@@sandro5535 there must always be minor intricacies and mechanics that the playerbase has to discover for themselves - for the sake of longevity and replay value
Im sorry but that's just not true. Owls can fly in the rain just fine, like any other bird. I've worked with owls in the past and I can assure you that I've seen them fly in the rain without problems. If you were right they would fall out of the sky if it started raining while they are in the air. As I said before this is a myth and not a real problem
Yea luckily they don't have the velociraptor talons.. Imagine seeing a velociraptor standing on top of a tree - and then it just opens it wings and starts fucking flying towards you.
Shoutout to the Kestrel a build from the Falcon guild which has tweaked it's flying points to that it can hover in mid air. This allows them a great hunting vantage point without spending stamina or needing thermals to ride on (like Buzzards) This efficiency means that they are a viable build despite their small size, and has led to them spreading to almost every server.
I was one of the Velociraptor main on previous expansion and I can confirm that Secretarybird build is very similar to the Velociraptor, the only thing that is very different is the flying ability.
I personally hated the Beta. It had less characters and the humans were extremely underpowered. But at least I got special access to the rarest character ever: the 10 foot tardigrade
I never liked the dinosaur builds. They were just too powerful. I chose to be a deinonychus for the team play. It beat hiding in holes all day as mammals.

I went to read up on those fire raptors because that seemed so amazing. Apparently the aboriginal people of Australia have known about this phenomenon for millennia, because of course they do, and celebrate these "karrkanji", or trickster birds, with ceremonial dances.
While it may sound rude, we can't really trust anything the aborigines say until we find out ourselves. Their stories are either experience or religion, and even both, their not a reliable source. We can sure trust them after we discover it ourselves, like you say, they've known about it for years, but taking their word for it beforehand could lead you to believe in billabong monsters that hunt like crocodiles but have the shape of wooly men. A plausible creature, but no evidence of them.
Evil Paragon 2 Sure, scientists shouldn't just take anything like that at face value. I'm just saying often among things like mythical creatures, we have missed for a long time real animals. Coeleanths, for example, were known about by the native people of such and such island, but were only discovered by modern science, to much hurrah, pretty recently by comparison. Word of the native shouldn't be taken as gospel, and neither should any anecdotal evidence; but it's a good starting point for research, especially if it's long standing.
Eucalyptus TREES have been known to be flame resistant and release highly flammable substance so that other types of plants did and the soil is fertile
The Harris hawk is also worth mentioning as they are the only bird of prey which hunts in groups. They coordinate their attacks within the group which makes them very powerful and easily S tier
It looks to me like it was an eye gouge. The pelican is still trying to stabilize afterward and the two were flying at the same speed during the attack.

Oh, I love Secretary Birds! The best game I've ever played was with a Secretary Bird. One time, I was face-to-face with a deadly cobra, staring it down. We both sat there for what felt like forever, locked in mental combat; I had never been able to stand up against a cobra in any of my previous play-throughs on the server. It tried to bite me, but my scaly legs gave me defense against its venom attack, and it gave me a punish opportunity, and I nailed the stomp attack right on it and took it out. I can't wait for the next bird video! I still want a rodent tier list! You've been spending a lot of time on predators, let's see the other side!
Undrave if you think a video of rodents is the opposite of predation, you are quite wrong. The least predator build has to be a plant build, which I would LOVE to see a video on
I dont think Tier Zoo is that knowledgeable about the plant meta. But I know rodents can be agressive, they also have to consider predators a lot in their build.
Try "Holy shit they made a secretary bird a high-ranking secretary on a Japanese cartoon with a ton of social commentary...AND they implemented those kicks." Washimi from Aggretsuko, so OP.
Owls are criminally underrated, as their talons are fierce and hearing is impeccable. Their biggest con is definitely not being able to fly when it rains.
Well hes covered Geese and Swans in another video. Also im sure less people have been requesting other random bird types than the other topics hes covered like past metas and specific fan favorite builds like the Goat
Great horned owls actually have a 500 psi talon grip, enough to crush the skulls of prey animals, and have been known to chase off bald eagles from their nests. It’s literally called the Flying Tiger due to this and their striped pattern Also, 2:06-2:15, those Great horned owls literally attacked both ospreys and a bald eagle.

