Innovation in the gaming industry is regressing at this point. I remember when each new console upgrade brought mind blowing changes and now something just gets worse every year for gaming.
Why I love nintendo. Because they are only one in the space left with each new console that is something different or new even if it might bomb they are only one of big three left experimenting
I think innovation is harder these days. What can you do as a dev? Usually it’s specific devs that make their games worse. Look at a game like ready or not. It’s the single best first person tac shooter there has ever been and has never screwed its community. Yet the cod rights holders screw the player base every year or so but they do it because they know the PB is so cucked if they fart in a bottle and send it to them the PB will call it a W and won’t just stop buying their products
"Boiling frog syndrome" is a metaphor used to describe the failure to act against a problematic situation which will increase in severity until reaching catastrophic proportions. The term is taken from an anecdotal parable about boiling a frog, in which a frog placed in boiling water will immediately try to save itself, but one placed in cool water that is gradually brought to a boil will not notice the heat until it is boiled to death
This 100% describes current gaming companies and current gaming problems to a T. People are selfish, aren't self aware, and don't want to branch out their thoughts and ideologies. The common person needs to understand that although they might not partake in something, it might eventually affect them somewhere down the line, and need to notice that. I also think it's as simple as people not being logical and emotionally intelligent enough to notice these things.
@@Scriptease1 In that said ancedote, the frog was quite literally lobotomized. And much like the frog, gamers of today are too lobotomized to act against any of this. Mark my words, it will sell like any other.
Man I fuckin miss the days of getting Master Chief helmets and full statues with collectors editions. Fuck dude, even having the panda in SoD is a huge fucking flex.
Game publishers treat their players like ATMs. The only way to stop this from happening is if gamers only support studios that treat their customers with the respect that we deserve. keep in mind folks gaming companies need us, we do not need them.
Tbh, gamers shouldn't shit on a base game just because it hasn't needless things for your first playthrough. I am assure no one will restart the game immediately, cause it is already huge on it's own.

For sure. And people make fun of the "not connected to internet" shit, but where I live there's a ton of people without internet even now. Until I got out of high school I didn't have stable internet so it would be dope if my single player RPG didn't boot me out of it because I'm not connected 😅

@@Eta_Hoyimiyup but at the same time I do appreciate all the beta testers. Those who like to spend top dollar to make sure people like me (who wait) will get a better cheaper product.
I started buying almost all my games on sale years ago. Only way you can get around this and get all the features that should be in there at the start. You play the game way after release but you maybe get the full game for a reasonable price. Very few games worth their MSRP. There are exceptions, such as BG3, stuff by FROM software etc..
Agreed! I’ve been a fan of the Mech Warrior franchise my whole life but refused to buy it on Epic games during its year long exclusivity. Within 2 months of it going to Steam I got it for $34 along with all dlc’s.
Same there’s really no point in getting games at release, anymore games come out half baked, if it’s online you can bet on day one the servers are going to be fucked! If people would stop preordering and maybe waiting a few weeks after release for the reviews to come in from sources you trust game companies would be forced into making something playable! Wishful thinking oh well 😢
I'm God honest, I quit buying games after the Xbox I saw the future of gaming. Now If I could live a life without mobile games I'll be th3 ultimate Boring person
The fucked up part is that if a game tanks it’s the bottom line that goes first. That means management which is usually responsible for the fucked up decisions goes unpunished for failure.
And I think thats why the gaming industry is failing, and most good game that comes out are just flukes. It goes against Darwinism principles, If you fail, you learn from you failure and you go on and make something better, problem is, the devs usually don't have that chance. The management are just good at capitalism and not making good games, so they don't really evovle and just blame the devs.
Work hard on game for years. Upper management locks most of your work behind paywall. Most people don't buy game in protest. All the devs get fired for game doing bad. Company announces record breaking revenue highs. Upper management/accounting gets promoted.
Honestly changes like this are just perfect opportunities for Indie games to pop off. While AAA companies are spending all their resources on developing methods to milk the consumers, Indie games can come up with a good product and take all the player base away.
Let's be honest. News like this is why people sail the seven seas. At this point, I'd rather sail and find that full game in an obscure website than pay that much for something that a base game should have. Or maybe just watch others who already paid for it. I mean, I already finished the base game so it's not much attraction for playing a new game plus unless there's REALLY something fun in it, like the rocket launcher or unlimited ammo in resident evil
That's the gaming life cycle, indie companies abuse AAA company's incompetence/complacency, they make billions, their studio grows, after a few more games they become triple A, they become complacent, a new indie studio arises. Circle of life n'wah
@cloudstrife9204 there's many many indie games released on consoles these days, it's usually just an indie devs first or second game that's pc only, that's why it's important to support their early works so they can afford to put out their future games on multiple platforms more easily
People who excuse this as paywalling a feature they wouldn’t use anyway are really missing the point. Its only going to be a downward trend of monetizing basic game features if we don’t put the foot down somewhere.
@@kenkaneki3873and then we are paying for subscriptions on offline games to be able to play it. People, do not buy this game. It's the only thing that by which we can show our solidarism to the company charging 110$ for full game. Or else, this will be the norm going forward.
Imo NG+ is only a core feature if it adds new content to the playthrough. Increased scaling like Eldenring is not really new content, another difficulty level can easily be made a baseline option(or unlock after first playthrough for new save). NG+ as just use your old save to start new is not the big deal.
I've already had enough personally, i don't play games with microtransactions or battlepasses anymore. I can deal with paid DLC but that is about it, i don't even want to play anything with skin shops anymore
What’s the point of it? I want to play a full game. I’ll pay for the full game. But I won’t pay for each individual feature every month for the rest of my life.
1. Don't get excited over marketing 2. Play already released games 3. 15+ dlcs? I just can't reason myself into believing that 4 digits is a fair price to experience a full game. Therefore I'm out. Easy as that
Battle pass is actually a pretty good form of progression...if it's fair. If you keep fomo, gameplay options, and paid "upgrade" out of it, its great! Check the Deep Rock Galactic for example. All cosmetics are moved to in-game progression to earn them after season complete, everything is free and available immediately after tutorial

