Is this the same type of motors that is used to precisely move needles in car tachometer and speedometer?

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. Stepper motors, like the ones described in the video, can indeed be used for applications requiring precise movements, such as in automotive tachometers and speedometers. Their ability to accurately control position and speed makes them suitable for these and similar applications where precise instrumentation control is essential. Hope this helps!

Hello, I have a question, in the first state of the unipolar stepper motor when you put the first ground at the bottom right, isn't the polarity of the soft iron wrong, I mean, doesn't +VCC in a coil produces North and ground produces South?
    Thank you

andre perez Hi Andre,You are correct. The animations in this video are flipped and we will be fixing this video shortly. Thank you for pointing this out!

Why variable reluctance steppers aren't divided in unipolars and bipolars?

Great video! What do you call a stepper motor that has 3 coils? I am trying to find a driver for it with no success. Thanks in advance

This is called a 3 Coil Stepper Motor, it is not as common as the Unipolar and Bipolar coil configurations. Stepper motors have multiple coils that are organized in groups called "phases". A stepper motor may have any number of coils. Microchip supports gate drivers for unipolar and bipolar configurations. Is your motor unipolar or bipolar? This will help us recommend a gate driver you can use. For Bipolar stepper motors we recommend the MTS2916A (www.microchip.com/en-us/product/MTS2916A) or MTS62C19A (www.microchip.com/en-us/product/MTS62C19A). For Unipolar Stepper Motors we recommend the MIC4468 (www.microchip.com/en-us/product/MIC4468).