Just found your channel, and the gaming term metaphors are S class. Love it haha, and I'm not even a big gamer I been into animals/nature and stuff already, but yeah great content, subscribed!
TierZoo, you forgot to add your Patreon link/social media info to the video description! This small minmax misplay could cost you subscribers in the lategame :o Great video as always.
You forget that lategame subscriber growth is based more on fan loyalty than other factors, and as such, not plugging his other platforms in an obnoxious manner is actually a fairly smart conservative play, since by focusing on the quality of content without unnecessary plugs, you'll annoy your existing fans less with minimal growth dropoff.
If you can get me to actually enjoy learning about animal biology then you have by far earned both my subscription here, but also my support on patreon. I've pretty much binge watched your entire channel on my one day off work this week lol. Keep up the good work, because soon there will be millions of eyes watching you, so the pressure will be on.
Left out the Coraciimorphae builds, but most people don't consider hornbills and woodpeckers in the same guild as the great raptors though. But you miss out on the Trogons and Quetzals, builds which take aesthetics to the extreme, but given their low player base, the unstable server status in the Amazon, and how overworked the GMs are, there's not a whole lot of data to work with so I can understand. Plus Coraciimorphae includes Toucans, which are known omnivores, so that's reason enough to leave them off the list. Would be interesting to do an entire video about the aesthetic talent trees. You implied in Cat vs Dog that overspeccing into aesthetics can be a detriment, but some builds use it to boost their camouflage/stealth to incredible heights.
olehoncho I personally wonder where ground based raptors rank, like the Secretary Bird and Roadrunner. (edit: clearly I needed to finish the video first ^_^)
Secretary Birds deserve their spot in S tier. But roadrunners are no slouch either. The are successful in the harsh American southwest/Mexican servers. They have an insanely fast start (egg to fledgling in just over a month) with mating pairs sometimes having two broods in a single nesting season, their fast ground speed/flight abilities give them incredible movement skills, and the thorny bushes/cacti they nest in give them incredible protection for their young. Roadrunners are easily A tier. A little weak to the environment (did not pick up migration), with some bad matchups (feral cats, figures), not the strongest hunters, but they can down small rattlesnakes. An incredible build.
@@VfBSilas Australia server is a human hard counter server. Almost everything there is capable of and willing to kill human players. Including the non-player envirement. Emu players are better adapted to those conditions, giving them a huge tactial advantage for guerilla type warfare.
@@Yal_Rathol They don't steal human fire. It's the natural bush fires that happen. They grab a stick hold that stick over the fire then spread it to a different area of the bush to flush out animals like rabbits.
Been a fan pretty much since the beginning. I really love these videos because they explain it in such a great way. A tier list idea: do some tier lists not by animal groups but by spawn areas. Aka balkans, south east asia, north america etc etc. Gives a better matchup overview.❤️
@@praxis6172 The Disrespect of the cat build, particularly the housecat, is quite toxic I feel. It really deters players from choosing such a build if they are only seen as weak useless creatures who may provide entertainment and cuteness, whilst any actual skill they have in Outside is ignored. This is sufficiently mediated by the safety and high success rate of the main of being a housecat, since they are a team build with the notoriously broken human.
When discussing vultures, you forgot about bearded vultures, who exchange the imperfect tank style for a weird niche build where they gain experience by scavenging what's left after the other animals have looted the carcass. Their unique Ossivore trait literally generates loot and experience from bones. Add to that an incredibly powerful build as one of the largest airworthy birds in existence and some beefy talons and you have a recipe for a class that no one else really wants to bother with because they lack normal loot pools and are just too much of a nuisance in combat to want to deal with for experience.
Remember, in a recent update the Bald Eagle build got the top tier ability to be protected from human players, which makes the human build useless unless you get the crime ability.
Amarok582 More than that, their sheer size and majesty has earned them a good amount of admiration from the human guilds, and since many have adopted it as a sort of symbol, it’s generally taboo to hunt them anyways, so unlike a lot of other former apex predators, they don’t usually have to be too concerned about humans trying to hunt them
Eagles are one of my favorite animals. In my area, you can't hunt ANY eagle here, as that's a felony. Including golden eagles. If you kill a golden here, not only will the government hate it, but the local Native American tribes will hate it as well. The only ones exempt is the electrical plants, but even then, it's more inadvertent than anything.
Secratary Birds are peak power gamer hours. When traits are selected purely for optimising the meta no matter how weird and goofy the resulting build is.
I always love watching theses videos. Before discovering them I never realized how balanced the meta is. I mean there are no players that are able to traverse deep into most all of the skill trees, and even if they do seem OP there is usually an exploitable weakness to prevent then from being to dominate. Thank you for opening my eyes to how the meta truly works.
I once watched a documentary about owls. I don't know if this part was about just one type of owl, or all owls, but it said that despite their insanely good hearing, owls are so quiet that they can't even hear the sound of their own flying. I don't know if that's true, but it sure sounds badass.
Thanks to everyone who voted in the polls! Secretary birds are pretty awesome looking too! I didn't realize they were actually raptors though. This is really cool. And those Australian fire starters are impressive.
Yesss! Another vote for the rodent tier list!
So the American Hawks are causing those California forest fires.
capybara for the win, should there be rodents
Holy shit, I just realized that the Secretary Bird was the main inspiration for the Blaziken O.o
Blaziken is a cockfighting rooster
ZionideZnCl2 Oh shit you’re right

