I just finished the whole throne of Glass series and would honestly recommend starting with Assassin's Blade. You start rooting for Celaena from the start
i read assassin's blade first and straightly in love with it. in my opinion, its a strong starter. i got really invested and when you start the rest of the books, you can pick up a lot of things and hints from that book alone. its just fun when you know and understand what they're talking about.
Personally I’d start with Assassins Blade, it’s really good! The first TOG book is very slow and so personally I was happy I started with something much quicker paced
I think Assassins Blade being read first was the BEST WAY!! I understood Celeana so much and made me root for her throughout the series! It also got me attached to some certain characters…
Starting with Assassin's Blade is fine, however starting with Throne of Glass is the more emotional/romantic path. As well, there are things that happen in the first 2 books and it's very fun going back in time and realizing how things connected in the past.
🍵🫶🏼🥰 Also I highly recommend reading Throne of Glass first for a more emotional experience & attachment to the characters! Either way though, so excited for you, this is a great TBR list!! ☺️
I started with assassins blade and In my opinion it’s the best way to go. It is a prequel to the story, so in my mind it makes sense to read first, and you get to know the main character and her backstory before jumping into throne of glass. TAB ends around where TOG starts also so it flows nicely!
Assassin blade as i feel like it made more sense that way and also, the book references what happens in Assassin blades a lot. If your like me and need to know what they are on about then start with assasin blade
i read assassins blade first and it gave me more depth on the FMC before going into the current plot! and i was just glad i didn’t have to take a break from the story for a time jump too
I personally read Assassin's Blade third! i think part of the intrigue in the first two books is the mystery of Celaena's backstory. You slowly start to learn things about her as she wants you to know them. i don't think it would ruin everything if you read it first but i think I definitely appreciated the book more reading it third! (I've also heard you can read it fourth, which i think would also be fine!) Definitely read it before Queen of Shadows because there's a lot of references to the characters and stories from Assassin's Blade in this book.
Just wanted to say how amazing it’s been to see your reading journey. I remember your first videos & you were trying to get into romance but you just glow when a fantasy book comes your way & I love to see it. 🥹
Assassins blade first! Amazing first book and great background for the rest of the books, so you’ll be a little less confused going into the rest of the series. Assassins blade is SO GOOD
I would recommend reading Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight before The Assassin's Blade. You'll understand better the reasonings behind the caracthers once you know them. The novellas are too introdutory to begin with, it's recommended by Sarah herself to read it before Heir of Fire!
i’m currently completely and entirely miserable because my cat went missing sunday night, so here i am watching an alexa video to try to temporarily feel better. always look forward to your videos, especially when i’m not feeling so well. you have such a sweet and lovely disposition, it’d make anyone’s day. thanks for being here 🩷🩷🩷
I don’t think you need to start with assassins blade but that is the first book I read and if I had to re read throne of glass, I would still choose to read the assassins blade 1st. I think it makes sense because in the other books her back story is referenced and in my opinion knowing all of that info before reading the series was really nice and I think you get to know the main character so much better reading it first.
I read the assassin’s blade first and it made the other books so much deeper in a way, when I kind of knew some of the backstory! I think it made them more emotional💖
I personally started with assassins blade, it made me love celaena so much more when I read throne of glass 🩵 many people hate celaena because of her attitude in throne of glass but if you’ve read the prequel you just feel sympathy instead of irritation !