Yep, I remember those days. I still have some of those PC games on CDs with the manuals and clear cases. Though not sure if they will even install correctly on the newer Windows OS like Win10 and 11. My new PC did not even come with a DVD drive when I bought it.
That's when games were a relatively new thing, and devs were just people in their homes on their personal computers or garage with their friends. Now it's just become a way for people who don't care about games to profit off of people who do. Just like book publishers giving the writers a small ass cut, anime companies driving animators to their deaths. There's just rich morons at the top ruining all the fun for everyone else so they can make an extra dime.

Companies talking about wanting to make full games cost $100 when they're kinda already doing that. What's the difference between playing a gatcha game F2P and playing a game like PoE without RMT'ing? There are forums and discords where RMT in PoE is extreme and rampant. Its more than a mere sliperly slope, a pit trap. You already paid for the damn game and they greedily treating it like a f2p gotcha game, can't even be reasoned with.
You can't change the difficulty in your first playthrough, it's only available in NG+. The difficulty options are paywalled AND time gated. You'd have to find yourself a 100% save just to play hard mode the first time around along with spending the extra money.
It is ESO and Destinty 2 putting dungeons behind paywalls. Buy game then an expansion, and have to pay $20 for a dungeon inside of the expansion you just bought. There’s been a weird mentality I’ve experienced from being that person who talks about these issues with others. The majority was saying let me enjoy what I want to enjoy and never took any consideration behind where that money goes because they don’t care. People clearly don’t understand what impact their money has because they get distracted from the product they wanted. If we actually cared what our money does I genuinely believe we’d have less issues in many situations. I think we need to have less hey this situation is bad and more conversations about the impact of our money.
Sounds like you only talked to firstworlders or people who wont get second thought on spending 100$ on a game with locked feautures otherwise. For the majority of gamers - they're not that rich and dont live in the US/EU, Sega manageroids digging their own companys grave.
I think we are forgetting the real reason for buying digital deluxe or whatever editions. I usually buy those because they come bundled with dlc or whatever and making it cheaper than buying the game and the dlc seperately.
I think it should also be mentioned that there are people like me who didnt follow the news closely, I only found out about 8 during the winter sale on steam and bought and finished 7 just before 8 was released, so I just went and bought the ultimate edition of 8 because I liked it and wanted to support the studio, thinking it was just nice-to-have stuff like consumables and accessories...little did I know that they deliberately hid the fact that the NG+ and etc are locked behind the dlc and nowhere was this mentioned on the steam page so I didnt find out about this until sometime after I purchased the game
Ya, it's extremely important to research a game by looking up reviews from multiple sources. There's been a lot of games over the past 10+ years that I chose not to support due to various reasons. I miss buying a game and knowing 100% of it came complete without any modern bullshit attached to it.
@@HAPPY47738 yea, it's only now after the game is released that they finally list what each dlc has, but that info wasn't there when they were pushing people to preorder...the only thing you could see is the chart saying which edition has what dlc and not what those dlc contain at all
Yeah I remember hearing ng+ was only in the dlc, and I went to steam to check, but there was no info on what was in each dlc on the steam pages even tho all the other RGG games do have that, so I had to go to the sega website to check what each dlc had.
The reason why they slowly do this is to force customers to get "accustomed" to paying more and more for things that used to be free. It's like taxes on things, sales tax used to be 3% decades ago - now it's 20% or more (VAT) in some countries - the reason they do this is because it works sadly. At least with video games you can choose to not buy the game, unlike taxes. c:

