- In this video I go over 3 basic ways to trigger a flash, strobe, and/or speedlite with and without a trigger. With a trigger you can use radio frequency (RF) communication for triggering flashes. If you don't have a flash for a camera, no worries you can optically trigger the flash using slave mode! Check out how to set your flash in slave mode and camera to take advantage of flash exposure compensation. These are some techniques that are great to know for any photographer!

I’m so glad I came to RUclips before I bought that trigger! I watched your video and saved some money. I’ll still get a trigger down the line, but for now I can save that lil change. I subscribed. Can’t wait to see what else I learn from your channel.
Thanks for taking the time out to drop a comment letting me know the content was useful. Appreciate the support!
A very clear and down-to-earth presentation that was very helpful to me. Thank you Sir.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the support
So chilled and relaxed...thanks for the info, sir!
Any time! Thanks for supporting my channel and taking the time to leave a comment.
Been to about 10 different videos, wish RUclips would recommend yours first. I finally get it haha. Appreciate the tutorial, i've been doing rental photography focusing on HRD and want to get into flambient flash for Real Estate sales. Your video is about to help me level up 🤞🏿
Glad it helped!
My dawg!! Good looking out and as usual, great info!!
Appreciate that 💪🏽
simple and straightforward! thanks!
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching.
Can this work outdoors without walls to bounce the light and trigger the slave?
Great Flash Vlog, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching
Great insight! Now I know 🔥🔥
Glad it was helpful!
Nice tutorial, can this work on a manual speedlight like godox tt520ii
It should
Finally! Thank you so much! One question sir I'm a newbie photographer, I've been using Canon EOS M200, can you recommend a speedlight that can match my camera in slave mode settings? Thank you!
Godox is a great speedlight choice, especially once you start to buy even more strobes because you will have an ecosystem of the same lights.
I have an R5 and I'm surprised to learn. I need an extra device to remotely trigger a flash.
I would have thought such a camera might include such functionality.
Yessir
Can you use slave mode and HSS together where you have HSS on Main/Key light and slave mode on fill and kicker light? I have a YN200 with HSS and trigger but my other yn660"s don't have HSS. Basically is the optical sensor fast enough to activate the slave speed lights and the show up in pic?
That's a great question, I will say that it will not be a guarantee every time especially depending on how fast your shutter speed is so I wouldn't rely on that. I have done it before and was able to capture a flash without HSS in the photo but my shutter speed was barely over the sync speed. So for reliability I would get another flash with HSS or configure your shots so you stay within the bounds of the YN660, which is usually 1/200.
@@TMIDD thanks for the quick response, I am shooting with the D800E and don't don't have any issues syncing the 660's up to 250th but my budget AD200(YN200) does the HSS fine as the main Key light, was just if I wanted to do some 2 and 3 light setups in HSS would the 660"s in slave mode work. looks like I am going to have to get a 2nd YN200 if I want to say with the same system. So far I have 1yn200 and 6 speed lights (2 660's and 4 basic with 4 yongnuo receivers and they all work great as long as I stay at 250th. But thanks again and keep pitting out those good vids, they help.
What kind of trigger would you recommend for a rebel t7 because I ordered two an wont connect unless im just doing it wrong
Thanks for watching, which flash system are you using?
@@TMIDD I have the speedlite 430ex III-rt
I have the same camera. Did you figure it out ?
@@WarehouseWorkerToTraderwell I actually had to buy canon original flash in order for it to work even tho I don’t even use canon anymore but it’s versatile with my other cameras tho
What is the name of the strobe and where can one get it?
The strobe that I'm using here is called a godox ad200 and can be bought on amazon.
First!
