There's yet another bug on RUclips's end going around. They keep turning off the comments on this video and there's no way for me to tell unless I'm constantly checking and fixing it.

As much as I like Child’s Play 1 I feel like Child’s Play 2 is the best one. Chucky really came into his own in the sequel. In the first one they still didn’t know what they had. The second one is where his personality is revealed. I also think the doll animatronics looked the best in CP2.
Ahh dude I was horribly terrified of chucky, my older brother used to torture me. Now he’s adorable and my favorite horror icon by far
Hahahaha
Same here - terrified as a kid, not so much today. I think when you get older, you just start to cheer more for the killer 🤣
Brad Douriff is indeed a legend. Exorcist 3 is one of his best performances
Absolutely.
I didn't know he was in the 3rd movie but then again, I've only watched the original. I want to watch the 3rd one now just for that
@@johnsgamingandmore1237 exorcist 3 is truly one of his best performances. Him and George c scott are both incredible in it
"After locking onto Karen's arm like Ace Steel on a September night." Nooo lmao I'm dead. 💀 Love all of your videos, this one was no different. I was never all that scared of Chucky either--and the TV show isn't helping with that, since it just makes me want to be his friend 'til the end. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Timeless horror classic
No doubt, man. No doubt.
my absolute favorite. Scream comes in a close second
I don't know why but I always laughed at the part when Maggie fell out the window 😂
Absolutely died at the Ace Steel biting joke. Hopefully more people pick up on it. Great job as always Ian!
Glad you liked that, hahahaha
There's nothing more relaxing than a good Chucky marathon with the wife sharing a couple or beers. When a was a kid, yeah, of course, that devilish toy got me as scared as it gets.
Heeeellllll yea dude.
I don’t care how ridiculous people find Chucky, he’s one of my favorite horror characters of all time and Child’s Play is in my top favorites horror movies of all time. So glad you decided to start with this classic. I was never scared of Chucky however, I made sure all my stuff animals were put away before bed 😂. Chucky in the voodoo doll segment made me cringe hearing his bones break. Andy looking back in the closing moments to me is very chilling and iconic. His life would never be the same again after that night. Excellent first episode, Ian.
Dude the sound of the bones breaking is so good. So unique.
On my birthdayyyy? Oh hell yes. I cant wait!
Happy birthday!
Dog fr!? Happy birthday 🤣
Dude YES. Been excited to see Scream Sequence, and what timing because I just watched the first three Child’s Play movies, as well as the remake. I swear I’ve seen the old trilogy over the years in pieces, but this is the first I’ve seen them in one sitting.
The one head-scratcher I’ve had while watching is, if he needs Andy to transfer his soul into, why does he keep trying to stab him? Because then his soul is gonna awaken in a kid with horrible stab wounds haha.
If they called it “Batteries Not Included,” your joke would be even more accurate haha. Had no idea about the different Chucky heads slowly turning more human, that’s awesome. Love it.
Still though, these are fun movies and Chucky pulls some of the finest moves ever committed to early 90s horror cinema. The electrocution in this movie? The hesitation in the second one where he says his canned “My name is…(eyes shift)…Tommy” haha. And replacing the paintballs with live ammo on the military base in the third movie? Such good stuff, man.
Great video, and great story about Chucky causing a fist fight in your childhood slumber party.
I love this. Dude I saw your post that you were watching them, the timing couldn't have been more perfect. The stabbing question is a really good point, lol
I must say awesome video child's play is one of my all time favorite horror characters I gotta say I'm becoming more of a fan of your content with every video keep up the good work dude
Thanks man!
@@616Entertainment I'll admit I don't feel every video you upload knocks it out of the park for me personally but like you have said many times in many videos that everyone's opinions are different but I will say the ones I have watched are all awesome videos and definitely some of the best retrospect videos I've seen and I'm sure that when you started this channel part of your mindset had to be knowing that not all of your videos will be enjoyed and possibly expecting some haters but your videos are very well put together and you definitely have a great mix of putting together true facts and your own personal opinions
As a kid I was definitely afraid of chucky. The reason being growing up one of the coolest toys was my buddy. After seeing this movie I vowed to never play with that toy again. I have even shared this on social media and heard some of the funniest stories from people around my age.
One of my favorite horror characters. Love the TV series too
The series was a lot better than I expected it to be. They did a good job.
Hope you enjoy this video!
