Hey there, stargoose showed me this clip so I went and watched your VOD. Didn't watch much but I saw you had gone OOB in the first boss level and were like "oh I need the key to interact with this door!" No, I think they kept it the same as the OG game, because the actual exit trigger is hidden behind that door and you just need to walk into it from OOB. We've never figured out a reliable strat in the original DOS version, but there's a couple ways for us to clip OOB to hit the exit trigger early. Seems like some things can actually be done faster in the remaster which is crazy for me to learn.

Actually I watched a bit more and I realize now that you probably figured that as well but you were still figuring out if you could get further while flying OOB. I don't quite get how this OOB works in new chasm, as I don't actually own it, but I can see at least that they didn't change too much where triggers are concerned from the original, which impresses me since clearly they had to rewrite stuff like that from scratch (assuming so anyways).
Also you were going OOB in level 6 near the start and basically you can save so much time if you simply get OOB and get as close to near the end of the level as possible. The ideal would be to just fly over to the exit from OOB but I am guessing you haven't got anything to work with near where the exit actually is.

Lol, I keep coming back to your VOD and noticing you were discovering crazy shit that will massively improve the run. I don't have much else to say then really. Maybe 2022 chasm's time will catch up to OG time. Maybe? Best of luck with that. Based on our estimates though, OG Chasm is potentially able to go sub10 with good execution of basically every trick.

@@AlbertHamik1 hey thanks bro yeah I was discovering so much stuff that stream it just kept getting crazier hahaha. I eventually realized you can get OOB with the biggest enemy thats tall enough to reach through the invisible ceiling, and other enemies work too with certain attack animations. That would really open the door to getting OOB in episode 4 and more, and save so many minutes I can’t even imagine. I can’t wait to get back to the game and keep exploring, the runs gonna need a lot of rerouting for HP/armor with all of the new boosts lol so that’ll be a fun problem to solve. Imma try implementing as much as I can in my future runs rather than making more individual vids on tricks probably, but we’ll see how it goes. I might make a discord for the game if people want to get into running it to share more stuff
FYI I got the game free with Twitch prime if that’s something you have, otherwise I never would’ve found this game tbh

@@UberSheenaynay Yeah I saw that in your VOD. I did finally get the game, thanks for pointing out the Prime offer thing, and so far I'm remembering why I didn't like it, sorry to say to the developers. One thing that stands out to me is that I'm not working with a weak computer here, and the game has the gall to be pushing my GPU hard in terms of temperatures. I reduced the game down to something smaller resolution-wise and it still does that nonsense. I was thinking of trying to sneak up behind you with my prior knowledge of the original, but the player movement here still sucks in my opinion (better than the pre-release demo but yeah), so at best I'd just like to help test out some things when they catch my interest.
Do you run the game with framerate capped or uncapped? I capped it myself and during testing I did discover for the first boss that, as I suspected, you first need to damage boost over the locked green door and then damage boost off the boss himself to behind that exit wall, and the exit trigger is floating around right behind that wall. It is probable that because this messes things up for the following level, that you'd need to instead go through the boss level normally up until you get to the boss, just to conserve your health.

@@UberSheenaynay Oh also the ceiling clip stuff feels a bit random to me in some circumstances. Seems to be much easier with enemies, amusingly. Well, I'm just basing that opinion off the first boss but I imagine if I test out some more that'll still be the case. I do wonder how much you can bring the time down on this version. If you get within smacking distance of OG Chasm, I would deem that to be grounds for someone trying to seriously grind OG Chasm again to reclaim its title as the best version of the game for speedrun times.
The one thing so far is that the OOB trick is much less RNG related and more health management related. The biggest aspect to the 2022 run that I wish we had was a faster Dander (level 9). In OG Chasm, because of how the clip works, if we clipped into the church early, we'd be trapped there. Also level 4 seems to be way easier to OOB at the moment. We have two potential tricks for that level in OG that could be used in runs, but they both suck (and one of them has only been accomplished once). However, unlike 2022, we're not as much at the mercy of health management.
Also I'm curious to see what an Extra Levels run would be like with this OOB stuff. The OG run is fairly short, I've even had a couple theory strats (one being sorta proven to be doable) to make it a bit faster. Anyways, best of luck with getting back at this game. I'm excited to see what all you pull off.
