Good to see Simon happy!!!! Earlier years he seemed mad or grumpy all the time.
I think his personality has definitely improved over the decade or so. Back in early BGT and X Factor days he would be straight up rude to the contestants, rolled eyes at Susan Boyle etc. But now he when he wishes acts good luck etc he seems pretty genuine and nice

Just watch how the audience is elated. That’s “what exactly does this guy do”. He gives them a good time. It’s thoroughly entertaining and thus a good fit for an entertainment show. Not easy to entertain a whole crowd like that. He’s a great natural performer and people have fun watching him