What a great TBR! I loved Emily Wilde, Belladonna, and June Farrow (I’m drooling over that special edition)! And What the River Knows and TOG are definitely on my TBR! Have fun 😀🎉
I started with Assassins Blade and I’m glad I did. Whether you start with ToG or AB, the books just jump right in so reading AB gave a little more context as to how the series starts
i have an idea u could do to choose ur tbr. You could wrap all your books and put a number on each book then pick a number out of a hat or something and whatever number you get you take that book unwrap it and add it to your tbr for the month. (i don’t know if this has already been done by anyone yet)
🍵absolutely loved this video Alexa! Your TBR for March looks so fun! Belladonna is my favourite Romantasy book of all time and I gave it 6 stars! It’s a very cozy fantasy and feels like a gothic YA version of Bridgerton. Throne of glass is such an amazing series. I highly recommend following SJM’s reading order and starting with Throne of Glass, then Crown of Midnight and then The Assassin’s blade. It makes so much sense that way and you can pick up on little Easter eggs if you do that reading order. Hope you have such a fun reading month. ❤
I just bought the Throne Of Glass on my Kindle. I can't wait to read it. I am reading Iron Flame on my Kindle right no. I am loving it. All the twists are so much fun!
for me, i followed this chart i saw on pinterest and read it in the "romantic order" so i read throne of glass, crown of midnight, heir of fire, THEN the assassin's blade, and then continued on the rest of the series and i don't regret it one bit :) but either way you decide to read it is good!!
I started with The Assassin’s Blade and it’s the only way I’ll read through the series now.. It gives a lot of backstory that I feel makes it a bit better to read first.. I hope you enjoy Throne Of Glass..
Wishing you all the best of luck in your reading 📖 journey for the upcoming month of march tbr and I believe that you will read them all too ❤❤❤prayers and blessings for you and your family love your Aussie family friend John ❤❤❤
i read throne of glass first and the assassin’s blade third! honestly you can read it whichever way speaks to you best, because either way it’s still going to have an emotional impact! 💕
I’m definitely glad I read assassins blade first due to I wouldn’t want to read it after a cliff hanger. And I felt more connected reading it first I read it twice in two different orders and I still stand by assassins blade first 😊
I started with Assassin's Blade and I highly recommend!! I've seen a lot of people say they started with TOG and when they got to AB they regretted it. ALSO, don't do the tandem read. I don't think it adds anything. Although they take place during the same time period, they don't intertwine. Maybe as a reread do it but I wouldn't do it for your first read. Hope you enjoy🫶🏼🫶🏼
Loved that you writed the prolongue of the book because English is not my first language and I always got to listen very attentively to understand this part in the video. Can’t understand easily like when you are talking.
MUST read assassins blade after crown of midnight and before heir of fire!!!! best reading experience i wish i could read it for the first time again!!!
I really regretted started with Throne of Glass. Once you read Throne of Glass, you already know what happens in The Assassin's Blade. I think if you are a reader that likes to know things beforehand and get the FULL back story later on in the story start with Throne of Glass. If you are a reader that like being surprised and getting that shock value, then start with The Assassin's Blade. I personally think everyone should start with The Assassin's Blade because if that order isn't working for you, you can just put it down and go to Throne of Glass.
I really enjoyed What the River Knows! I loved the adventure and the Egyptian knowledge and the little bread crumbs of romance between the two characters- book two releases in November and I cannot wait!
Alexaa my day is incomplete without seeing your vlogs and I really really love to read books so so much and I wish you have a wonderful wonderful week ahead😭😭💗💗💗
if you’d rather be surprised by the events in assassins blade, read it first. if you’d rather have it spoiled but mysterious & know what happens but not exactly how, then read it third
Start with assassins blade, it will help you understand why the main character is the way she is. If you don’t, you will not want to back track and read it later! ❤❤
🍵 OMG! That edition of Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries you have is so beautiful. 😅To be honest, even I picked this book every time I visited Indigo, but I NEVER BOUGHT IT. I guess this is my sign to finally go and purchase it💜 Also, your voice is really sweet. I can listen to it the whole day😄
I read Assassin’s Blade after the second or third book. I think it would have been better to read it earlier honestly. But there is one little surprise that happens if you read Assassin’s Blade later… I think the best would be to read Assassin’s Blade right after Throne of Glass. That way you get the best of both worlds
Starting with AB is the only right option in my opinion 😅 I don’t even understand why there’s a debate, because technically she wrote the novellas before it’s just that they were published into a book later on.