@@JM1993951 It was rite! I thought it would b trash. But it's dope as hell
You can't spell artisan without Ian. Excellent work as always dude!
Hahahaha thanks man.
He terrified 6 year old me, nearly 30 years later, I bought a replica doll from Trick Or Treat Studios and I'm getting a huge Chucky tattoo this month. I'm a huge fan after being mortified as a child. Weird how that works.
Im so excited for this, you have no idea. I knew sooner or later we would reach the mark to unlock Scream Sequence it was only a matter of time and no better way to start it out than with Chucky in the original Child's Play movie. See you then everyone
Yessir. Can't wait for you guys to see it.
@@616Entertainment We look forward to it. You always deliver banger after banger
bro that batteries not included argument was gold xD great stuff!! loved the script.
Damn when I was kid these movies scared me. Here is the reason my younger brother looked like freaking Chucky to the tee. Even to this day people who knew him back in the day still call him Chucky the funny thing is that his name is David. Lol.
Hahahaha I love it.
The Hell Priest AKA Pinhead will always come to mind for me also. Both The Hell Priest and Chucky I saw around the same time. Loved having parents that let me watch whatever.
The freedom, man. The freedom!
Can’t wait . The retrospectives on horror are awesome
Plenty more to come!
@@616Entertainment and I just tested positive for covid
Ahh well, I could use the weekend off. Haha
On another note, I left a comment on another video but my sons and I watched Halloween ends for the first time (first time for them) last night before they went back to school.
At the end when it plays “don’t fear the reaper” my son said “I think the movie was good but it could have used more cowbell”
Haha
I almost kissed myself
Chucky didn't scare me, but Brad Dourif's voice did lol. Amazing review as always!
Ready and waiting
It's almost time!
Your passion for these always shows 😁 this serie is going to be great 🍻
Damn right!
Chucky is that guy since day 1 legendary Charles Lee Ray 🐐
100%
As a kid I was always obsessed with the 80’s slasher villains, but the Creeper from Jeepers Creepers scared the absolute hell out of me
Really good one, he's definitely nasty.
@@616Entertainment the scene in part 2 where he moves everyone out of the way on the bus gave me literal nightmares to this day
A half hour of Chucky talk, an Ace Steel reference, scenes from my city, and more behind the scene facts than I know what to do with... this was AWESOME!!... congrats on this 5* series, I look forward to every new episode
You are one of my favorite content creators and Chucky is my favorite horror character. Thanks for all the hard work man
Thanks dude, I appreciate that. Much more to come.
I never really found Chucky that scary, I do find him very unsettling. The fact that he's supposed to be a child's toy, the kid sleeps in bed with him, he's telling the kid all this fucked up shit, etc. Also the way he moves, either as a puppet or costumed man is really creepy. Kinda like seeing the endoskeleton of the T800 in T1 walking around.
100%, dude. The proximity is freaky.
One of my sister's favorite horror characters. I remember a toy that was released back in the 80s caalled my buddy and let's put it this way when Childs play was released you never saw that toy ever again lol
Heeeellllll yea, hahahaha
💯💯 Classic Child play is First movies awesome
No doubt!
Another retrospective knocked out of the park. Well done sir
Thanks man!
Child’s Plays/Chucky was the only big horror franchises I hadn’t watched yet. I can’t remember why I hadn’t but I watched all the movies last year with my younger and Chucky instantly became one of my favorites.
I love it.
I didn't expect Child's Play (1988) to be the type of movie where you fall before you even get hit.
So glad to see more horror content on this channel. This was a great first episode, Ian.
Also, that Ace Steel joke had me rolling 🤣
I like the use of the old SNES Spawn game soundtrack being used here. A man of culture, I see! Love the video. Thanks for all the great content.
This was ABSOLUTELY amazing, Ian. As someone who sadly and stupidly has never seen this movie up to this point, despite knowing the legend of Chucky, I was very impressed of you getting me more hyped to see it. I highly apologize for not seeing this movie any sooner, but as a growing horror mark now, thanks to you and my brother, imma make it my mission to see every horror classic before I die, and your retrospectives will definitely give me more of a reason to check them out if I haven’t seen them yet, depending on the film/series. So I just wanna say thank you Ian for making me more into horror with your awesome retrospectives and I can’t wait for more this year. I love you and the DanDans, and I hope to see y’all again soon.😁❤️
Hell yea man, I appreciate the continued support!

