- Armored SUVs are enjoying great popularity. Brabus, a company based in Bottrop, Germany, transforms standard G-Class models into fully armored special protection vehicles. The combination of full armor, made of hot-forged steels, and special glazing gives the colossal car the certificate of protection class VR6, which is mandatory for state limousines, for example. Our documentary presents the impressive vehicle fabrications and shows their special features.

American Engineering is the best
The perfection of the Germans is something else on earth
And it was in part that perfection that cost them WWII. So many hand built variations of tanks planes and trucks that spare parts were next to impossible to obtain. So your massive super tank might have the equivalent of a €20 part break and it was dead, useless.
Taken out of context, circa 1933
And the stupidity of the super-rich (who really want to last, what, a week longer than the rest of us as they run in one of these to their bunker during the apocalypse?) is by comparison astronomical.
🤨🤨
Made in germany was made by uk after ww2

The yellow pen used on the fasteners is not only to show it's been tested. It's also a visual aid to easily inspect the car later on to see if vibration or other forces have twisted the fastner loose so it can fall off. They set a mark on the head of the fastener, then on the structure to where the fastener is anchored. If those do not line up, tightening of the bolt is needed. This way several years down the line a quick visual inspection will tell if thing still is tight or in need of tightening.

The Invicto is just priceless
Excellent job by the brilliant manufacturers
Wow these Brabus people do some seriously amazing work!
The phrase 'German technology' is enough to win trust and respect.. Never fails expectations.. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yeah, like zyglon B and flying bombs

Hahahahaha as owner of 3 BMWs and one Audi (all of the cars bought for over 55k€ in the year of 2012 - 2024) i have to laugh🤣 The built material of these cars are a bad joke
Mady in Germany WAS a brand and sign of quality. Today it's long gone and everything you non-german people know is the marketing of it. Even here many germans are switching to other non german car brands more and more because they realize that others are as equally good or even better. You only buy a Mercedes, BMW and Audi for prestige or the look of the car not because of superior quality. Trust me on that.
I loved the amount of R&D has gone into making such vehicles.

This was really cool episode into the luxury armoured car segment. Quality work by the people at the plant and forgers.
For me it's still mean blowing that Brabus comes from Bottrop, where my mom comes from and where my grandparents and I spent a large part of my childhood.
What an amazing team of ppl that bring this level of professionalism & skills. That is a beast of a vehicle!
"This is the only way to produce the car like this!".
That was sounds badass.
So they don’t wanna keep the OEM badge to have the vehicle remain looking stock… 🧐. I’m sure they fine the engines as well for more power delivery. I know they left that part out to remain a secret but, the added weight would kill the stock performance on a truck that is already heavy to begin with. Great video. Seen a few of these truck in the Middle East.
They reinforce everything & use booster & air intake to minimise the explosion hazard yet higher performance
It's like 500+hp car, i think it has enough hp.
It's all branding. If you want a discreet armored civilian vehicle, you wouldn't go with either Brabus or a G class wagon. Those vehicles already have a reputation.
They do have the small 2 seater Smart car as well, for discreet purpose! 😃
We just had a turbo put on ours. Same engine.
With how Brabus works, it seems it will not be expensive for the one that can afford that car. Significantly if the characteristic of the vehicle is not compromised too much.
Thank you for the documentary.
Perfect. Finally a car I can take my family to vacation in Afganistan
Or Bradford in West Yorkshire 😅
That's incredible, Well done thumbs up
I bet a 50 cal and a small ied could f it up pretty good
The front passenger door is not fully closed at 43:50min. This is a common occurrence during the use of armoured vehicles. I wonder if the vehicle's tech applies to such a crucial nuance and alerts the driver/co-driver. Aside from the risk of compromising the security in such a situation, there is a real risk of damaging door hinges, which, long term, compromises the liquid tightness of the vehicle
It actually is. All Gs have that big gap to be able to accommodate the outwards hinge design they've always had.
Brilliant 💡 masterful engineers! 👍It was good to get a professional bodyguard's opinion and the drone: ingenious!

I think it's cool today that you can video work done on such a project to be used later for whatever reason: Maybe a quality check, a question of whether or not something was assembled correctly, or maybe a buyer alleges that something wasn't done, when in fact it was.
I’m impressed. Just placed an order
Germany is very good in technical design and original Engineering. Congratulations to Mercedes Benz for their ingenuity and creativity.
It actually started out as a Austrian jeep.
Mercedes didn't do the modifications, it's Brabus.
@@carl8790 he's talking about original engineering. Brabus just puts really expensive lipstick on a Mercedes that is now built by AMG.
So - basically the tuning of a car that comes from a nother tuning company ( AMG is now part of Mercedes - I know)
The original design of the g is Austrian by the way.
@@CHMichael technically, it's no longer a Mercedes for legal reasons, but I get what you're saying. Still, legally it's a Brabus product.

Perfection of something ready
Why not just order a semi-finished shell instead of spending more paying for a finished product, breaking it down, and reconstructing it?
is that even possible?
@@Laguna2013 I am asking I am sure these companies should know
Isn't it obvious? Mercedes is competing with other tuners with their own in-house tuning business, AMG. Why would Mercedes sell Brabus or other modification/tuning businesses with a semi-finished shell?
Besides that, the customer brings in their vehicles for the tuning. That's how it always been.