This "cuck" thing the guy argued about is blown out of proportions, Honkai Star Rail is a pretty easy game for f2p, there are lots of rewards in HSR and Genshin players are currently b****ing about it too because they barely get anything at all. I mean the game is literally single-player with online features, HSR has no pvp either, no ladder. You pretty much only need to whale if you really want a character and your luck is utter poop. I'd say Genshin is a "cuck" game since they never get a decent amount of free rewards whilst HSR gets rewards thrown at them constantly. You can barely save up enough as a f2p to get every character you want and even then every second pull is a 50:50, even if you are a minnow and pay for the monthly extra gems and for the battle-pass, that only makes that aspect of Genshin tolerable. Genshin however is brainless difficulty, you can play everything in it as f2p, but you won't get every character you want nor can you ever have enough to roll for weapons, even as a minnow, getting both character and weapon from the banner is pretty hard if possible at all, especially without grinding hard. There are far worse games out there than Genshin, just think about Blade and Soul, might not be gatcha but being a f2p player there sucks hard (if you know, you know). Those who complain about HSR being hard for f2p simply need to practice to figure out how the game actually works. End-game content can be done with 4 star f2p characters and it's not easy if you don't know what to do, how to build your teams but here's the thing, it is the END-F***ING-GAME! IT HAS TO TO PRESENT A CHALLENGE, especially if you still don't have enough characters leveled to build the optimal teams but in the same regard, you need to grind the pre-raid best-in-slot in wow if you want to raid at all and you won't get invited to a good raid till you learn to play. HSR is fine, if you are a gamer who doesn't mind a bit of challenge towards the end-game, play f2p, otherwise it's too easy. Also, the argument about why you should play a "better" single-player game instead of HSR is dumb because you can play more than one game. Also you play what you want. The bottom line is this: the games that are using scummy monetization methods will suffer on the long term and every big company experiments with where that line is, for a big company, a failed game is not a big deal, I mean look at EA, they are still in business, no matter the bs they pull pretty much every time. Basically stop being doomers, just play what you want, buy what you want and chill. Cheers!
The answer is simple as long as you don't mind waiting, you don't have to play it when it comes out, it'll still be new to you when you acquire it on sale later.
But you'd still be giving money to them, which only makes them more likely to do this again. The real answer is piracy. Pirate until they stop these practices or go bankrupt.
@@goatslayer3160No, that’s just your way of playing the game and pretending you’re fighting back at the same time. You cannot make a right out of two wrongs.

I think that League of Legends is popular because its not a GACHA, it doesnt have DLC's, it doesnt have paywalls for nothing, and it runs on potatoes + free skins from time to time by playing the game...
To be honest, I used to play some gacha game free to play, and I was playing it just because it was fun. I wasn’t really comparing myself to other players, but simply enjoying the process of leveling up my party through the restriction of the game.
His argument makes sense for P2W MMOs, it makes absolutely no sense for gacha games. You can't grind a gacha game for more than an hour a day. It is literally impossible. You are not competing with other players for spots in a party. You are competing against single player challenges that are balanced for BP players so you are at worst playing on hard difficulty which a lot of players choose in single player games anyway.
@@kuroh0241 I think thats a bit of a cope. In gacha if you don't light spend / spend you are getting a watered down experience because many games new characters IS content and as f2p you can only realistically get 1/3rd or less of the release of new characters. You also get less upgrade mats, money, rolls, resin. The games are completely Playable as f2p you are just getting a very watered down experience when every patch the main draw is new characters, you can't get.