Of course, man. You absolutely deserve it.👍
I once painted Chucky on my window in the bedroom with my sister, at night even with light on i made sure i couldn't see him and covered it with the curtains lol i was shit scared from a freaking painting but loved the movies.
The first time I saw a chucky movie was Seed of Chucky back in 2004. My cousin rented the movie from Blockbuster. 📺 📼
I detest that movie. 0 out of 10. I'm sorry it was your first experience with the franchise, hahahaha
I’ve seen this movie close to 50 times, if not more. I’ve watched documentaries and even gone as far as to look up and watch other works by Brad Dourif and his daughter Fiona. I NEVER knew that Ed Gale played Chucky in those scenes. I’m flabbergasted and really glad I clicked the video and learned that. Very well done video, man. Appreciate it and look forward to what’s next!
Dude this made my day, thank you. To bring some new information to light, especially for a hardcore fan, is awesome. Shout out to Ed Gale!
Chucky was actually the one “monster” I was afraid of. Be real, our sisters didn’t have 7ft dolls with hockey masks, burned faces, or William Shatner masks. But they had innocent-looking 3ft dolls standing around. My stepmom even had some of those car show dolls that lean against the bumper. Seriously, I didn’t close my closet door for a few years at night. I wanted that shit open so I could at least see it coming if Chucky chose that night to attack.
I love this.
Our sisters?
I had a "My Buddy" doll...
@@thisisnotachannel no judgement here. You’re probably a little older than me. I was born in 1993, so by 1997-1998 they weren’t making dolls like that aimed at boys. All I ever saw were wrestlers, super heroes, GI Joes, little green army men, cars, monsters…etc.
That Ace Steel reference was perfect. Wrestling references and a Superman/ Supergirl background, dude we would be good friends.
Hahaha, thanks man. Plenty more to come, stick around.
I never noticed your sub count before, I always assumed you had hundreds of thousands of subscribers. The quality of your videos deceived me for sure, I can't wait to see what you're cooking up for us next!
I wish, man. Hopefully I'll get there. Thank you!
I loved it, thank you for your hard work.
I can totally relate to that story you told , when we were younger my friend Miguel and I would rough house and wrestle each other sometimes a little too rough German suplexes , body slams we did all of it and we got in trouble by him mom for rough housing too hard , good times 😂
It’s amazing we’re not all paralyzed, lol
@@616Entertainment I know right lol
I loved Chucky's insult show and terror tram experience back at Halloween Horror Nights in the early 2010's
Hahahaha I should try and track down some footage.
Fantastic! This is your strongest type of content, and I'm very excited for more of these. I hope it does even better than you expect it to. This was awesome.
I've never really been afraid of Chucky myself, only Michael Myers before Halloween got all mystical. Realistic stuff scared me most as a child. Magical stuff didn't really get me
I hear you. And yea dude, this is my favorite thing to do. There will be more retrospectives in 2023 than I’ve ever done before. Thanks for the continued support.
Thank you right back. Very happy to be here
Hey! Something you're reviewing that I've watched the whole set of! That's definitely a first
Hahahaha, well, this only covers the first one. Future SS episodes could dive into the sequels, we'll see how this does.
I hope you cover the rest of the chucky series 👍 great video as always
We will see!
Dude, congratulations of this new series! Also, I have never seen Child's Play. Any of them. Thanks to you, though, I'm going to check them out!
Hell yea, enjoy!
Chuckys look was inspired by the "my buddy" dolls not cabbage patch. Google the my buddy doll he's practically identical to the Chucky doll. And nobody ever mentions this for some reason. I'm really shocked they were able to get away with it because Im sure it hurt the sales of my buddy dolls. Great retrospectice man I always love when you do this I'm here day one waiting patiently
He was highly inspired Cabbage Patch Dolls. For years and years, Mancini denied any connection to My Buddy, it was only in recent years he relented.
I was terrified of Chucky when I was younger. I hated living dolls and ventriloquist dummies, he’s an absolute icon to me though.
EDIT: the ace steel line popped me huge
The Ace Steel line didn’t land on many, but I’m glad it landed for you, hahahah
Been looking forward for this all week! This is gonna be so good! Chucky used to scared the crap out of my siblings back in the day!

What a great birthday present! I watched this yesterday but failed to comment due to exhaustion from work and turning 39 👀🤣. Wear s well done vid, just as all of yours are but when we are talking horror, that's the sweet spot. I look forward to future installments. 🤟🔥🎃
Happy birthday! Thanks for watching, dude.
