    Folks the Familyt DIDN'T ignore the child. How many families do you know of that wouldn't allow their child to play in the Sand at any beach? this is the reason why they went to the beach was to enjoy the day at the beach. I don't understand why people are criticing the family. The LAST thing the family wants to hear is criticism, instead show some SYMPATHIES for the family!!

      Knowing how kids are, being one myself once, I’d say about 10 min. In sand. Especially if in a group. Which was probably why the parents thought they were safe. Raising kids is hard bordering on impossible. Sometimes bad things can happen regardless of your best intentions. Just don’t be to quick to vilify the parents. It may not be called for and only compounding the tragedy.

      Thank you for stating this - very true.
      They’ve already lost their child which is horrifying enough.
      Children play, and we’ve all done stupid things as children. It’s part of growing up. Coddling isn’t good either, it has long lasting effects.
      The witness stated the hole became deeper as they tried to dig her out.
      I grew up on both a river and at the beach, and lost a friend in 3rd grade from digging by the river. A child is more likely to be washed out when the tide comes in on a beach. Parents tend to relax at the beach feeling all is well, safe.
      These people all need prayer and emotional support. Any parent will feel guilty the rest of their life, and lose friends, with social media be tormented.
      We’re here to help people, not treat them like crap.
      Life is hard. 💝🙏🏼

    I’m surprised they were able to dig that deep while maintaining the walls for as long as they did. Used to do that a lot as a kid, you reach water quite quickly and the sides start sliding in.

    This reminds me of the parents who took their kids into the water near Disney. One of the kids got snatched up by an aligator. Why would anyone think standing at the bottom of a 6' hole at the beach was a good idea? Digging is one thing, but seriously... 6' deep? Even if the kids weren't at the bottom of the hole, you shouldn't be digging that deep at the beach. Most people who do stuff like this don't fill them back in, and it's a hazard to leave something like that for another person to fall into. Wake up people...

    Florida is a sandbar. Its not very deep before you reach water again. Many may not realize that Orlando was once ALL SWAMP and disneys construction filled in the places with sand etc. Much of Florida is like this. Sand shifts like crazy. Why was a kid digging a 5 ft hole anyways?

    I think the State has a duty to protect people who visit public beaches. The government needs to set a limit on how deep you can dig on a public beach. There need to be signs informing people of the statute or code as well as the danger of sand holes. The State needs to hire more lifeguards and give them the authority to enforce the code.

  • @mikewerner3797
    @mikewerner3797 8 месяцев назад +1

    There needs to be more efforts to educate people of the danger of digging holes and shifting sand. My kids also dug holes in the past ( some very deep and large) and I was aware they were doing it but I was not aware of the dangers at the time , 20 years ago . I am extremely lucky that nothing happened, but it could have and I know now about the dangers.

So i literally dont understand the logistics of what happen! I wish they would draw a diagram or something bc im so confused how this happen physically happen! It just doesn't make any sense to me! They need to go to every beach/lake and have it looked at and scanned with some kind of high tech equipment and make sure there are no giant open areas or holes underneith the surface that could collapse in on ppl like this!!!
