  • For me the 24 Hours of Le Mans is the greatest Race in Motorsport.About a year ago I've made a Video about every Winning Car of The 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was my first big Video on the Channel. After one year it is the second most watched Video on my Channel just behind the Indy 500.Now I've made a new Version with of course the 2023 Winner included. I've changed a lot of the pictures and looked ad the correct frame rates. I've also corrected the year 1979.I hope you like the new Version. If you enjoy it. Leave a like and subscribe to the Channel for future content.

I guess the fastest of all these was the Audi R15+ TDI in 2010. It covered the longest race distance of 5410.713 km (397 laps), average race speed of 225.228 km/h. The average for Kobayashi on his 2017 track record lap of 3:14.791 was 251.881 km/h (Toyota TS050). Note that the Porsche 917K also did 397 laps back in 1971, albeit without the chicanes on the straight. Still holds the lap record for the old layout.

Sounds great! Must have been a lot of work to look up all the data you got in this video already.

Thank you, that was very interesting and well done. The number of laps the cars completed varied so much. Very often the car seem to complete more laps in early years compared to some later years . The one thing that would have added greatly to the video presentation would have been the AVERAGE SPEED for each of the 24 hour race. That important statistic was missing. Thanks and best wishes

Thank you for watching the video and for your comment. The average Speed is a great point which i will look at for future Videos.

I guess track design, weather, wrecks and problems for the eventual winner had a big influence. From 1990 onwards for example two chicanes made the track longer and slower, and it shows. Would be nice to see how each track layout changed the laptimes.

@@aojracing4885 Absolutely you are correct about > Track design would have affected the Distance / Number of laps... But the average speed for a 24 hour long race, racing flat out is a statistic i consider very significant...
Just FYI --- In the 1953 24 Hours of Le Mans was the race where the 100 MPH barrier was broken for the First time (By 6 Cars in the same race!) . Best wishes