@@TheRedOGRE The point about materials doesn't matter because if you have less invested characters you are playing a harder game just as I said. Getting less characters is kinda valid, but even most spenders don't get all characters. The way gacha games design their characters is to make you love some of them and hate some of them. Just look at the divided reception of M7, Topaz, Ruan Mei from HSR. I never played a game where I would want to use all of the characters. Just look at MOBAs, nobody plays all characters. Hi. F2P player here. As a Gacha game enjoyer for more than a decade, i do not care what packs and micro-transactions companies throw at me. I like the challenge of facing hard PVE content and, if any PVP content is available, i casually go at it and no worry if I win or lose. I play these games to pass the time, not to lose my head or wallet. As you put it, King, "it is what it is". ;) Edit1: after few more minutes of you insulting gacha players/F2P players, I'd like to say at least I am not spending thousands of dollars on a game. You are a millionaire, and you do not care about money (we know). Many other people work quite hard for their money and can't afford to waste it Edit2: you can throw all the money at a gacha game whenever you want. If you suck at a game, you will still suck at it afterwards. No amount of money will allow you to be successful at a gacha game if you are an idiot.
At the end of the day they are just video games and it's your choice if you want to spend time or money and remember time is money therefore no one should tell you what to do since they themselves aren't doing anything better. But yeah this was definitely a take of all time.
Like always, I will only buy games from sega after a few years when they have a super deep discount. This time they even put classes behind pre-order which I think they will make it purchasable DLC down the line.
Except Asmon and Tectone are kinda the problem. Because they play the games for content therefore making them popular and making it so these people with Mental Illnesses will want to play them and then spend money to keep up with the streamers spending money. You can't condemn the people that play free games and spend money while at the same time doing it yourself while also streaming it and making videos contributing more to the problem than just the normal players who don't.
I mean, i knew sega will hit a new low when they decided to stop selling games in Russia, one of the biggest regions of people grown on sega games. But boy do they have a lot of problem with money if they have to resort to this.
Facts how does a game like elden ring and that game is huge already come out with NG+ but for some reason games like god of war ragnorok and spider man didn’t release with NG+ you would think they would but no you have to wait 6 months for an update to come out granted it’s just an update but if your gonna have to pay for it then it’s gonna be a problem
Not sure of I'm remembering this right or not, but I feel like part of it is that modern devs seem to insist on rebalancing the NG+ to account for you having end-game stats and adding extra content to NG+ that isnt in the base game, whereas from what I remember older games that had NG+ usually kept everything the same as before, so the player could just blast through the story or collect their missed secrets without reinvesting all that time again. So newer NG+ probably is more work for the devs than it used to be, but the extra work is on stuff that isn't really needed, IMO.
This is quite literally what Asmons older video was about, that games are getting more expensive. But instead of having to buy the full game at 100$, they'll segment it, so its easier to sell.

