Godspeed my brother ... I will miss you ... Thoughts and prayers to your family .....
God Bless Brother R.I.P🚒
At the age of 8 in 1974, my friend across the street from me and myself wanted to be firefighters. Two TV shows at the time, Emergency!, and Firehouse, and the movie The Towering Inferno, fueled the desire even more. One day he shows up at my door waving the book and says "YOU GOTTA READ THIS! Upon reading it, both of us discovered the job wasn't ANYTHING like what the TV shows were and Towering Inferno was tame. Unfortunately it convinced both of us that being a firefighter wasn't a good idea. But to this day I still have a strong interest in firefighting.
Rip sir 🕊 God bless his soul 🙏
FYI Dennis Smith’s first assignment out of the academy was Engine 292 in Queens. He later transferred to Engine 82. He had a first day at 82 but that wasn’t his first day on the job.
Just found out today. Farewell my dear Mr. Dennis Smith. 😢 I may have only known you a short while way back 2012-13 when you're writing a novel in PH, but your brilliance left a lasting impression in me. Rip.
oh no! This makes me sad… I found Dennis Smith and his writing to be very interesting and fun to read… I didn’t know he died… Man…. Dennis Smith and Frank McCourt to very awesome writers…
Two minutes? Too bad. Firehouse Magazine "honored" him with two pages. Those people wouldn't be where they are if it weren't for him. They could have done the whole issue in honor of him.
My Sympathy to his Family and FDNY.
