    I always find it incredible that Odda's Chapel effectively dissapeared for 100s of years inside the court.
    I loved my visit there when I was doing The Severn Way - as you say you can feel the history all around you. It has a very special atmosphere there.

    Amazing that Odda's Chapel was hidden for a while as a farmhouse, Watto and Kim. It's great it was found again and exhibited for all to enjoy. Nice 2nd floor shot. I was pleased to see you weren't going to try to climb up! 🤣🤣St. Mary church was lovely as well. As you mention the woodwork was great and the stained glass stunning.The Font was beautiful! Lovely wander around Deerhurst, the Chapel was lovely and very peaceful, the light really helped. The timbers looked great outside, fascinating to see them running through inside. A very private second floor only accessible by levitation! Sound spot on even in the wind! Spoiling us with these August walks in the dark of winter. What a lovely gate Kim! Perfect Kim door! Perfect carvings on the solid oak pulpit. Would love to hear that organ banging out! Very well kept. The Angel carving was really nice to also see. Kim is massive! 👍

    Always enjoy an historical tour, especially when you are going back that far - proper history and if those walls could talk. Nice to see the church still open for visitors (some are locked now) and a real nice church it was too, despite the £115 a day upkeep - yikes! A lot of these old churches have a tap and pay now, which is a great idea, rather than leaving cash for some toe rag to half inch. Loved the old carvings and especially the 9th century Saxon font and good to see you and the 7 foot tall Kim out again, cheers Alan

    • @WanderingwithWatto
      @WanderingwithWatto  9 месяцев назад +1

      Glad you enjoyed it Alan. Yes indeed if those walls could talk. Soo much history there. Yep these churches are not cheap to upkeep. We do have a lot that are closed so they don’t get ransacked.
      The font was just awesome. To think how long it would have taken to chisel away at a single block to come up with that.
      Good to be back at it again. Even if Kim has grown a bit. 📏👀. Thanks for watching mate. Hope you are both keeping well. Cheers Watto. 👍🏻🚶🏻‍♂️🚶‍♀️

    Wednesday night and enjoying a bit of Watto and Kim! That’s a pretty impressive chapel, very cool. 1056? Wow. Nice shots of the second floor and lovely music choice. Ooh, windy day there, watch your cap there! The Saxon church looks amazing , great gate sound there Kim! Really pretty graveyard. It’s mad to think that some of that church is from 800AD, crazy! Wow, stunning inside. Neither of us are religious but we both love old churches, the architecture and stone work is incredible. Nice organ 😂🍆! £115 per day? I’ve never thought about how much a church costs to keep. The font is incredible, the history of these items are so fascinating. Loving the animal heads too. That angel carving is amazing. We never doubted that Kim was 7’ tall 😂. Really enjoyed that both, hope you’re both well x

      Hi guys
      Thanks for watching. Yes that area is flooded at the moment as we have had very bad weather. No flood gates to protect the chapel so hopefully is ok. Pretty bad all along the river tbh. 👍🏻🚶‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️

    You pose Kim next to the devil's door and call it a Kim door. Does that mean Kim is a devil? 👿

      She is a little devil indeed. We always lol for a Kim size door wherever we are. Not always on churches either.
      Thanks for watching I hope you and Ian are both well.
