Brighton Town & Butlins 1956

Scenes of Brighton seafront taken in 1956. We see coaches and other vehicles driving trough town. Locals and tourists walk along the promenade and look at the pier. Miniature trains ferry passengers along the beach. Cars arriving at Newhaven. Ships arrive and leave. People enjoy the swimming pool at Butlins both in B&W and colour.

My mum worked at butlins hotel saltdean in the 1960s.and i remember it very well too i was a teenager.

Hi there, I've just made a 4k gopro walk of Brighton now, So it's great to see the changes. Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed traveling back in time, I had good memories of Butlins Ocean hotel as a kid.

Nice to see the Butlins renovated after years to decay. No pool there now I'm sure, but they are slowly fixing up the Lido down the road.

Women wore hats, men didn't , even with short hair. Shows how much we have realised. You didn't think anything of it, it was the norm.
