Nice looking layout. I am looking forward to see it all in its progress. The signals i owuold have used Viessmann the are in my opinion much prettier to look at :) Keep us posted. Thx for sharing.
Hi Thias, yes Viessmann signals are really nice but they are old technology. Believe it or not the new digital Marklin signals are simply incredible because they are Multiplex. Multiplex signals have hardly no wires. If a Marklin signal has 7 LEDs well they can power them with only two wires, its incredible because you see no wires in the mast. With Viessmann and other brands you would see all the wires. Also Marklin signals you no loner have to wire them, you simply pop them into the C-Track and they get powered and can receive their digital signal, this is great because you reduce 95% of the wiring.
A fantastic project. One question: has the customer considered a "clean room" environment to keep the room free of dust? I live in Florida, 2 miles from the Gulf and one would think that with all the rain and generally high humidity it wouldn't be dusty. But after 2 years I need to "undust" the entire layout. It's a pain!
Really interesting to see you build a german layout in far away USA :) I am living 20 miles from Göppingen, Germany - that is where Märklin is located. Following you!
@@ReynauldsEuroImports thanks for the reply , good to get some input I have been looking at Rocrail , I-Train and TC , it seems a lot of people use TC Gold.
Amazing...is this is at your Elburn store (never mind...you said it was)? I grew up with Family that lived in Elburn. I spent many a weekend there. I hope to come visit your store next time I am back in illinois.
Hello, I'm really enjoying these episodes. What type of gray underlayment did you use between the plywood and track? Are you using any type of sound deadening?
Dear Georg the gray is just a nice thick pain so when you ballast you won't see any of the plywood color pop through. The key to sound deadening is not so much what you use under the track it is the type of glue that you use. Most modeler's spend a lot of extra time and money installing cork or foam to make their trains run quieter but then they make a big mistake. They ballast using a white glue mix and that glue causes a sound bridge so the trains are no longer quite. Our builder actually invented a special ballast glue that never fully hardens, he also imports real stone ballast from Germany. All the ballast on the market currently is terrible, his ballast is simply incredible because it is real stone ballast. Real stone looks amazing and it is heavy so it weights down the track nicely. Yes the layout will be in a regulated temperature and dust free environment.

Hi Kersten, yes we have been selling Marklin for 33 years, we have been to Göppingen many times, we love Germany. My family comes from Bavaria.
Hi, what software are going to use to control the layout ?
Hello Kiwi, we play around with many different software's and the best one we tested is Friwald Train Controller Gold

Hi KYDAWG, yes our facility is in Elburn down the street from the store, we have two large units in the old School on main street.
@@ReynauldsEuroImports Ahhh yes. I thought that looked like a Chalkboard behind you in the video.