This was an awesome video. Hopefully you do a 2nd part on my favorite film of the franchise . Childs Play 2
Solid retrospective like always👍
Plenty more to coooooooome.
I wish I could've been there when it dropped... but I'm very happy to see this project finally come to fruition!
Congratulations, Ian... and congratulations to ME (and indeed US... the Dan Dans!)... because I can't wait to watch this!
And you chose a perfect starting point with "Child's Play"... I had a "My Buddy" doll (which is where Don Mancini actually got the idea... them and cabbage patch kids) in the early and mid 80's... then I saw Chucky.
He freaked me the fuck out... so I (literally) killed my doll by way of eye gouging... no way that fucker was gonna get me while I slept!
At nearly 42 years old, Child's Play (the first 3, skip a couple, then on to "Curse", "Cult", and the SUBLIME "Chucky" series) is still MANDATORY October viewing.
And you are correct, sir... born in '81 myself... no batteries included.
Well, except that one Steven Spielberg flick...
Edit: Ha! You showed it!
Hahahaha, glad you enjoyed it, dude. I'm sorry for your My Buddy who died a terrible death! lol
@@616Entertainment Thanks. He didn't deserve it... but I couldn't take the chance back then!
That ace steel comment killed me lmfao
Hahahaha glad that's getting over.
Finally! Another retrospective!!!!! This is why I’m here!!!
I do a retrospective every month, dude. Do you skip the other ones?
Not intentionally. I’ve been traveling so I haven’t been keeping up. It’s the weekend so believe I’m about to binge some 616!
This was a good one, dude! Looking forward to Silent Hill. The quality of the others has been excellent so I’ll go through the last few while I wait for next week’s. 🤘🏼
Still wondering why we haven’t hit 100k subscribers yet. Shouldn’t be legal.
Gotcha gotcha. Just wanted to make sure you weren’t missing anything! I get comments sometimes from people who seem to think I’ve straight up stopped doing the scripted stuff and it’s like dude, they’re right there! Hahaha.
And yea man, 2023 is DEFINITELY the year for 100,000. I thought maybe 2020, 2021 and 2022 might’ve been it but… hey 2023 LET’S GO. Lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m dying at the Ace Steel on a September night line!!
I was damn proud of that line.
@@616Entertainment I bet Ace's bank account isn't
Not gonna lie Chucky really scared me as a kid. If there was a collection of dolls anywhere I wasn't going near it.
Another awesome video as usual. Should of had a clip of Wormtongue in there for Brad Dourif tho. I just love Lord of the Rings that's all lol
Can't include everything! lol
I'm right around the corner from Chicago in Michigan City, Indiana. My guy ain't bullshitting about that weather 😂
Dude love the horror retrospectives!!! Great job with this.
Silent Hill episode next Friday!
the story at the end is some of the most Chicago stuff i've ever heard
Love it! I'm so excited for Scream Sequence!
Hope you enjoyed it!
The Ace Steel line popped me good, lmao
As a kid I was petrified of chuckie. A killer doll, an inanimate object coming to life and being evil that could do me harm. My mom used to tell me she’d get chuckie if I continued to misbehave and I’d straighten up cuz I wanted no smoke. Wasn’t until I became a teen that I started not being scared of chuckie. I sorta grew up with the movies because the movies became less and less horror and more horror comedy.
I wish I was as consistent as you are. Keep up the great work
You can be!
I was definitely waiting on this, I just got off work so this going to be awesome
Enjoy it!
That ace steel reference was top tier stuff
I loved the movie but it scared the s*** out of me. I was about 5 when i saw it. I had a nightmare that same night that Chucky climbed on to the bars of the window above my bed at the time. And he said “Hey Alex. Wanna plaaaaaaaaaaaay?” And i woke up with a high fever. I’ll never forget that. Chucky has become probably my favorite horror icon along with Michael Myers.
I love Bride of Chucky because it helped me get over my fear of him I figured if Chucky likes Rob Zombie then he can't be all bad.
Hahahahaha I love it.
Chuck is like a Chihuahua dog when he's after you.
Hahahaha
I will never forgive universal studios or don Mancini for not having Karen Barclay aka Catherine hicks return to the series! Her performance in the first film is why I don’t think it can be topped.
That was mostly John Lafia's call.
Amazing! Looking forward to this!!! Thank you 🙏
Can't wait for you guys to see it.