A great idea and interesting one is the ant build and see who is the best.
The Entity And a good question is if they are individual builds or just one super build like the man o’ war.
The amazing thing about the ant builds is they are one of the few builds that can spec into the livestock and farming skills.
yup also they can also set up bases basically anywhere to defend new players and create a nigh invincible team play
for ants i am calling it right now, it's the eciton burchellii army ant at the top of S tier. no other ant even comes close.
but solenopsis and paratrachena longicornis are EVERYWHERE essentially
Owls are criminally underrated, as their talons are fierce and hearing is impeccable. Their biggest con is definitely not being able to fly when it rains.
Was thinking about this channel all day during my Zoology class and I come home from it to see you've uploaded. This is an S+ tier day.
Hunter - the prophecies have been fulfilled!!
Lmao was the same for me after revising for a biology exam tomorrow
I love how he means gravity by "letting the physics engine of the game do the work for them"
HE'S NOT WRONG TBF
I remember writing an essay on peregrines in a RUclips comment. Worth it.
Also, learning that hawks have started fires... **sees Talonflame** Game Freak you sly dogs.

Tier zoo:it'll take forever to make a bird tier list

the Saker Falcon (Falco Cherrug) can go up to 315 km/h

As a biology student your channel is the best thing i ever found on youtube
You know he said that he would make more videos for the other bird classes.....
WELL WERE ARE THEY?
Well hes covered Geese and Swans in another video. Also im sure less people have been requesting other random bird types than the other topics hes covered like past metas and specific fan favorite builds like the Goat
@@typhoonhurricane18 true
Over there (points to bad idea pile)
typhoonhurricane18 I’d love to see a corvids tier list, the raven class is one of my favourite in the game.
Idk where they were
Great horned owls actually have a 500 psi talon grip, enough to crush the skulls of prey animals, and have been known to chase off bald eagles from their nests. It’s literally called the Flying Tiger due to this and their striped pattern
Also, 2:06-2:15, those Great horned owls literally attacked both ospreys and a bald eagle.
The dislikes obviously came from nerfed previous builds.
Lol
There just to salty
6:00 I had to go back and slow the video right down just to see that attack.
That was a bullet. Not a bird. Holy shit.
Should've edited in jet engine noises.
@xBirds And by frame 2 it had landed the hit, and the duck's neck had basically touched the ground from the impact, god damn.

