Whoa! I can't even tell you how much I love this song. Dwight's voice totally rocks ... as do the lyrics and beat of this song. The boys in the band are pretty excellent to boot. All told ... they hit this one out of the ballpark.
April Severin--he's way higher art then Johnny Cash. Dwight a super hillbilly and he got a lot of his rockabilly from Buck Owens Cross who was ahead of his time and started a new genre of country music. Dwight as an acoustic album it's all acoustic I recommend you buy it it's called Dwight Yoakam at Acoustic. Net. and you will see and hear how he is better then the greatest of all times were talking James Taylor Carole King all the great singer songwriters Dwight is right up there with them all he's so underrated it is sickening
When Johnny Cash was interviewed by Larry King, Larry asked Mr. Cash "who is your favorite performer" and he said "that would be Dwight Yoakam" an awesome moment and well deserved accolade from one legend to another. :o)
he's got another hit here with this song!! The more I hear it, the more I love it. Luv watching someone soooo very serious about his music; makes it even better. Pure natural 💫
Thanks for well over 20 years of great, great music. As soon as I get upset over the change in bands, I fall in love with the new one. I'll leave it to you Dwight, even though I have a sweet spot for Pete Anderson and Taras Prodaniuk.
Agree. Also, a real "pro" who surrounds himself with other terrific musicians. Are the harmonies awesome or what!?. Check out his "Bakersfield Beat" station on SiriusXM -- has given me a much broader appreciation of his synthesis of rock/country-twang styles and his influences (Merle, Buck, Wanda, etc.)

Love the "Crimson & Clover" similar melody that you incorporate into this great song. This is a real gem. Just another one that's so hard to get out of your head.
I saw Dwight perform at Louisville's Forecastle event last month. Things were already going great, so much energy from the band and the crowd. Then they performed this, it was so good I almost fainted.

Loving more this song, and DY, from my heart you soothed, healed, a worn soul, my OG !! BUT - Eugene you really forced my smile out of retirement. To all musicians here, Big Tanks
dwight yaokam how cool this sounds new and realy great ! dwight can sing ,write , play any kind of style he takes his notion to ! and still he keeps that, great edge unmistakeabel tradition the country boy comes alive !! and once again when you hear hes stoped touring ! we fans can count on him . sliping back in with a album that knocks our hats off! and hepicks up his guitar . and bam! its another hit album ! that true gifted talent only comes arround once in a many moons! he continues to grace the music stages ! and thrills every ear and eye with honest dwight style!
I so want to see him in concert. Never had heard this song before and I love it! Wish he would come to NYC area. He's definitely one of my favorite country singers. Love Alan Jackson too but his are mostly heartfelt songs about life. Dwight kind of rocks the country songs. Love his twange. Such a performer and very talented (singer, songwriter, actor and producer). His version of Sloop John B (also in the Live room) is just amazing!
"Great Song" is a bit of stretch. It's the same three chords over and over and over and over and over. Yup, it's got a beat, and four "twangy" guitars... and that's about it.
@@rfelton77 I guess I really shouldn't have commented on this topic since it's one of those "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" things, but, to my ear, for a song to be labelled "great" it at least needs to be different in the creative sense - a tune that isn't 90% repetition of four bars of standard issue chords, with lyrics that tell a story worth the telling.
"Crimson and Clover, Over and Over" at the start, then Dwight grooves it his way, drawing out those syllables like he has been doing here lately. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.

My mind is such a sweet thing... sounds like a bit like he liked Tommy James, Crimson in Clover, one of my all time favs. No one knows how much I love Dwight!
Yoakam and his band (Brian Whelan on keyboards and guitar, Eugene Edwards on lead guitar, Jonathan Clark on bass, and Mitch Marine on drums) cut the basic tracks live in the studio, often on nights off between gigs as they toured the country with Eric “The Chief” Church. The hook-filled title track was road-tested

I have enjoyed Dwights music from day one and I am proud of him for not bending to no one and believing in his music
At the end of the song, he turns around and mouths 'thank you' to the band. Just love him!
Dwight Yoakam has a voice that is undeniable the BEST in the country music world and is always in my heart 💞
I love this song, especially the Tommy James Crimson & Clover bit at the end... sweet. Dwight continually amazes and impresses me...

He is such a good looking man and his voice is unbelievable . Dwight gets better with age . They don’t ever give him his props .
Sadly hes been losing his voice, it's got a lot deeper too. I noticed in one of his last performances. Still amazing to hear

I think Dwight Yoakam is a sweet thing! He is such a talented musician and entertaining performer. He ranks right up there with Johnny Cash in my mind.
April Severin Dwight was Johnny's favorite performer. That speaks volumes.

@@rae0521 you're right.... it takes a complicated chord structure to make a great song. Not everything has to e King Crimson.

"Crimson and Clover, Over and Over" at the start, then Dwight grooves it his way, drawing out those syllables like he has been doing here lately. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.

I never really believed in
Somethin' said with a word
At least I never trusted what I was told or ever heard
I never really believed in
Somethin' said with a word
At least I never trusted what I was told or ever heard
I never tried to avoid it
If it did come along
'Cause whatever happened next always proved it was wrong
But you rocked that all the way
You rocked what words can't say
You rocked it up and down the front and then back around
Every lonely place
You rocked it all away
You and me both walked alone
Down streets where nobody's home
You and me we both hung around
The kinda places that can't be found
You and me we both knew the score
but whatever it was ain't adding up anymore
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
But you rocked that all the way
You rocked what words can't say
You rocked it up and down the front and then back around
Every lonely place
You rocked it all away
I never really believed in something said with a word
At least I never trusted what I was told or ever heard
But you rocked that all the way
You rocked what words can't say
You rocked it up and down the front and then back around
Every lonely place
You rocked it all away
