That was a minimal amount of filings that the magnet attracted from the dispensed oil. The oil filter may have some as well but then that is what is there for. I usually pour a little fresh oil into an engine when the drain plug is open to flush out a little more of the contaminants. Great point to torque up bolts, service the filter etc. while doing the 50 hour oil change.

That’s a great idea poring a little in to flush the pan out. I should have cut the filter open.