Destiny 2's digital deluxe is the bare minimum. Don't get me started on dungeon keys either. Those expansions are 50-80 dollars for regular/deluxe i think too? And is he wrong? Thats what most people do. Its not the one asking/demanding for the money that is at fault, its the one that pays that is. 🤷 If enough people buy it, then it is what it is.
Whats pathetic about the casher model, is that they dont put in that effort. That F2P account is WORTH more because of the ACTUAL effort put into it. He ACTUALLY has achievements, and unlocked HIDDEN features because he ACTUALLY played the game. The casher dumping funds to be "stronkman" has ONLY achieved, "hollow victor status" because he WASTED money that couldve been WELL spent elsewhere. TLDR; Got no skillz, dump cash 🤣
Not all Gacha games are the same though. You can play HSR as f2p and not really lose anything or be left behind except maybe not owning all the characters which you don't have to do nor will it affect you because these games don't have pvp that benefits whales greatly. Lost arch however is another matter. Playing it as a f2p is a waste of time.
This is why years ago I started waiting for games to go on sale. You could by the best addition with all content a year later for half price. Once you get in the habit of this you have numerous games for half price coming out for you. Sure your behind but you also get the benefit of knowing good games vs terrible games that further save you money.
RGG is the only series that I genuinely love, it's so sad to see they go through the same cycle of so many "successful" gaming companies. Man, now I understand how Kiryu felt when he saw his kyodai turn evil...
Playing the new game right now, it's honestly quite obvious what their idea is, though. RGG charges 50$ for games with mostly reused assets and 60-70$ for games with more content and new areas. Now Infinite Wealth has a ridiculous amount of content (multiple of the side stories are basically entire games) and assets AND had to do huge changes on the $10.000.000 dragon engine, they probably straight up can't break even on a 70$ price tag alone. I still think the way they did it is super scummy, but in the end a game like this just isn't possible on a 70$ price tag, just no way. I hope they find a fair way to do this in the future.
Same, Nagoshi leaving was the worse thing that could happen to the series, from the international pandering to the pricing. I remember buying Yakuza 0 Steelbook for 30€, RGG releases games every year and it went to fast so bad...
@@MattashiComposer You lack critical thinking. Make a good product and people will happily pay for it. Promote scummy tactics and we will employ our own and teach you a lesson with our wallets. Being actively anti-consumer and normal people will do something about it.
@@TheDragon975 Not saying I promote their scummy tactics but the people who say now you give me a reason to pirate are people who already pirate shit anyway lol, even good games.
@@MattashiComposerThe point is they're going to pirate a hell of a lot more than they do. You need to understand, sailors of the high seas will gladly stop in a port if that port is worthwhile. I hope that's not too complicated.
I feel like the examples of the F2P people Asmon gave were extreme examples, Most F2P just log on do their dailies for 5 minutes while watching a youtube video and log off because Gacha games Stat games the gear is more important then the character so when you get the gear you clear the content do the story and that's it.
Asmon the kinda guy to whale the square peg through the round hole. Yeah that is not fun. Paying to bypass all adversity in a game is stupid. Of course better games don't give the option to pay to move the difficulty slider to easy.
In its _moderate_ defense, the game was originally planned to have a full sequel but the project got canned, so the devs decided to give the story a proper ending via DLC (furthermore it was 7$, not that 30$+ mess we get nowadays). Not saying it didn't suck or that it should be a standard, but I can at least understand where it was coming from.
This is bigger than games, this falls under the idea of owning what you bought I feel like. Which translates to literally everything. "You will own nothing and be happy." -KS
This is actually wild. I loved playing yakuza like a dragon and even that had some nasty microtranasactions. Pretty much every arcade machine in the game was blocked by a paywall and even to this day i haven't accessed them because i don't feel like paying for it. $15 bucks for new game plus is unacceptable
I bought the game, and its excellent. And I wont buy the deluxe / premium content. Sucks to not play NG+, but tbh I never do that stuff I don't need that, so for me the base game is a complete package..
@@beardedlonewolf7695 beased on this logic, everybody who bought the new Diablo support its microtransactions even if they didnt payed for it... I don't think so. I think its a clean message if a lot of people will buy the standard edition, and nobody will pay extra €20 for the NG+ Because the game is great, but the other shitty DLCs are not worth it. I can beat the game, and I can beat it again withoput using NG+
I've been playing Infinite Wealth, i've spend maybe 10 hours playing Mahjong already, been great. I'm not gonna buy the New Game+, but that decision is a bit easier for me, since i've never done NG+ for Yakuza, those games are long already and i want to play different things. I'm hoping not many people get the NG+ DLC so it won't happen again, but it probably will. People will def buy it when it ever goes on sale on Steam.
Well uhh, as a F2P guy who sometimes play Gacha games... Well I dunno, it's fun. I have no desire to collect every charscterz to me the fun of Gacha was always trying to make something work from the limited things you have. And I don't care if paying players have it better or easier than me, I'm just cruising at my own pace.
Must be a regional thing as we around here in Wisconsin do not get charged for Bar-b-que sauce or any other kind of sauce or honey with our order at McDonalds, usually they throw 7 to 15 in the bag and you have enough to use on some other thing in the future. Buy a 20 piece nuggets and with only needing 2 honey packets for the 20 nuggets one has a lot left over.
@StrikeforceWarBot There are a bunch of great games right now so it's no loss at all, it's an easy choice between a couple of expensive games, at least he still has his dignity and doesn't feel like a complete moron while playing a good game, and he can always buy it in a year at 50%.
@@SignalLost730He only got swindled if he owns anything other than the standard edition since that goes against what Sega wants. They want you to buy more expensive editions with ng+
I love how he uses an example on how studios will defend microtransactions being the norm in the future, by saying that it was done previously, only to defend streamers from taking sponsorships from these predatory studios with the same argument. 10/10
@@bentleywittman4617 assuming this is bait for troll. but point was streamers sponsored for game that is morally questionable like shadow raid for example. i do not agree whit this because streamers need to eat and pay bills streaming whithout spnosor ship or less than million subscription on yt doesent pay well.

