Tonight, someone on Facebook asked "If you could chat with anyone on this bench for 1 hour, who would it be?". I answered "Gene Pitney". I said that I'd like to thank him and find out more about him - and then I came across this interview! Even though I didn't get a chance to ask the questions, I found out so much more about him. Thank you, sir, for making my wish come true. You have made my day!
Why did this man have to be taken at such a young age? He always had such class. You never heard anything bad about him. A wonderful family man and handled himself with such personality and grace. I grew up listening to his music and I miss him terribly.
Gene is so my favourite singer of all time...I miss him so much and its so wonderful that we all are able to hear this interview and have his voice in talk and especially music forever....I play his music every day and miss him...Hope to go visit his grave tomorrow...May he RIP...He is the standard of what a singer IS and what a MAN should be!
Performed a show at the Somers town green. Sang Town Without Pity. Didnt realize he was buried right down the road. Went to visit him after. Thanked him for such great music-
Saw him at Cliffs in Southend.Essex.England, a week before he went to Cardiff to perform his last show. Fantastic singer and talented songwriter, greatly enjoy his music.
Gene is right--the uniqueness of his voice is paramount. It is strange sounding to a lot of people, but that makes it unique. He's not trying to make it sound more conventional.

I love Gene Pitney's voice!!!! I have so many favourites, the list would be too long. I would like too know where he is Buried, so I could pay my respects. R.I.P Jean Messer 26th March 2016 Thankyou x
At 15, I dated a Bobby Vee lookalike in the mid 60's...he was handsome, always smelled great, had gorgeous hair, dressed nice, was never pushy or disrespectful, easy to talk to and all the girls loved him PLUS when we broke up we remained friends. If you haven't guessed it by now...he was gay, too. :o)
Disaster! American Idol featured the songs of Bacharach/David on April 10th and 11th and NOBODY had the courage to attempt a Gene Pitney song !! It was all Dionne Warwick and Carpenters with a smidge of BJ Thomas. Lazarlo would still be with the show if he had done: "Half-heaven Half-heartache".

I loved this man so much so glad I saw him in concert my secret love ❤
I can rember how easily he spoke to us when he was in England, so unassuming, he was never too aloof to talk to his fans.
Brilliant. What a lovely man he was 👍❤️❤️💕😻😻😃
He will always be one of my favorite singers, since I was a teenager. Great composer. I already keep a Fan Club Card. Rest in peace.
