Gold Mountain and its “NEW” Gate Keeper

- On today’s episode we visit the new Gold Mountain Gatekeeper. The Gate that was supposed to be up a couple years ago finally went up. With the gate going up they also changed what the Rock Garden looked to get into GM. The efforts of the gate are not just to make it hard for rigs that shouldn’t be on the trail to be up but to also protect the areas from heavy traffic. Enjoy the numerous makes and models as the literally walk the Keeper.
Thanks again for all of the help, George! It was great meeting you this weekend. I agree with my friend Kris. This trail was WAY harder than even the new gate keeper. With your help, I was able to get up everything without my winch but my two buddy's in their stock JKU and JL needed my winch each twice (and Kris's JKU didn't make it out unscathed). Good times were had by all though! Keep up the good work!
Absolutely always here to help. That’s unfortunate what happened to Kris but it’s the game we play everytime we hit a trail.

Rigs keep getting way more capable all the time. With the amount of kooks coming up there, that portion would be trashed if they didn’t concrete it. Hopefully you did the right thing and gave her an X-small😂
Few years ago, a lot of stock trucks came and either took FOREVER or got stuck, blocking the path. I've even seen a Subaru up there, but obviously didn't make it past the waterfall, but was blocking traffic.
Great they put a gate there. Last time I was stuck behind a Subaru on the first obstacle. Lol.
Sucks they made the gatekeeper easy though :(
Yes and yea it’s unfortunate hoped they drop a couple more boulders in there

What really matters is not that the gate keeper "keeps people out," but rather that it shows you are probably skilled enough to make the rest of the trail.
I think gate keepers way better now that it’s been filled in I need to go check it out soon

It was definitely easier than most of the trail.
Better than before where it looked fine until you got too far in to turn around. I was stuck behind a large group of stock/near stock trucks/SUVs for HOURS while they spotted everyone in the group through every rock...
They shouldn’t of cemented those rocks , should just take the gate off at that point 🤷♂️ 😅

Wasnt able to make it up the old gate keeper but the actual trail itself wasnt that bad so why peoole made thwir own bypass was beyond me

Gold Mountain in Big Bear, CA. Gatekeeper is just the name for the first obstacle of any trail.
Yeah I think they ruined the rock garden. It used to change. Sometimes it was "hard" and sometimes easy. But not with all the cement its kinda ruined.

If they need help I have to way better than snapping or breaking
