A few years back I heard this nazm for the first time. I fell in love with it instantaneously. When it comes to the most romantic poetry is concerned, this is certainly one of them along with many others such as chaudavi ka chand and others. At that time, I was at the beginning of my music journey and did not possess the requisite skills to truly understand and digest the intricacies of this composition. What seems like a relatively easy Nazm has many nuances, something only a maestro such as Ustad Mehdi Hassan can give justice to it.
