I know spray paint has been something you've been using as an easy hack thing, but there is an easier way than spending more money on an aerosol mess- Medium. I've used sponges and matte medium with acrylic paint several times to paint multiple types of fabric, and the result is much less stiff/crunchy and you can adjust the colors to your liking as you go. It's a lot simpler to control in my experience and you don't have to struggle with the over blending and texture changes. I know this advice is unsolicited and probably coming across poorly (sorry), but I keep seeing you using spray paint without safety gear and fighting with it every time you use it and it has been BOTHERING me so much when I know there's easier, less toxic and cheaper methods. LOVE YOUR WORK AND YOUR TENACITY, NEVER STOP BEING YOUR AWESOME SELF.
Agreed! First video of hers I'm seeing, and I only got to "i dont know a better method than spraypaint" before running to the comments to say the same! Acrylic fabric medium is a life saver and opens up a lot of opportunity too :D
I'm sure others have commented this too but the "proper" way to do a gradient like that is to use fabric dye. You want to start with the lighter color and dye the darker color (so buy pink fabric and red fabric dye) I think you'll have a lot of fun trying to dye fabric! Just make sure to dye polyester dye if you have polyester fabric and natural dye for natural fibers. Would love to see in a future project!
I would PAY YOU to see a dramatic Edward Elric cosplay!! I’ve been making costumes for a couple years now but somehow still haven’t done a cosplay… I’m honoring my 6th grade promise and having my first cosplay be Ed, but a video going through that process would really give me the inspiration to move forward with it!
you want a halloween project that might ruin you but would be dope as hell? you know those pumpkin people designs you did the other week? haaaaave you considered making a costume like that?
Oh my goodness 😍 HOW have I never come across your channel before? It's so refreshing and inspiring to think that people as chaotic, lazy and unorganised as me CAN still make such incredibly gorgeous things! I've tried to follow other sewing channels that are such primped and perfect fairy princesses that I can't relate to them and put this huge mental distance between us and think that I could never do what they do. Thank you for this personality-based representation in the sewing community 🥰🥰
Pretty chaos human? Check Ornamental dagger, I want one too? Check Pretty strawberry earrings that Imma make? Check Making things and fudging it a little to make it work? Check Another amazing video, Kira!!! Thanks for being fun inspo and reminding me to Just Do It! 😄
Every time I watch your videos I get this itch in my body to make everything you design 😭 you are so creative i never realized that sewing could be so fantastical
After weeks of this video being recommended to me, I finally watched. I'm almost mad at how accurate the algorithm has become at recommending stuff I will obsess over.. The first video of yours that I've watched, I absolutely love it. Keep up the good work ❀♡
2 things: 1. If Halloween is around the corner, where do you live? I want that autumn weather. I live in Arizona. Very jealous. 2.At 6:10: Hey, it's B! Thank you. You are so refreshing. Not quite autumnal, but close.
I found your video by chance when looking for how to make cottagecore clothing. This is the kind of clothing I want to make and wear! And you gained a new sub!
Just a quick tip from a fellow ratchet seamstress lol. Rather than paying for real boning I use zip ties. I just cut the ends off and it works great! :)
To ombré fabric get rit dye for your type of fabric. Then make a bucket of steaming hot dye. Dip the tip. Let the tip of your fabric sit in the dye. Increase the depth of fabric in hot liquid while decreasing time soaked in the dye. This should lead to an ombré effect. Rit dye is sold at Walmart, Safeway, target, sometime ever a Walgreens or right aid has some
Hazariel costumes just did a mushroom cape that did an ombre by needle felting fibers to the fabric. Wouldn't work on poly satin but maybe something firmer. She used wool but I've needle felted with acrylic yarn before so I'm semi sure it can be recreated on more common/cheap fabrics.
OH MY GORSH I WUV THIS TOP SO MUUUUUUCH!!!! 🍓❤️🍓❤️🍓❤️🍓❤️🍓 . . . . As a tutorial type video, in my opinion, you hit the nail on the head😉😋😉 I love how easy your video was to follow along with and CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE TRANSITIONS YOU USED!?!?! BRILLIANT!! *Chef's Kiss* 😘🥰😘 . I very much enjoyed the entire process in this video from beginning to end. . . I FLORPING ADORE YOU! YOUR HUMOR AND YOUR STYLE!!!!! 🍁🍁❤️🍁🍁❤️🍁🍁 . Get some rest, Bay. YOU EARNED IT!! 🎃👻🎃👻🎃👻🎃👻
I love your videos and art, it's like being welcomed in to your gorgeous imagination. Seeing a thought become beautiful art to become a physical manifestation, it's amazing
Iv never been so happy to find a channel to subscribe to!! 😭😭 thank you RUclips for recommending this gem of a channel to me !! Iv just been binge watching your videos for hours 💚
I love seeing all the shirts you wear when you work because we have similar music taste based on that!! You make such cool things, I'm so glad I found your channel!! :))
I love your videos, and this is AMAZING Honestly I hope to have this amount of talent one day Also for Halloween maybe you could finally do some cosplay of your characters you’ve been mentioning
I watched the video of you designing this months ago and completely forgot to subscribe but you popped up in my recommendations I loved this video and not to be weird but you give me Ashley Johnson vibes and I’m living of it
If only I was rich enough to buy strawberries gosh darn it Kira stop making me crave foods I can only have twice a year!! Love the finished result and your sewing corner lol ❤💖💗
Hi so for the acrylic paint problem, may I suggest my lord and savior Angelus paints…just as pigmented and thicc as acrylic but actually flexible for fabric, and not dummy expensive. I use them so much I love them…idk if it’d save you time but it’d at least save the headache and make it comfier to wear. The paint goes further than you’d think in even the little bottles, but there’s a medium to thin it out too so…also sealer thing
This brings me so much joy. And by this, I don't just mean this video, I mean that the RUclips algorithm finally figured out the content I've been searching for. Your channel is awesome. Subscribed.
I also feel the need to inform you that we watched Our Flag Means Death since we last saw the Stede gown entirely based upon your recommendation in that video and it's such a good show; we're obsessed.

