Shovel Knight Dig has a true ending and secret area that can only be accessed by completing a quest with six steps. I'm here to guide you through all six steps to make sure you're ready for the long road ahead. Feel free to ask any questions. Fun fact: A pile of dirt that "requires" a big bomb to open on the Alpheous suck part, actually can be opened with a regular bomb. So as an alternative stretegy you can go for enemy kill with Book of bomb or smack some environment in Scrap stage for them.

Tbh, I don't play rogue or that genre. I loved Treasure Trove so I checked out this game to see if it was my style cuz I love the existing Shovel verse. But sadly, rogue still isn't my style xD
Fair word of warning: DO NOT go to Grub Pit first. Magic Landfill is flooded with enemies that can freeze you and if they hit you, you won't be able to pick up the bomb before it explodes. Just threw a really good run by doing this, and I won't be making that mistake again.
I guess this one is on personal preference and loadout. I prefer going to Grub Pit first because I don't enjoy being swarmed by a big enemy count. Having the rings equipped during Magic Landfill negates damage of their respective element and allows you to run through enemies attacks without losing the bomb.
The bomb in the Magic Landfill absolutely breaks me everytime. I don't know what they were thinking putting something so easy to flub up near the very end of the run
Thats a run ender for most. If you're lucky a 2nd one will spawn but thats only happened to me twice and not a guarantee
My run almost ended there once, but I was lucky to have the relic that spawns bombs off of defeated enemies, so I killed a flying rat and used its bomb to blow up the rubble. Managed to complete the run after that too! :)
Wow, this is way more involved than I was expecting, and I was already celebrating my normal run victory!!

Good lord, this sequence is cryptic as hell! How would anyone know to do all this without using a guide like this one? What were the devs thinking???
Some of the NPC's drop hints on how to get the quest started
Surprisingly I just got really lucky with most parts.
Part 1 happened because I almost never passed a side area.
Part 2 happened because the cog on the well is a very useful trinket and I would never pass up buying it.
Since Part 3 told me what I needed to do, I didn't really have trouble getting all the sacrifices.
Part 4 and 5 were just really good luck and a decent amount of experience playing the the game but yeah I could have easily lost the run.
For the final part, since I beat the game once before, I thought it was kinda weird how the final phase of the boss fight was so easy and realized that was when to use the omega driver.
But yeah it does seem kinda cryptic looking back on it.
Update on the Triple locked door. You can actually use 3 regular keys to open that door if you lost the Skeleton key.
I accidently dropped my Skeleton key into a pit a spikes while deciding which key to keep, I was very frustrated until I made it to the locked door and all three of my keys were able to unlock the door.
So that's a fun fact right there.

had the perfect run and then died in drill knight's castle because of an obstacle that I'm pretty sure was impossible to bypass. It was the type where you have to hit one of the flying drills into a hole to continue, but it was set in such a way that I literally could not hit it from the correct side, so i got killed by the omega saw. oh well, good guide anyway
I've been able to get as far as finding the hidden room with Altius, but I never would have imagined there were so many "guide-dang-it" steps to this! Very great guide though, everything was well explained.
These steps can get real hard. The bomb step seems to be giving people the most grief. I hope you get to the true ending!

@@cutlerangelo8134 Yeaaaaa thats the hardes part. Try your best to just keep moving. That will make the bomb lag behind you and give you some breathing room. It took me a bit before I got comfortable with the bomb

another thing that is very good to know is that if you die to the omega saw while the omega driver is already flying towards it, it still counts and the game brings you back to full health

Something I should have noticed before: Altius can sometimes just arbitrarily never show up: It was seen in my playthroughs: At first he showed up just fine, but soon enough, he went down the pit and... never showed up again. Barely like he ever existed anymore.
I've had soeme run ins like that. I think what happened to me is that I just wasn't thorough enough in finding hidden rooms

The regular victory aint bad. It sucks when one mishap happens and the whole run is ruined. The pain.....
I appreciate your video. Playing with my son and he was so happy he beat it. But man I tried this twist when he wasn't around and it's rough, borderline cruel. Think I'll call it a game and maybe when he's older reveal the challenge.

So, I did this all correctly while getting to drill knight with an insane load out and health upgrades….all to fail because I let the saw hit me before I could use the relic on it. All on my first attempt. I. Was. Fuming.

These kinds of hidden stuff in the roguelike game reminded me some of the more convoluted stuff in the Binding of Isaac

Fun glitch: skeleton key opened a locked pathway to a different stage, fell into the hole and disappeared.
I just got to the part with the blocked off tunnel that Altius unscrews the boards on, but once I jumped in there, Shovel Knight just keeps falling in an endless loop. Idk why the game decided to bug out on me right there of all places but I'm seriously pissed...
You're the second person to say this. I'm gonna look and ask around to see if a solution is on it's way. I agree that its extremely infuriating to get locked in that specific step.

There are some hints given out by some of the NPC's. I haven't found any secret related to Master Argus yet if there are any

@@blay_DEV Unsure yet. The only one I have left is a standoff with the omega saw for 60 secs.
@@MegaYoYo you've probably done it by now but just in case you haven't, you can get the 60 seconds fairly easy in magic landfill by just finding an area with a portal on the left and right, just hop between them whenever the saw gets close!