Bonus stuff aside I was willing to look away from the changes they made in judgement and isshin where you could just buy things to make gameplay easier or essentially have a pay to win in certain aspects of a single player game - Ubisoft started generalizing that and others picked up from there. No reason why others won't follow suit with what Sega is doing here. DLC is different but having NG+ behind a paywall when it was always a part of the game is just wrong, sad that they probably know their audience - no one was expecting Kiryu in 7 but he did appear - this is probably the last game in the main line series where Kiryu makes an appearance considering how old he has gotten - and they know most will buy it. I would have too had I not still been on 6 - hopefully most just buy the base game or just buy this on discount later on.
I do think that the videogame market became too large to effectively push back against this. Digital distribution also made these practices extremely easy to implement. At the end of the day, microtransactions, battlepasses and these overpriced tiers are not a deal breaker for a large segment of the market. EA got away with selling a "new" FIFA every year for decades. The market will just segment itself into multiple categories and unhappy gamers will lean on more indie productions, like they already do.
As an ftp player of some gatcha, I don't understand what Asmon is saying. I just play a little, have a good time and that's it... why would I compare myself to other people? It is only a game
I think it applied to the more predatory monetization gacha game and those guy who always complaint about how it difficulty to level character and lack of contents rather than the one who play for fun and those who play for the story and character
I'm 31 and I've been a player even since. My mum had to put a chair under me to play at the arcade. Said that gaming in my opinion is getting "cheaper" and by that I mean that those great games that cost a lot for production we have them for "just" 70 bucks. I think for some titles like in this case Yakuza, Zelda ToTk, Elden Ring and few more this price is kinda cheap. I'm not happy with the pay wall behind the NG+ and I'm not saying that we should pay more but I have to admit that in the new Yakuza series there is a love and an effort that is really touchable and I think the 15$ dollars extra are to justify the amongous amount of work we can't see. I will buy it pretending the game base prize is 90 total because I really think it is worth it. After a period of emptiness about gaming this title gave me back the happynes to enjoy a game. It's huge and the new things you are going to discover will go on for days. And trust me you will laugh a lot and also cry. I'd prefer to pay 90 euros for a game like rather than 70 for COD or Fifa and other games that lost theirs Soul.

I agree with not telling people rather or not to buy a product but you can advice people to just buy the base edition because when SEGA sees the new game+ isn’t selling the higher priced edition they can always add new game + in an update
Soul Hackers 2 which is another game from Sega, had an extra difficulty as free DLC instead of it being just a patch. Even then I thought they were just getting cold feet but were probably playing with the idea around the office.
Infinite Wealth, is a game that is worth paying more to get the full game and supporting. The game has received positive reviews for its engaging storyline, immersive gameplay, and stunning graphics. The game’s new game plus mode, which is available in the Deluxe and Ultimate editions, is a unique feature that allows players to replay the game with their previously acquired skills and items. Although the new game plus mode is behind a paywall, it is a small price to pay for the added replayability and enjoyment it provides. By purchasing the Deluxe or Ultimate edition, players can also enjoy additional content such as new characters, side missions, and costumes.
Only that in reality the frog would jump out and not be an idiot and stay.
This 100% describes current gaming companies and current gaming problems to a T. People are selfish, aren't self aware, and don't want to branch out their thoughts and ideologies. The common person needs to understand that although they might not partake in something, it might eventually affect them somewhere down the line, and need to notice that. Honestly changes like this are just perfect opportunities for Indie games to pop off. While AAA companies are spending all their resources on developing methods to milk the consumers, Indie games can come up with a good product and take all the player base away.
Still to many degens spending 1000s$ on game progression
Let's be honest. News like this is why people sail the seven seas. At this point, I'd rather sail and find that full game in an obscure website than pay that much for something that a base game should have.
Or maybe just watch others who already paid for it. I mean, I already finished the base game so it's not much attraction for playing a new game plus unless there's REALLY something fun in it, like the rocket launcher or unlimited ammo in resident evil
Indie can't be on consoles which is a huge playerbase
That's the gaming life cycle, indie companies abuse AAA company's incompetence/complacency, they make billions, their studio grows, after a few more games they become triple A, they become complacent, a new indie studio arises. Circle of life n'wah
@cloudstrife9204 there's many many indie games released on consoles these days, it's usually just an indie devs first or second game that's pc only, that's why it's important to support their early works so they can afford to put out their future games on multiple platforms more easily
Just wondering, did everyone forget ASUNA's WRATH where we paid full price for 50% of a game and had to buy the other half in 2 separate DLC's.

