- Ricky Skaggs is inducted into the 2018 Country Music Hall of Fame during a press conference on March 27, 2018 at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, TN.

About the CMA Awards:
The CMA Awards nominees and winners are determined by the more than 6,300 industry professional members of CMA, which when established in 1958 became the first trade organization formed to promote an individual genre of music. The first CMA Awards Banquet and Show was held in 1967. The following year, the CMA Awards was broadcast on NBC television for the first time - making it the longest running, annual music awards program on network television. The show aired on NBC through 1971 and on the CBS Television Network from 1972 through 2005 before moving in 2006 to ABC, where it is set to air through 2021.

He really loved his parents, and honored the 5th Commandment.
I know one thing, the little town of Louisa KY is sure proud of this guy. I just moved here 7 months ago and there's a boulevard down in town named after him. I got the honor to visit Ricky's second grade school teacher. She's either 93 or 94 years old and still has a good memory. I just loved those stories she told about Ricky's childhood growing up. That was truly an honor and a blessing experience for me.
How true is this speech by Ricky, the way things used to be...so sad what has happened to country music, Nashville and our country

Not in the league with Ricky. He was a good singer but a flash in the pan.
@@maryplaidy6814 I agree not in Ricky's ballpark, but it's getting time... Keith Whitley has a lot more influence in country than he's given credit.

@@maryplaidy6814 Alan Jackson is in the hall of fame, and was influenced by Keith Whitley. I think Travis Tritt should be up as well for induction

Ricky Ricky Ricky WOW! You are such a beautiful gentle soul. You deserved this induction more through and through. You inspired me since I was a small boy of 6 and if it wasn't for Sir Ricky Skaggs, I wouldn't have played the mandolin today. Congratulations and all the best from the bottom of my heart

Keith should have been before skaggs. Proud for Dottie.
Keith's peak was 3 years idiotic statement... 8 CMA's including Entertainer Of The Year, 15 Grammys 13 #1 hits and one of the key contributors of reshaping country music along with George Strait... Keith Whitley was great and Ricky would tell you that himself but he killed his own push (As they would say in wrestling) Keith didn't live long enough to have the impact on the genre as Ricky.

Another year and still no Gene Watson induction. I am very disappointed.
I agree Gene Watson deserves the honor too they should at least put 6 people in Vern Gosdin, Johnny Horton and Stonewall Jackson should all be in too.