You seriously make the best videos on RUclips. As a Runescape nerd and an Animal Fanatic, these videos are the best of both worlds.
I genuinely get excited when I see an upload from this channel.
Keep up the great work man, and if you play osrs, you should totally add me.
I had the biggest goofiest smile when you said Secretary bird because ITS MY FAVORITE... as you can see by my icon I drew
Morganism thats a really good profile picture, thinking of changing mine to a weird lizard picture i found and am using as my steam profile
I built an awesome papier maché secretary bird as part of a school project in elementary school. They're the best.
That is an AWESOME drawing!
Not as cool as a harpy eagles
thats a lot of work for a joke no one will get except people on this video, or bird fanatics. but i must say, awesome picture.

australia: birds that spread fire
Talonflame
Now i get it.
Well the eucalyptus trees are actual arsonists, the eagles are just imitators
I shall complain in the chat:
Australia OP.
literally though australia has animals that are either like 2-5 times bigger then most places around the world or like more dangerous then most places around the world and due to that i never considered wanting to live in australia it’s just dangerous and the bugs that are so much bigger just disgust me and like if the bug is bigger then 5 inches well then look at the news for burning house breaking news

TierZoo, you forgot to add your Patreon link/social media info to the video description! This small minmax misplay could cost you subscribers in the lategame :o
Great video as always.
How is having the links being in the description obnoxious? That's the one place they are completely fair game.
very nice analysis ! i m gonna keep that in mind when going this route too
If you can get me to actually enjoy learning about animal biology then you have by far earned both my subscription here, but also my support on patreon.

And kookaburra. Don't forget kookaburra.
Not even a kookaburra main I'm just triggered.
I can't wait to see where emus are put on a tier list, considering they won a war against humans.
But only on the Australian server tho
@@malvoliomaximillian2001 It's one of the hardest servers ever but okay

Australia server is a human hard counter server.
Almost everything there is capable of and willing to kill human players.
Including the non-player envirement.
Emu players are better adapted to those conditions, giving them a huge tactial advantage for guerilla type warfare.
Oh shit that’s right. Guess us humans aren’t broken that mere emus can beat us.
This makes me wonder how good giant, flightless vultures would be
Giant Flightless Vultures without hollow bones are easily S tier

Birds cause Forrest fire lmao
@@jmarch_503 they can't start fire. what they can do is steal human fire and stoke a forest fire to corner prey.
because fucking australia, of course.
@@Yal_Rathol They don't steal human fire. It's the natural bush fires that happen. They grab a stick hold that stick over the fire then spread it to a different area of the bush to flush out animals like rabbits.
@@ARandomGuy24 they also steal fire from human campfires to do that same thing.
I taught a Falcon how to Punch.
It took that & discovered that fire did more than hurt the victim.
I am pleased to say that: TierZoo is the only channel I have my bell turned on for.
Been a fan pretty much since the beginning. I really love these videos because they explain it in such a great way.
A tier list idea: do some tier lists not by animal groups but by spawn areas. Aka balkans, south east asia, north america etc etc. Gives a better matchup overview.❤️
George Kanchev that's a good idea
There was an australia server guide recently which was really fun to watch. Server breakdowns would be nice to see again. Awesome content!
I'm aware and it also was probably my favourite one, which is why i believe it is the best format/layout for these videos

The cat shares the same mindset as me
If at first you fail, flop on the floor and never try again
Angry oofling The first You seem to underestimate the cat build. If that were true, they’d be dead by now.
Conserving murder energy you mean.
Amarok582
More than that, their sheer size and majesty has earned them a good amount of admiration from the human guilds, and since many have adopted it as a sort of symbol, it’s generally taboo to hunt them anyways, so unlike a lot of other former apex predators, they don’t usually have to be too concerned about humans trying to hunt them
Eagles are one of my favorite animals. In my area, you can't hunt ANY eagle here, as that's a felony. Including golden eagles. If you kill a golden here, not only will the government hate it, but the local Native American tribes will hate it as well. The only ones exempt is the electrical plants, but even then, it's more inadvertent than anything.
Golden eagles and harpys are better
Viva México xd

I always love watching theses videos. Before discovering them I never realized how balanced the meta is. I mean there are no players that are able to traverse deep into most all of the skill trees, and even if they do seem OP there is usually an exploitable weakness to prevent then from being to dominate. Thank you for opening my eyes to how the meta truly works.
Humanity comes close to unlocking all skill trees but a human player must have a lot of ingame currency to be able to access the upgrades
The only op thing that actually excists is an emerging property of intelligence - civilisation