Companies talking about wanting to make full games cost $100 when they're kinda already doing that. What's the difference between playing a gatcha game F2P and playing a game like PoE without RMT'ing? There are forums and discords where RMT in PoE is extreme and rampant. Just about everyone who participates in creating the best mirror tier items every season is heavily into RMT.
I think we are forgetting the real reason for buying digital deluxe or whatever editions. I usually buy those because they come bundled with dlc or whatever and making it cheaper than buying the game and the dlc seperately.
Yup. It like including the expansions with the first purchase and you end up saving 20 bucks.
those would be goty or complete editions, deluxe editions usually refer to pre-order bonuses
Was going to say this. It is not apparent when looking at the different versions. Most gamers probably don’t even know this is the case.
Ya, it's extremely important to research a game by looking up reviews from multiple sources. There's been a lot of games over the past 10+ years that I chose not to support due to various reasons. I miss buying a game and knowing 100% of it came complete without any modern bullshit attached to it.

Who knew that "infinite wealth" meant our wallet's contents
Pirate until they stop these practices or go bankrupt.

true
@@TheRedOGRE if we take Star Rail, their battle pass and that monthly thing is usually enough for me, but if there is 2 or more interesting characters in a row I doubt you would get all of them them without getting lucky enough
It is valid if you get unlucky tho, but Asmon never mentioned this part.
18 hours is 3-6 months for my f2p run😅 Asmon was too extreme. Don't have every character, just time killer game.

Hi.

I play these games to pass the time, not to lose my head or wallet. As you put it, King, "it is what it is". ;)
Edit1: after few more minutes of you insulting gacha players/F2P players, I'd like to say at least I am not spending thousands of dollars on a game. You are a millionaire, and you do not care about money (we know). Many other people work quite hard for their money and can't afford to waste it
Edit2: you can throw all the money at a gacha game whenever you want.
Good idea. That's what I did, I got a bundle of Yakuza 0, Kiwami, kiwami 2, 3,4,5,6 for all like $40 or so
Except Asmon and Tectone are kinda the problem.
I cant help but notice New Game + is the bane of modern Devs. It used to be a thing in almost every game, decades ago. Wtf?
Guarantee that one of those modern Devs will claim that it's "too hard" to implement it at all. It's just pure lazy on their part.

Every season, including when new yearly expansions drop, revolve around a few seaspnal story quests and activities that require the battlepass, which is conveniently included in the digital deluxe, along with a few cosmetic preorder bonuses (which are normal for regular preorders, not digital deluxe.) Don't get me started on dungeon keys either. Those expansions are 50-80 dollars for regular/deluxe i think too? I always avoided the eververse shop, probably spent less than 50 bucks on cosmetics over 8 years. Destiny 2 is the single game ive spent the most money on though, and I've played games like Genshin that are digital lottery machines. He has said this many times, this is the general opinion of the consumers, which is true.

They did the same thing with asura's wrath to get the true ending you had to pay
Once you get in the habit of this
you have numerous games for half price coming out for you.
I'll just wait for sale o hell, pirate it (yakuza never followed the law anyway)
Is that really RGG's decision? Do they have the freedom to decide something like this?
@@CSSundMPHftw Nah, that's not an excuse. A ton of games are brand new and still charge the same money.

Asmon the kinda guy to whale the square peg through the round hole. Yeah that is not fun. Paying to bypass all adversity in a game is stupid. Of course better games don't give the option to pay to move the difficulty slider to easy.
Asurass Wrath locked the true ending behind a paywall.

Because the game is great, but the other shitty DLCs are not worth it. I can beat the game, and I can beat it again withoput using NG+
@@beardedlonewolf7695 sadly the game is so good, and people can't resist it 😢
I've been playing Infinite Wealth, i've spend maybe 10 hours playing Mahjong already, been great.
Can you change cloths.... 😂
@@gggamer3851Yes, there are many costumes within a base game.
Well uhh, as a F2P guy who sometimes play Gacha games... Well I dunno, it's fun. I have no desire to collect every charscterz to me the fun of Gacha was always trying to make something work from the limited things you have. And I don't care if paying players have it better or easier than me, I'm just cruising at my own pace.
i love it when games give free dlc, like ragnarok, no mans sky, resident evil 4 and village and gt7 free vr mode, i just wish more would do it
re4 and re village dlc arent free
@@M_CFV the vr mode i said, please read carefully, THEY ARE FREE