Freddy and chucky are my two favorites.
Can't wait for the next episode! Silent Hill is one of my top 3 favorite franchises. (i even dig the movies and comics.)
I won’t let you down.
I am a big horror fun , but for some reason i never watched child's play. thanks for retrospective!!! You gave me hipe for this movie!!!!
Thanks for watching!
As an early 80s baby I can definitely say toys came with batteries.. ya just missed it.
Oh dear.
No joke. When I was in First Grade and Halloween was coming around and the other kids were talking about scary movies and Chucky would enter the conversation, I was thinking they were talking about Chuckie from Rugrats and I just gave some idiot the next beloved childhood property to turn into a Horror movie after The Grinch, didn't I?
Hahahahaha
Interestingly enough, Alex Vincent (Andy Barclay) did a signing at a wrestling store in my hometown today.
Nice!
Oh god when I was young chucky really freaked me out. I have a little story if you don't mind me sharing. Chucky always got on my nerves but for me, the thing I was terrified of was the movie Signs. I was young when it came out and for some reason my dad burned me a copy. I loved watching movies and would always look at it before I picked something else. One day though I decided to put it on and no idea why but skipped to the chapter where Joaquin Phoenix was watching the birthday video. You propably already know but that scene shook me, and I mean it, I felt cold after watching that shit. When my friends came over we would put on this movie just to watch that scene and get freaked out. Well over a decade later I'm watching anything horror related and still getting scared. I did eventually watch Signs in full and it's one of my favoruites. Gotta be honest scary movie 3 helped a me get over that fear quite a bit.
Sort of went on a bit of a tanget there but hey your videos make me wanna share stories as well. Loved the video, have a good one Ian
I never realized until now that the Detective is Prince Humperdink.
Ooooohhhhh yeah I couldn't place him
pre video thoughts cant be collected, too excited since i love the child's play franchise
Enjoy it!
LOL ACE STEEL! its a great reference because his shoot name is Guy and Chucky is a good GUY doll....
That's even further than I thought about it, lol
Having just watched M3GAN... It's like comparing the Winged Eagle belt to Cena's spinner belt. It was fun and the kids love it, but everyone wants the classic.
I saw it tonight actually. Didn't like it. It's reviewing very well, I'm glad most seem to enjoy it, wasn't for me.
God damn, you're an entertaining dude, Ian.
Amazing video as always.
If I am correct, the background music is from SNES Spawn right?
The only thing I personally don't like about the first child's play is the lack of suspense and mystery. When Charles starts the voodoo ritual on the good guy doll and it ends with an explosion, many can easily see that he passed on something into the doll.
And before Maggie's death, we actually see him for a few frames.
This makes things clear in the get-go and scenes like Andy claiming Chucky did it and the batteries falling out of the box kinda lose their thunder.
It is indeed the Spawn music, good ear.
This was awesome. And I would love to see an episode dedicated to the underrated ultra-violent awesomeness that is horror-comedy gem of a vampire film series that is From Dusk Till Dawn.
And this series has one heck of a ride from the initial film trilogy which consisted of the awesome first film starring George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, Harvey Keitel, Ernest Liu, Juilette Lewis, and of course Selma Hayek in the role of the sexy vampire villainess Santanico Pandemonium, the mediocre sequel that was From Dusk till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money, and the decent prequel that was From Dusk till Dawn: The Hangman's Daughter, to the survival-horror/shooter video game for PC that serves as the "canonical follow-up" to the first film which had mixed reviews upon release in the early 2000s but now a days is seen as a mediocre to mostly god-awful game, finally ending with the fan-favorite TV show reboot of the first film that was not only a good reboot but expanded the lore of the first film which ran for 3 seasons on the El-Ray Network channel here in the US but can be revisited via watching the series on DVD yes all 3 seasons of From Dusk till Dawn have been released on DVD, and on Netflix as the entire series is available to watch on the streaming service.
As a kid I watched all the sequels first. I loved them (except for Seed) but I wasn't scared. Then one night I watch the original by myself and it scared the shit out of me. I was probably 12 or 13 and was too scared to turn off the lights and head to my room afterwards. So there I was, staying up until 6 am waiting for the sun watching random episodes of Futurama and Seinfeld that were on. That fear stayed with me and for a long while I was scared watching the sequels
Great video as always dude
Thanks man. Plenty more to come.
Still my favorite horror movie icon!
Good video, looking forward to more in this series. Subscribe for you my man
