen is dope.
Thanks for your input on the sound I need some feet haha, the beats in the background have a good mix to them
literally had this same setup upgrades but with black pads.....Made some crazy beats with that thing...might go back to it.

Idk 🤷🏾♂️ but I’m still loving the live and I have the MPC x se

Not this 1000 man, the mcd came from 2kxl blue version
I like that screen

was it easy to install screen? how much does it cost?
i got 1000 and live 2 but i always dreamed of 2500
Spent a few years running a 1000 sequencing synths and a 2500 running samples and drum machines. Was a great workflow for arranging on the fly
They were $1000. Curious about JJ OS upgrade I have the JJ OS 3.15 as well
Do you still have the 1000 bro ? 😮
Would you recommend this over the MPC One? I have a One already and would prefer something portable.
NO! Definitely get the One or One+. I think it might be the best out of the modern MPCs.
@@ppic7162 Thanks, the nostalgia is real sometimes 😀
Fuck yes!
Certain brand cf cards don’t work took me 3 to find one that did

There was bent pin in the CF card reader. I straightened it out with a precision screw driver. It works perfect now.

what do u actually have to work on lol? pads are upgraded, RAM is maxed out...the rest doesn't matter
Im on this journey now, thanks for sharing!
Enjoy! The journey is better than the end result.

Sounds like you have a broken or bent pin in your card reader...

Does your MPC 1000 have JJOSXL?
No, I have JJOS128 which is free and supports the large screen.
Drinking water. Is it worth it?

Get a Gotek usb reader
Can you put a Gotek in the 1000? I don't think it has the space.
1000 is not worth it