Must be a regional thing as we around here in Wisconsin do not get charged for Bar-b-que sauce or any other kind of sauce or honey with our order at McDonalds, usually they throw 7 to 15 in the bag and you have enough to use on some other thing in the future. Buy a 20 piece nuggets and with only needing 2 honey packets for the 20 nuggets one has a lot left over.
i like that game companies make my decision of what game i will be buying easier then ever.
@StrikeforceWarBot cool, your loss in the long run
@StrikeforceWarBot There are a bunch of great games right now so it's no loss at all, it's an easy choice between a couple of expensive games, at least he still has his dignity and doesn't feel like a complete moron while playing a good game, and he can always buy it in a year at 50%.
@StrikeforceWarBot ikr how will i ever recover from this
@StrikeforceWarBot the only loser is the one who gets swindled. You poor, confused young soul.
What's wrong in promoting the good game with good gameplay ?
@@bentleywittman4617I think you completely misunderstood his comment
@@clownzii3222 In what way ?
@@bentleywittman4617 assuming this is bait for troll. but point was streamers sponsored for game that is morally questionable like shadow raid for example. i do not agree whit this because streamers need to eat and pay bills streaming whithout spnosor ship or less than million subscription on yt doesent pay well.
@@huugojepulis3342 sounds like a skill issue if these streamers can't get a loyal base to support them what does that say about their personality? about their content? if they have no shame in bootlicking to greedy corporations that want them to promote shitty practices on the average joe then they fully deserve to go broke perhaps then they'll become humbled instead of lieing out their ass all day long for a some dough while everyone else suffers the consequences.
Yakuza 7 in JP was missing New Game+ and the entire millienium tower end game. This is not new for Sega
Interesting, never knew this wasn't their first rodeo.
What’s wild to me is if they just increase the base price of gaming I wouldn’t have questioned it. This just feels like it’s trying to trick us though
Civ6 is another example. Cant play the full game unless you buy the biggest bundle. The base game feels like free2play but costs money too
As an ftp player of some gatcha, I don't understand what Asmon is saying.
I just play a little, have a good time and that's it... why would I compare myself to other people?
It is only a game
I think it applied to the more predatory monetization gacha game and those guy who always complaint about how it difficulty to level character and lack of contents rather than the one who play for fun and those who play for the story and character
If that's the case I understand.
Thank you
I'm 31 and I've been a player even since.
Could you say the same to consoles making players pay to access the online features?
Just wait a few years and you can play the complete game for like 30-40$.
Actually a lot of games don't go down in price over time. There may be periodic sale prices but the standard price remains the same
with games this predatory just pirate it day 1 if you want to play it and never look back, no need to give them less money when you can give them no money
no you wont
@@Chaso-1124 Nintendo games and niche jrpgs sure, that's never been the case for the majority of Sony and microsoft titles, specifically triple A titles. Yakuza 0 for example is $10 in store now, similarly priced is Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War, they were $90-$100 when they came out (in AUD). They go down so much because they sell so well, this game will still sell well
just pirate it, the Yakuza wont get you
Except the ng+ is still paywalled if u pirate it
As a HUGE Yakuza fan, I can't actually believe this is real. SMFH
Yakuza0 was great, Kiwami was... okay.
Good to know i stopped before the series went down the shitter
it is still a good game, they've done this on 7. you can still enjoy the full game in base game payment.
@@zapan9643 You poor thing, you think microtransactions = a bad game... lol, you won't be able to play a single video game within 10 years
@@yangtsur Yeah the base game is enjoyable, otherwise no one would buy the DLC which should've been part of base. That doesn't make this practice any less shitty.
@@zapan9643 Good for you. 0 is amazing. Kiwami 1 and 2 are good overall, but significantly worse. (at least you get some Majima content)
The rest... It's all downhill, big time. Not really worth it. The writing is terrible for most of them, most of the time. Doesn't help they recycle so much and keep pushing out products fast pace. Falling back on quality in many ways. Quantity>quality path.
Was gonna buy Yakuza; paywalling the NG+, though, is unfathomable to me.
We bout to start paying irl prices for ammo
Supporting the game by purchasing the full version will help the developers continue to create high-quality games and provide players with more engaging experiences in the future. So, if you’re a fan of the Yakuza series or just looking for a great game to play, Ryu Ga Gotoku’s Infinite Wealth is definitely worth checking out!
This is a bot right? No way you are real. *Checks user name* yea that checks out. LoL whoever paid for this bot didn't buy the deluxe edition that comes with a name that isn't randomly generated.
Thanks sega you just saved me $70. I’m a big yakuza fan and I was planning on buying it on release.
This is becoming like paying full price for a house but only getting the walls. You have to pay more for insulation, flooring, windows, etc...

This might not seem like a big deal if you compare it to F2P MMOs which can cost way more, but it opens up a new precedence which can lead to even worse F2P MMO monetization.
I think that what has ruiend gaming industry is that most studios are owned by corporations who are on the stock market, so it's never enough money for them since they have to chase good stock price to satisfy the current stock holders and get new stock buyers.
