this video was great. ive been searching for two days to figure out what exactly this mission was about, but this video has enlightend me. i do feel bad for the other two passengers that wont be able to exit the dragon captule, to go all that way and not be able to at least peer over the edge to see space is a bit tragic.
How do you think the Gemini astronauts did spacewalks (EVAs) back in the mid-1960s, from capsules much smaller than this one? These are 50-year-old-procedures, and are not just possible - they were done over and over again - and that was well before the computers, materials, and digital technologies we have today. I know - I watched them do it, back then. Do yourself a favor - do a little research on "no airlock" EVAs in the Apollo and Gemini programs. Not one astronaut was lost.
While they may not be “professional astronauts” The entire crew are FAR from ordinary people. The entire crew is comprised of some incredible people, and Jared has already gone to space on the same SpaceX Dragon capsule.
Good Morning. I can't wait for the launch of the Polaris Dawn mission. He got a Great crew to make this historic journey. There blood has to be pumping. Thanks for putting the miles on the screen. To an old timer like me it means a lot. That is on mission where they will learn a lot. We need to pray for safety and God's Speed. Jared Isaacman is spot on. He knows the risks. Great Update. Great Episode my Friend. Keep the info coming. You getting Closer to Your goal. 90.1K. Have a Great Day my Friend. Just keep it coming.
This is an unprecedented mission that may reveal some very interesting observations of the magnetic lines of the earth. I'll bet that there are some 5V CPUs (old school type fab) in this build...
What the hell are you talking about? Look up the term "magnetosphere," and you will see that 1.) it is a SPHERE, and 2.) that sphere surrounds the Earth, and is created by the Earth's self-creation of a magnetic "sphere," or lines of force created by the interaction of Earth as a gigantic "magnet" because of its iron core, it's spin, and other factors. Do a little research (it'll take you about 10 minutes), and you won't look like a fool when you post. (By the way, "separated by a milky way" is just gibberish. Do you even know what "the Milky Way" refers to? (hint: it isn't our galaxy as an entire entity, and has NOTHING to do with our Magnetosphere).
So when are we going to Mars ? I am certain Elon will get us there...Elon you most likely do not need it, but I'd like to volunteer to go first. I am a hard worker and sure I could make a go of it...
The astronauts will probably start breathing triox gas mixture like divers going into deep water. It replaces most of the nitrogen with helium so they have fewer problems with nitrogen and the Bends.
Perhaps...there is some sense in that, but I have never heard about it being used in space like that. Trimix is a high pressure breathing gas, but it is true that they need to out-gas the nitrogen for many hours before the space walk, like we do at the end of a deep dive. They will gradually go to low pressure 100% oxygen, something like 5-10 psi I suppose. That will make the suit much more agile.
Not to be a party pooper but exposing all the electronics to van allens belt seems very risky. How would your gaming PC do if it had to function in van Allen's belt. Im sure they thought of this . Who has actually exposed critical electronics to high radiation and had to have all that stuff work perfectly to have a chance of getting home .
Why doesn't SpaceX design a specila "trunk" for this type of flight that can function as an airlock? Just flip the capsule around to dock with the trunk and use that airlock?
Because it isn't necessary, and might even be more dangerous. These types of 'no airlock' EVAs were done many times as far back as Gemini and Apollo, and not a single astronaut was ever lost. Why can't people just do a TINY bit of research before posting comments like this? This was done repeatedly FIFTY YEARS or more ago.
I hope this EXPLAINS it for you. ruclips.net/video/ZnTTcn5q9yU/видео.html They will not spend 6 days in "suits" - The only time besides ascent and descent they will wear the new SpaceX EVA suits is on day 4 when they prepare the space walk which will take about 2 hours in total. What WILL HAPPEN over days prior to the space walk is that they will decrease the pressure WITHIN the capsule and change the composition of the capsule athmosphere to prepare for the space walk and the whole capsule to be opened up to space = all 4 astronauts will be in contact with space but just 2 will "peek" our of the hatch (one after the other) and show "free hands" but still securely connected to the dragon capsule by their feet.
Elon counting coup on the industry with his Falcon Coup Stick... (if you know native American history...) I think its great, surely a contrast to Stuckliner... 😂 I did see in a video on another channel yesterday of some of Blue Origin's construction methods... They looked familiar, jigs, rotation devices to weld in the flats, and extended longitudinals welded in... Also less internal ribbing. All things I have done writs about here on Alpha tech. And they were using the flared skirt for over diameter aft for engines covering. The only thing I saw missing, was they were using rings for the skin like SpaceX but doing horizontal construction which is easier, safer and faster. And what I realized, is rings are better for tanks due to less weld stresses, especially if you used gussets at 90° across the butted ring ends, and that you could go to longitudinal gores ahead of the tanks, and begin using chines to create actual hull shapes. Even blended wing stuff for high glide re-entry. What it means, is if Jeff realizes this, and gets into engine simplification, he could then build larger production facilities, and produce better hulls, cheaper, and faster than SpaceX with better worker safety. I'm not gonna count blue origin out yet, and I think SpaceX better wake up, their days as the industry leader could be limited if they stick with upright stacking as their construction method. Was happy to see that, its been frustrating doing writs and having to watch the negatives continue... On the round tanks to shaped forward hull, could give an arrowhead effect... would make for an awesome ship aesthetically, and better re-entry shape than Starship...
"SpaceX better wake up?" To my knowledge, they are not asleep - and the speed with which they produce, test, and innovate, has NOTHING to do with what Blue Origin does or doesn't do - which is as it should be. SpaceX has its own procedures, schedules, and design methods, and it has served them well. I haven't heard Musk or Shotwell expressing anything but the desire to produce ever-more-powerful and safe vehicles for space travel. Asleep? I hardly think that SpaceX is "resting on its Laurels" - they have work to do, and are doing it as fast - and as safely - as they can. This has nothing to do with "competition" - it has to do with changing the face of manned Space travel, and getting us off-planet. Bezos has copied a MASSIVE amount of SpaceX's designs - and this is something that Elon encourages, which is why he patents so few of his designs. Blue Origin is completely irrelevant - I wish them success - but seem to have a severe case of "rocket envy" which is unbecoming - using the law in an attempt to impede the progress of SpaceX. This is something that SpaceX has never done, and doesn't need to do - their progress, safety record, and continued innovation speaks for itself. If Blue Origin manages to orbit its first rocket, after all these years, more power to them - and then comes the long, hard, uphill climb to reusability, crewed manual/autonomous modules to deliver supplies and astronauts to the ISS, and so on. Meanwhile, we are fortunate to have one very dependable and competent Space delivery company - SpaceX.
"Ordinary people and not professional astronauts" ....... Yes us ordinary people prepare for 2,5 years solely for this mission and spend 20.000 hrs in simulator tests, climb a mountain, fly jets, do "weightless" training in parbolic flying planes, do deep dives, spend 72 hrs in vacuum chambers .... etc. Yes all the normal stuff "ordinary people do" when they embark on a quick space flight ....... /facepalm

There are many ways to shield against the Van Allen belt's radiation. How people have come to think that traveling in and through the van Allen belts is a "death sentence" is a mystery to me - but tells me that most people do no research. Wow, this is impressive mission ! And good looking pressurised spacesuits for a space walk, compared to bulky NASA spacesuits !
The suits are fed and tethered to the Crew Dragon. Basically it’s an upgrade of Ed White’s 1965 Gemini EVA suit.
Right On
