    To a lot of native Chinese, seeing you walking around is like seeing a giant Panda walking around and that's why everyone wants to take a picture with you. Perhaps you can try walking around with a black and white dress next time and see their reactions. 😆
    Unfortunately, historical streets like the one you visited in Chengdu were either torn down during the Cultural Revolution or during the incredible economic growth period of the last 40 years. I've known only one other street like this: 福州三坊七巷.

      @TravelWithSoph  5 месяцев назад

      @@RichardZhu-qv4np yes a lot of people are surprised to see me or can’t stop looking😅 at the beginning when I came to China I thought- what’s wrong, do I have something on my face🤣
      That is such a shame, these historical streets are beautiful. But I think a lot of cities in China have ancient towns - maybe they have been rebuilt?

    • @RichardZhu-qv4np
      @RichardZhu-qv4np 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@TravelWithSoph Some local governments tried to reconstruct or duplicate ancient streets as tourist attractions. However, reconstructions are not originals and somewhat of a cash trap for tourists. It's like tearing down the Tower of London and reconstructing a duplica: not very authentic. 😔

      @TravelWithSoph  5 месяцев назад +2

      @@RichardZhu-qv4npyes you can feel that sometimes it’s quite touristy, with similar things being sold in different cities. But i think it’s amazing that they are being rebuilt so people can feel in touch with the history again🥹

    Hi there. Just wanted to say I love your videos and hope you continue to post more. Hope you are enjoying China. It seems you are definitely getting the most out of your time there.. Those earlier videos of you in Harbin just seemed insane with the cold. That's saying a lot since I am living in Canada!
    I also follow another RUclipsr who I thought may help you with vegetarian options. She's been in China for quite a few years now and had this video on being vegetarian while visiting China. Hopefully it will be of some help to you

      @@atam-gy8ow hello, thank you for such a lovely comment. I am glad that you enjoy watching, you have really encouraged me to keep going and posting more videos. Yes China is so vast and there is so much diversity between cities it seems like you can experience everything here - even the extreme cold!
      Thank you for the recommendation. I love Amy’s videos. Actually I watched that one before I came to China , it is very helpful and I often get foodie inspiration from her. Maybe one day we can work on a video together !🥹
      I passed on your message to Michelle also👌🏻
