Here’s a workshop recording from Dragon Fest 2023: Drop it to the Floor...
This Groundwork workshop starts at an introductory level and builds up to Foot Spins, Leg Chirolls, and more!
I’m putting this workshop out for free for 2 reasons:
1. I appreciate tf out of all of you and
2. Someone attended this workshop of mine years ago and is now teaching it as there own. Trick for trick, word for word.
I recently posted on my social media stories about this incident to gauge peoples thoughts.
And the consensus is that no one owns tricks, workshops will always have some of the same tricks and will likely even have some overlap. But an exact copy Is not cool. And this is exactly how i feel about it.
The situation completely caught me off guard because even tho I know It’s a possibility, i never expected that someone would want to teach another persons flow workshop. In full disclosure, i thought about quitting teaching altogether because of this. But in the end i decided not to let one person ruin it for everyone. I have put countless hours and dollars Into learning how to teach yoga. And i took what i learned and applied it to dragonstaff tutorials. So I take a lot of pride In my work.
On one hand, I am flattered because I know that imitation is a compliment.
On the other hand, I don’t like seeing someone take something that I created from scratch, call it there own, and charge more than triple my rate for the workshop.
So in order to keep this person from profiting from my work, I have decided to put the workshop up for free for everyone :)
And if anyone ever feels inclined to teach one of my workshops I ask that a) you ask permission and b) please give me some credit.
In yoga and in dance classes, an instructor may teach someone else’s sequence but credit is always given to the creator.
And lastly, I’d rather not call the person out by name since I already brought this to their attention and got
blocked but I will say, be very MINDFUL of who you support these days.
The flow arts community is full of good apples but like any community, there’s some moldy rotten apples too.

I unfollowed that person as well, I've seen her steal other people's stuff l, people she don't even speak to. I'm sorry it happened to you, just know there's many of us who love & support you❤

Well not that im glad she's doing that but i am glad its not just me. Its a weird territory cause again no one owns tricks but the way she just copies workshops and sequences and ideas is too much for me. Really appreciate you Kelly !
