    Good to see recognition that predation is a natural part of the cycle rather than the automatic assumption in some bird management circles that predators are to be eliminated, though with populations in decline, like curlew, any losses must be hard to witness.

      Pretty hypocritical when you think about it. Some people believe that the best way to help bird populations is to just seriously reduce and in severe cases completely wipe out native predators in the name of a single species. Predators in most cases aren’t even what causes bird declines in the first place. Pesticides, habitat destruction/degradation, bird diseases and climate change are far far worse and killing of much more birds than predators ever could