spidersona cosplay :)
u should make a costume for the executive producer!
I was gonna say a knight of some kind but actually yes. Make a costume or two for the producer
fav halloween thing gorishly mixed with fav fall thing
Something steampunky
since you love ombre fabrics, maybe getting into learning how to dye would be a cool project!
Ooo I would love that!
Annika Victoria has an old video on ombre tights which I feel is a cool place to start!
You are like Micarah Tewers and Rachel Maksy put in a blender. Love your stuff
Yes I was thinking exactly that too!
yaaass
FACTS
Every costuming youtuber I now see on a scale of “serious to chaos” where the opposite ends are Bernadette Banner and Micarah
@@LostLifetimes Bernadette is pretty chaotic herself lmao
I guess you can’t really get very serious with costume youtube…ing

It feels like you've reached the culmination of some sort of era - a very cute, crafty era. Lovely work and great editing, as always!

Very beautiful! I designed a similar top a while back based on a watermelon and this makes me want to make it a reality
Might I suggest a pumpkin/Jack o Lantern 🎃 balloon dress/skirt for the next fantasy nonsense episode?
I would PAY YOU to see a dramatic Edward Elric cosplay!! "I'm osha approved" while pointing a dagger right to the face.
*sweats* it's not sharp
y'know the best way to get gradiented fabric is to get the lighter coloured fabric and dye it darker - better for painting too
Absolutely stunning!! I love that you went from creating characters based on random things to create new clothes based on random thing!
Hello to my favourite chaotic seamstress! You make sewing my own clothes seem doable, and I greatly appreciate that
11:47 you say this while I am watching your video and doing school, as I am homeschooled as well. It really spoke to me
It's so funny watching you say Cristan Cole seems like a nice guy in retrospect lol

Just a quick tip from a fellow ratchet seamstress lol. Rather than paying for real boning I use zip ties. I just cut the ends off and it works great! :)
