Bringing Ralf Rangnick as an interim manager was the best decision we’ve made since Fergie left….it meant we were FINALLY taking the time in employing a new manager, now we’ve got Ten Hag. I get the impression that Rangnick was brought in precisely because the management board knew it would weed out all the deadwood. They knew that uncommitted players wouldn't play for an interim manager, so it was a great appointment having Rangnick in - now we know who the deadwood is.

Ralf has done an incredible job imo.
He came in to a club in disarray, with a squad full of complete bluffers, half of whom were just counting down the days until their contracts expired. He identified players and staff who needed to be shown the door and shone a light on the nonsense going on in the squad that other managers have tried to protect.
I think finally, for the first time since Fergie left, we're in a position to properly rebuild. All we've done is paper over cracks since then. Now we can finally clear out all the bluffers and build a proper squad around a manager with a plan.
Mourinho could have done it but he was hamstrung by the board and given players he didn't want and refused players he actually needed. In hindsight he actually did a great job.
Finally now we can look to the future instead of buying short term fixers like Zlatan, Ronaldo and Cavani. Don't get me wrong, i love Ronaldo, but it doesnt scream long term planning for success.
Poisonous players like Pogba and Martial will be shown the door, all be it 4 years too late. Clapped out old timers filling up their pension funds will be gone.
      No more garbage like AWB.
Can only hope that somehow Maguire goes away with them.

Also, if you compare United to Tottenham who were also challenging for top 4 under a new manager, Conte got backed with Kulusevski and Bentancur whereas United didn't even want to spend 5mil on Zakaria. And lastly, right before the transfer deadline after loaning out Martial and Diallo, he lost a key player in Greenwood. @Off The Rails before the Athletico match, united under Ralf had most points per game bar Liverpool. United during Crystal palace game broke the record for most kilometres ran and most pressing stats post Fergie. At the beginning we were playing well. Even in games we drew, we completely dominated. Like the game against Watford we have 22 shots, 65% possession but game ended 0-0. Every team Ralf has gone to has played high pressing attacking football except Manchester United. So either all those other 6/7 teams he coached were simply flukes, or there's something wrong at Manchester United. When you combine that with fact that previous united coaches have also complained about stiff backroom and lack of work ethic among players, it's not hard to see who or where the problem lies. If we're still playing the blame the manager game then there's nothing to be done. Just keep changing managers until we get relegated I guess

Ralf Ragnick wanted the players (professional footballers mind you) to run more and they just said nope. I agree with the sentiment that it's the manager's job to sort out the dressing room and ship out players that are toxic. However, I do believe that it's been this club's policy for many years now that the manager doesn't make those decisions - those decisions are being made at board level.
It's so clear that the board have been signing and firing players (or letting contracts run down, rather than firing) instead of the manager. Mourinho had a right go at Pogba and Martial in the press. He wanted rid of them but the board overruled him so the only thing he could do was go public with it.

The people who point out that Ralf is the problem are out of context here. These players were starting to control the dressing room even before Ole became a manager. He is the one who pampered them to be these arrogant players they are now.
Ralf is an interim manager who wasn't given enough power to control the dressing room by the board by the looks of things. He clearly pointed out the problems at United with great honesty. Even Mourinho did mention some of the things about the players and the board before he left. Back then everyone called him mad. Now it has come true.
So please don't blame everything on Ralf. In my opinion, he is the one who kickstarted this rebuild and I'll always be grateful for his honesty and directness towards the issues at united.

Ralf Rangnick’s work speaks for itself in Germany. I have a feeling he thought Manchester would be cake for him given his status and respect that people have for him outside of England. He’s exceptional at what he does there’s no doubt about it. When it comes down to it is the players, will the players buy into the systems and tactics of the gaffer. In this instance they didn’t. I’m a Tottenham fan and same thing happened with Nuno, the players failed to accept his tactics and because of that we played poorly and Nuno was replaced with Conte. I do believe that these Manchester players have just flat out stopped trying. Ten Hag is an amazing coach but he really needs pulling power in order for it to workout. Ajax is a guaranteed success, English PL is a whole different beast. I hope it works out for ManUtd. I loved watching them under Ferguson.

What they dont seem to understand is that Ter Hag is not just a manager that buys some world class players here and there. The players have to fit in their way of playing. Defenders must be able to attack and put in the crosses, so that’s already a big difference there. The players he will get are likely not to be in anyone’s top 3. It’s a much more dynamic system than what United is used to playing. To get this right will take time. They won’t immediately be at the same level as city or liverpool, that’s just unrealistic.

I wasn't surprised they let him go, I was beginning to think they should weeks ago. If he's struggling to assert himself with the players, what chance would he have with the Glazers and this board. I wouldn't be surprised to find out later that he was talking tough in the media (which the fans loved him for) but in front of the players and board he was a shadow of that. Also, being honest is one thing, but even I'd recognize that if you walk into that hornet's nest you have to operate with a bit of diplomacy until you're actually IN the job you came for. My guess: the board lost patience with being embarrassed every week, Ten felt starting on a good foot with the existing squad required bonding over a common enemy, and what better way to ingratiate the players with their new manager than to let go of the one person they couldn't stand? Then when you still face resistance, you know who to not even waste time on and he will sell them without even flinching.

Rangnick wanted to get a midfielder in January and was denied the opportunity so what chance would he have to tell the likes of some of these players “see ya later” and move them on. He was brought in to look into the squad and look at what is needed from top to bottom and he’s exposed the club for what is truly is. It’s crazy how the players get so little blame as if they’re giving it there all. Rangnick clearly doesn’t want to play the way we did but with the players he had, what more could he have done. I’m also tired of hearing the rhetoric that Rangnick makes Ole look good. Ole needed to be sacked so move on. We have a new manager and Rangnick who’s known for rebuilding clubs which is exactly what we need rn

Ten Haag should improve the side's display in turnovers, and hope to finish in one of the playoff positions, so that the club has something to play in the post season. Anything other than that would be a failure. Besides, the board should be able to secure some good trades in the off season in order to bolster the roster.