This is already difficult enough, why am I insisting of getting my first True Ending run with the Scrounger's Suit?
Man if I don't suck ass at rouge likes I beat most of the souls games but rouge likes are another beast
Both those genres can be extremely hard
I was just doing a run, and it was going so good: I had 14 health(28 if you consider two per dot) due to blinding hot curry, I had the best shovel upgrades, and a remix feather on back up. I was doing the bomb on grub pit, as the game forces me to, and I was just about to get the wall down, when I got shot by one of the stupid bugs and could t recover in time and lost the bomb. I’m so mad at the game that I deleted it😂

It took me ages to get the true ending! When I did the final hit it felt like Samurai Jack finally killing Aku

It took a lot of tries for a true ending. The worst feeling was missing up on the final step. That's a soul crusher
@megayoyo sorry if this isn’t related to the guide but: what is the damage dealt by the omega driver?
You see what happened is that I was trying to get the incomplete gems endings but I did not turn around at the omega saw and killed drill knight so I was curious how much damage it does and tested it on hive knight, he died on one hit, so is it ridiculously high or is it a pocket omega saw (infinite damage)
I believe it might be a pocket omega saw. That thing wrecks anything in 1 hit
Does all of these have to be done in all of one run? I know you warp back to the other areas by paying that guy at the camp, but do all of these quest have to be done in a single run?
You got it! No halfsies you have to commit
You know what is frustrating? On the PC/Steam version, I managed to do things all the way to *step 5,* but guess what? Once I defeated Hive Knight and jumped in the pit to head towards the Magic Landfill to do step 6, the *game bugged and Shovel Knight kept falling endlessly in the hole in a never-ending loop* (i.e. the game wouldn't even load the Magic Landfill stage). Needless to say, the game is already *very short* with an *abysmal story* (it currently has a *mixed rating* on Steam) and now to get this bug while already doing a *tedious* amount of work to get the true ending is very frustrating. I will wait for a future bug fixes patch to try again, but overall I am *underwhelmed* by this game to be totally honest.
That glitch has happened to a few people now. I'm gonna look around and see if there is any sort of patch coming up for that. The game being short i'm okay with and I enjoy the story. I hope when bugs get patched out you'll come back in rightfully enjoy it.
How are you even supposed to know about this whole sequence...? Does someone in the game inform you of this?
Actually yes, I forget who but they do mention it
NPCs around the campsite will mention the importance of the six gems, Altias (the owl) not knowing where to go, and the idea of hijacking the drill capsule. If you don’t bring Altias with you, Shield Knight will note his absence. Altias will perch on the first drill capsule of the second area, signifying its importance.
Despite all of this, I would still say that it’s very cryptic and not explained to the player well enough.
Thankfully, after the first two steps, the rest of the steps of the quest are explicitly explained to the player by Shield Knight

I think I got extremely lucky on the bomb section, especially because it was the first time I had made it that far. I had lost the first bomb pretty early, then somehow I found another. I blew up the rubble and sent Altius down the tube, and proceeded to finish the whole rest of the quest.

@@MegaYoYoNOOO!! I made it a second time and when I used the omega driver I also ran into the thing and it killed me therefore not counting even though I got resurrected with the phoenix feather the driver was still used up, now left having to beat up the knight in shame.
Are you supposed to get a normal ending first then try to get this ending?
Because when I tried shield knight find me sleeping

So I did a run and it turns out the game DOESN’T care if you use the big bomb, I ain’t joking, I did a run we’re I lost the bomb and a normal size bomb somehow fell next to the wall and the game counted it’s explosion and I was able to get in.
Sadly I still failed that run but I thought gif mention it for y’all

How can I get cogs and drill machine back? I failed at step 5 and now cogs and drill machine are gone.
You should not lose them after step 5. They should keep coming back. They are only gone during step 2

I might know what happened, I made the gems "overflow" so I have now a "minus" count of gems.. so odd. Anyway a save file would help a lot ♥

Finally had a run and for some reason the screwdriver didn't work on the saw. No idea why but I pressed it and nothing happened, no dirt blocking or anything. Idk
Not sure if this helps but did you got the scree in the middle of the saw?
@@MegaYoYo I thought so I mean I dug a clean line and the saw was right behind me. I turned around and pressed Y and nothing happened.
Maybe I was too far idk

@@DigitalD20 They working on a lot of bugs right now. A lot of them are getting patched out. I remember when I entered a secret room and I had no way to get out. 25 mins down the drain.
The amount of time this took me...I might just be bad at the game though 😅
I beat the game once, but after like 15 tries I found this process to be quite obnoxious. Dying at some point in the run is fair, but erasing 30 minutes of progress because you miss a cog or drop the bomb killed it for me
The cog I don't mind cause it's so early on. Missing the bomb tough made me walk away from the game at times

I'm sorry man. They are releasing a lot of patches recently and I hope this one gets addressed.
I just did things different. I dont know if it's a glitch. I got in that door with one of those keys that breaks. Actually ametal one and then breakable one. Then I broke the grinder with the screw. It gave me a bomb but I never found the door or I missed it. I was dicking around with the magic boss trying to hit them with the bomb and died. Anyway if it wasn't a glitch I got in that door with a breakable key after a metal one. Also used the throwing screw to destroy the grinder. Knowledge is power!!!!!!!!!! 💥 💥 💥 💥 💥

I was at the bomb part and sheild knight just didn’t give me the bomb I tried talking to her 10 times and she didn’t drop the bomb
