Is it still smoking? Because after changing steam seals it seems it was not the problem or perhaps there was oil in the exhaust pipe.
I have the same doubt but I think mine has the problem on the steams seals. My C70 T5 1999 with only 72000km (45.000 milles) (just buy it 5 months ago) it is not smoking a lot but the spark plugs are plenty of oil. I am trying to recover steams seals with several products that are able to reaconditionate them. I will see if they works.

@@Miorsp Yeah it is still smoking. Which raises a few questions in my head. Like you say it could be oil in the exhaust but I think something else is going on. I changed the chra previous to having the stem seals and I don't think it's up to the job. I think it's time to swap it for a 19t. Too cold to investigate at the moment.

      @@850BRICK Chra, What is it?
If it is not steams seals then Rings, piston and/or cilynder, i think there is not more options. The oil on exhaust after a few km it had already dissapeared. There is another option that the steams seals that you put on are not the correct ones for your engine, and even they have not insert correctly. There are Steams seals with 6mm, 7mm, this 5 cilynder engine has a lot of updates.
On the other hand, How many milles/km has it? The problem is if you continue drive it with this quantity of burnt oil It is quite likely that the catalyst is damaged, so the sooner you find out and cut off that oil consumption, you will save money. Money, on the other hand , you will be able to use to make this swap.

Turbocharger chra. I have considered the options you mention ofcourse and they all need further investigation. I sent this cylinder head to a machine shop to carry out the stem seal replacement because when I tried to remove with my removal tool they where incredibly difficult to remove. I will have to research stem seal sizes but I think they are the correct ones unless the 850R is different to the T5? The car is not road legal currently so I haven't had the chance to burn off any oil sat in the exhaust. It may have to wait until winter is over now.👍

@@850BRICK I have assumed that you have already checked the PCV valve (glove test) because the problem of that oil consumption may be there.Excess pressure built up inside the engine.

To see if the oil is coming from the turbo you can look at the turbo outlet hose that goes to the intercooler, even to make sure, looking at the hose just goes straight to the intake manifold. If they have a lot oil, It is highly likely this comes from the turbo. A little of oil in the inlet turbo hose that come from air box is normal because there the PCV valve hose discharges the gases that come from crankcase.
Take note of these tests and when the spring arrives you already have task. Good luck and when you find the solution, upload a video you could help many people with your experience.🙂

@Miorsp Hopefully by the spring I'll have a 19t turbocharger to replace the k24 with. The K24 has been nothing but trouble due to the infamous crack on the hot side turbocharger housing and the new replacement chra I installed had play in the shaft straight out the box. I don't think it could cope with the boost presure I'm running. Yeah the pcv is all working fine. 👍