Not only is it a Mercedes Benz it's a Brabus, not only that it's actually an Invicto. Truly awesome
PERFECTION PERFECTED.
Worked in R&D for 14 years…the QC here is phenomenal.
To me there are just to many areas where you can get a j hook from a tow truck and it wouldn't go anywhere, there shouldn't be any open spaces in the push bar or roof rack to make it so easy to attach to.
Even underneath there should atleast be plastic shields to prevent tow hooks being able to attach to the beefy suspension parts
That is an astute observation. I wonder why they did not think of this.
That comment is so apocalyptic! Great catch
Clearly somebody has done a heist alredy
What would the scenario be where someone would attach a hook?
@@NWJF IDK anything’s possible when your car needs protection from explosions…
My attention span is at a crippling stage but somehow I watched this whole Documentary in just one sitting as it is so well made and to the point.
I like the covert base variant, not an immediate target but packs a tough shell.
Me and my cousin did this to my 88 Plymouth. Ran it right through a big pile of firecrackers. No problem!
Well done documentary. I would think that a client wouldn't want any badging stating Brabus, Invicto, etc. It should look like a standard G-Class to not tip off attackers, unless they want to discourage attacks.
Once the assasin knows the car is armoured, he just uses a more powerful gun or a bigger bomb. The invicto should look exactly l like a normal car, they should remove the invicto badge and rims and use normal brabus rims that are reinforced to protect the secret that the car is an invicto.
@@agnesnalikksa6342 What kind of 'professional' would not be able to tell an armored car from a regular car? A homeless?
Looks solid, love to get me one
Good work and good Team. Nice Workshop
This might seem like a naive question. but to save time (and money) why are the G-class cars ordered by this group not removed earlier from the production line before elements that will not be used are installed?
Remember before Mercedez ship a car, it has to undergo their full production process. They can't manufacture cars half done... a complete car has a price. The question is, would you pay full price for a shell and engine? Which seems to be the only things Brabus keeps on these vehicles.
Nice truck and great detail to work but I prefer the three point star sign on the front.

The German engineering is like no other.
Amazing brilliant love it lindsay
Thank you for your information.
If this company were to tell us EVERYTHING that goes into the build of these vehicles, the video would be 3 hrs long, and all their secrets would be out. That ain't happening folks, what we're watching is a very detailed (but incomplete) infomercial for their business. If I were a Brabus client, I definitely wouldn't want every terrorist group and shade-tree mechanic knowing more about my truck than I do ?
If you look closely from 20:47 to 20:53 there is a door opening from the explosion and next we see the view from above which shows the same thing :D. Also during these scens narrator tells us that: "the shelter cell withstand this" . If you want to take a closer look just pause the video and use "" to move between frames.
I was looking for this comment.
Wow... This is awesome 👍
SO COOOOL
Great video I wish they touch on weight of the vehicle, engine power upgrade and stronger steering rack
They said they add 1,000kg so look up the base weight of the G Class, add 1,000kg and there you go.
invicto pure is 4.3 tons
What do they do with the parts taken out? Sell it back to Merc?
I like how they handle the bullet proof windscreen carefully (with the suction cup machine thing) like fragile glass... :)
You cannot fit or align modern windscreens without suction cups. they are heavy and curved. 🤦♂
The only time a company actually has an excuse for being expensive, these guys absolutely deserve it.
A documentary about Rolls Royce would be great
Very nice vehicle for the safety of the riders only thing now is that it would seem as though a cage/prison is being built for its inhabitants when things go south; this documentary didn't cover that. Also, does the roof have to stay open at all times when using the drone?

The emergency hatch needs a viewing port for concealed covered firing by security . It doesn't lay flat and since it is up and provides front cover and concealment depending whether that is armored or not. Otherwise the must have for all rich who spend on exotics when they need this .

I thought they only buy chassis and engine but apparently they buy a complete vehicle. now the question is: what do they do with the old components since 70% of the orginal vehicle is removed? do they give them to the customer? do they resell them?
Obviously they resell them or use them on other cars
The video said they catalog the parts
Buying the whole vehicle to is what the customer ordered, they just want the armor upgrade
It's hard to sell the shell of a vehicle, 🙂
Pull out that check book👍
I just drooled, damn need 1 mil euros. How the gas mileage with all that power and weight. Do they make EV version.
No EV Version (yet). Regular G500 drinks 14 liters/100km and the Brabus armored one takes 19l / 100km ... so 16 US MPG down to 12 MPG

Yes. The ''background check'' for the cutomer has to be somewhat of a joke.
@@ADAPTATION7 it checks for how much bad deeds you have done. If its not enough you can even buy it
Absolutely. Police/Military etc. would probably get (a cheaper) G-Guard directly from Mercedes. And private individuals who have the money to buy one if these (and feel the need to do so) must have been are doing shady stuff...
Guess that's the typical Brabus customer anyway though.
I say this without hesitation, very impressive! However I wonder if a group of people are determined enough to get there target is this all for naught? Would something like depleted uranium rounds be able to penetrate this if attackers were able to block off escape routes?
Depleted uranium rounds would penetrate a tank, at which point you're probably better off not leaving your nuclear bunker let alone getting in any kind of vehicle.
You don't need any fancy uranium rounds to penetrate this it's rated VR 6 that's not even protection against standard .223.
How many people have access to that? Armoured vehicles are built with regards to the level of threat a person has. How many normal people have access to armour piercing bullets?. Only the military has that, and if the military is after you, then its better to just leave the country.
@@mrtherapy309 A lot of people have access to .223 or stronger calibers. Not just the military. In most country's you can get this stuff easy on the black market. Or if you have legal access to guns you can just buy it without any special permit.
Perfect against those dissatisfied citizens 👌
Love it this documentary, super-interesting. Now, considering all the time that it takes to disassembly a full produced G unit, would it be better if the factory ships partially completed cars, e.g. without the doors, and interior parts installed ? (besides everything else that is upgraded)