WHOOO Alexa, nice book choices for March!! Can't believe we're in March already but hey, I'm excited because that means spring season is approaching! I've already finished 2 books this month but they were rereads because February put me in a book slump after I read Book Lovers by Emily Henry for my book club so I've been trying to get out of it. I'm currently reading Tom Felton's (Draco Malfoy) biography Beyond The Wand and I'm enjoying it!! You should check it out!
Yes I love TOG soooo much more than ACOTAR, which I also love. I’ve read both orders of TOG and I prefer reading Throne of Glass first in publish order. Assassins Blade causes more pain when you read it later
I read Throne of Glass first because Assassin’s Blade hadn’t come out yet, but I think I would start with Assassin’s Blade to learn more about her backstory.
I would say read Throne of Glass first. I did read that first too and read the Assassin's Blade after the third book and that made much more sense to me ❤
Read The Assassin’s Blade first. I read Throne Of Glass first but it spoils what happens in TAB and it’s easier to get into the world in TAB anyway. Also, it’s really annoying to have to stop reading the story of crown if midnight/heir of fire just to backtrack to events they move on from.🍵
should i start with throne of glass or assassin's blade?! ⚔✨
ASSASINS BLADE TRUST ME IT GIVES U SO MUCH INSIGHT ❤❤
I started with The Assassin’s Blade, I’m now on Crown of Midnight and so far I really like that I did that😊
the assassins blade!!!! it is so annoying to read it later in the series!
Assassins Blade hands down!
Throne of glass of course
I just finished the whole throne of Glass series and would honestly recommend starting with Assassin's Blade. You start rooting for Celaena from the start
Assassin’s Blade first imo!!! I’ve read both ways and looking back Assassin’s Blade first is the way to go ❤️
i read assassin's blade first and straightly in love with it. in my opinion, its a strong starter. i got really invested and when you start the rest of the books, you can pick up a lot of things and hints from that book alone. its just fun when you know and understand what they're talking about.
Personally I’d start with Assassins Blade, it’s really good! The first TOG book is very slow and so personally I was happy I started with something much quicker paced
Assassin’s Blade gives you the reason why Selena is the way she is. It gives you the back story of her. I read Assassin’s Blade first ❤❤❤
I think Assassins Blade being read first was the BEST WAY!! I understood Celeana so much and made me root for her throughout the series! It also got me attached to some certain characters…

The audiobook for Belladonna is amazing! The narrator has the PERFECT voice for telling for the story!
This month’s TBR is top tier 🤌🍵💚 so excited for you to start TOG !
I started with Throne of glass and you easily pick up her background story. I think no need to start with the Assassin’s blade.
thank you!
@@alexarayeI will suggest to start with Assassin's blade❤
Nah, I say always start with the prequel no matter what series it is.
personally, the romantic order for throne of glass was amazing and I honestly wouldn't do it any other way
Just wanted to say how amazing it’s been to see your reading journey. I remember your first videos & you were trying to get into romance but you just glow when a fantasy book comes your way & I love to see it. 🥹
I love Adrienne Young- her Fable duology is part of what got me really back into reading♥️ Her writing style just gets to me in the best way.
Assassins blade first! Amazing first book and great background for the rest of the books, so you’ll be a little less confused going into the rest of the series. Assassins blade is SO GOOD

Aww thank you so much!! You too 🥹💖
@@alexaraye no problem 😉 I wish battling mental health issues
I started with assassin's blade and I would recommend starting with if only because reading t.o.g. first spoils it a little
oooo thank you for this!!
@@alexaraye no worries :)
You should do a video about your TBO job and what kind of prompt you put in it and things like that.
i read throne of glass first and the assassin’s blade third! honestly you can read it whichever way speaks to you best, because either way it’s still going to have an emotional impact! 💕
