After researching the issue for over a year, Jefferson County (Colorado) Open Space Parks have decided to allow class 1, e-MTBs on trails that allow mountain bikes. They announced this on February 21st, 2018, and the pilot program is for 1 year, then they'll determine their long-term approach. Jeffco Open Space is to be congratulated on their open mindedness and advanced work on this cultural issue. This video shows what it is like to do a steep climbing trail on a Trek Powerfly 7 FS Plus pedal assist mountain bike. It isn't so different than watching a younger athletic person ride a normal mountain bike. This technology will open up single track mountain biking to a large group of people that are currently excluded because of health and age related decline which should result in more trails being opened for everyone to enjoy. Way to go Jeffco Open Space! This loop trail is 11.5 miles long with a 1700 ft elevation gain, mostly in the first 4 miles.
